Overall Experience

My mother came to Kenwyn at the beginning of January. the initial process was handled very professionally by the Deputy Manager and the move was handled well. The staff are all very friendly, helpful and supportive. I have had issues with the laundry service which needs to be better organised. The staff treat my mother very kindly despite her dementia and frailty. She is checked every 30 minutes to ensure she is ok. The food is good and the staff have now found her portion size which makes eating easier. Overall we are very happy to have found Kenwyn for her.

Overall Experience

My mother is always well cared for and feels comfortable whenever I visit her. I feel she had a good Christmas and is contented. Her room is looking a little shabby now and needs decoration and updated with a wet room, hopefully will be done in the near future, but I understand the foyer and corridors are being decorated first. I feel residents rooms should be updated as first priority as that is where my mother spends her life and would have a greater benefit to her.

A great deal of money has been spent on the building and upgrading of rooms etc and not much spent on increasing staffing levels. The rooms were very good before improvements.

Haley Welland
Haley WellandJob Title:General ManagerJoined: 2021

Hello and welcome, I am Haley Welland, and I am the General Manager here at Kenwyn Care Home

With over a decade’s worth of experience in health and social care, I am a passionate registered manager with a wealth of knowledge, including managing nursing, residential and community care. I have extensive knowledge in supporting residents with dementia to live well and have a passion for encouraging dementia friendly support within our local community. As a dementia champion and dementia care mapper with the University of Bradford, I am competent in supporting colleagues to understand quality care for those living with dementia.

The majority of my career has been working in Cornwall with the local community and healthcare professionals, and therefore have a solid understanding of how best to support our local residents.

I have a very active role in the lives of all residents, ensuring resident-centred care is delivered by every member of staff to a high standard. My passion for quality care is fuelled by my own personal experiences of placing loved ones in the hands of care teams. I feel my own experiences have moulded me into the manager I am today, and I take pride in my ability to support residents, families and friends to make informed choices about the care options available to them, including how to live as independently for as long as possible.

I look forward to welcoming you at Kenwyn Care Home.
