The staff (nurses, cleaners, carers and management) were the most friendly and helpful staff you could imagine, nothing was too much trouble. Management rolled up their sleeves and helped.
We were allowed to stay as long as we wanted, visit any time of day.

Just a fantastic place.

From what my husband's visitors say, my husband was very happy when they went to visit. My husband himself conveys to me he was happy to come again to stay. This makes me feel better if I know he is happy in respite when I'm away and can't visit.

My mother arrived at Castle Hill House in an extremely poor state of health. She was so weak that we were unsure how much longer she would be with us. However, after 3 weeks, receiving the care and attention that she needed, she has become so much stronger. The nurses and care workers have sorted out her pain relief and adjusted her medicines. I cannot praise them enough. My mother feels safe and happy. I would recommend Castle Hill House.

I feel Mum was well looked after at Castle Hill, with excellent care and consideration during her stay in the remaining weeks of her life.
The staff were lovely, professional and very helpful and the home is clearly well run and maintained.

I do feel that extra staff would help reduce pressure on the home's team, given the extensive and varied needs of the residents, but cannot fault their care and commitment.

Having visited several care and nursing homes I find Castle Hill House to stand head and shoulders above the rest. The facilities, care and overall standard is excellent. On entry, you will always find a clean, fresh smelling and overall friendly environment and no sense of complacency. Any issues and the maintenance man is there and sorted. I have no issues in recommending Castle Hill House to my relatives and friends.

My mother used Castle Hill House for respite care from time to time. She was always greeted by her name and made to feel welcome. A thorough update on her medication, state of health, dietary likes and dislikes was always made. Her room was always very clean and ready for her to move in. I was always confident she would be well looked after.

Overall Experience

Mum has been a resident of Castle Hill House for almost 3 years. Due to the severity of mum's disabilities, we were sadly no longer able to provide care for her at home, so searching for a new home was a stressful time for the family. From the first contact, we had from Castle Hill and our follow up visit, we felt supported and felt sure that Castle Hill was the best home for mum. The home was bright, cheerful and flexible - mum was able to have her own familiar furnishings and there was no restriction on visiting - perfect!

To be honest, we have raised a few concerns during mum's stay but I feel that those concerns have now been listened to and actions have been taken to rectify these. Staff are hardworking, friendly and always have a smile to greet you. Carers are well informed of mum's care needs, compassionate and kind. The food is good and some staff go the extra mile. Great efforts are made to provide regular entertainment, activities and fun for all.

We found our mother was content when she moved in especially having some of her own possessions around her. As her health deteriorated she was unable to enjoy the full activities provided her interest and ability to join in declined. The care and attention given in the latter months by the staff was excellent.

My father has been to Castle Hill House for respite on two occasions. He has been treated with both the greatest of care and dignity and has enjoyed his stay. There have been many activities that he has been encouraged to participate in meaning that he is adequately stimulated. Today my father has been accepted for permanent care and myself and the family are so pleased - it means that he can be looked after in a place that he likes and we are happy with x

Following a very bad motorbike accident, my son is a resident. Once you enter through their very good security system you are made to feel very much at home by all the very dedicated staff. Although everyone is always very busy the home is always peaceful and everywhere you go is always spotlessly clean. All the residents care is to the highest standard.

My brother was a resident at the home for approximately 1 month for end of life care. Although he was a very difficult person to deal with because of his illness, the care and compassion shown by all staff at the nursing home was excellent. If I was in a circumstance and had to choose I would highly recommend this home.

My 98-year-old mother has been happily living at Castle Hill House for almost 3 years. The staff always treat her with respect and a great deal of care. We, her family are always informed if my mother has a headache and requires paracetamol. Castle Hill House is certainly a home from home. Mum 's room contains many personal items and it's her sanctuary. All the staff stop to chat with her when time allows. I wouldn't want mum to be living anywhere other than Castle Hill House. Excellent home!.

My name is Careen, I qualified as a nurse in 1985, back in the days when nurses wore large silver buckles and frilly hats. I’ve seen a lot of changes but one thing that never changes is my fascination with people and their stories; I have had the privilege of caring for someone whose job was to press the first new coins for the royal mint, the person who invented the TOG rating for duvets, a lady who travelled across the London Underground during the war with her handbag stuffed full of diamonds after the bank she worked for was bombed, I've even had occasion to sing ‘Happy 111th Birthday to you…’.

My days are as varied as the people that fill them, just one of many reasons why I love my job here at Castle Hill House.

I have worked at Castle Hill House for a total of ten years. I have enjoyed working alongside such a dedicated team, who strive to provide a person-centred approach to care for our wonderful residents.

Due to Claire's wonderful work ethic and care for our residents, she previously got through the Regional Care Finals of the National Care Awards!
