The Fees stated in the Admission Form exclude the following services/items:
• Hairdressing*
• Chiropody*
• Taxis and personal transport
• Laundering of clothing requiring dry cleaning or hand washing
• Personal newspapers and periodicals
• Dental treatment*
• Optical requirements*
• Toiletries, including razors, and cosmetics
• Physiotherapy
• Staff escorts
• Alcohol for personal use
• Replacement batteries and repairs to personal property;
• Clothing (including shoes, slippers, nightwear, and underwear);
• Private health services;
• Any item purchased which should otherwise be provided free, or subsidised by the NHS, including, but not limited to, incontinence pads, spectacles, hearing aids and prostheses;
• Maintenance of personal effects;
• Luxury items;
• Continence support and products;
• Radio or private telephone in the Resident’s room;
• Holidays and outings involving transport;
• Occasional shopping (such as Christmas and birthdays) and postage;
• Special social events such as private parties and shows; and
• Any other service not stated in the provisions listed above as included in the Fees.

My 102 year old dad was admitted to Ponsandane care home in March 2025 following a short hospital stay after breaking
First impressions were good, the home well managed and spotlessly clean. The transfer from hospital was seamless and undertaken with professional confidence and kindness.
Dad deteriorated in the first week. Nursing staff ensured that he was examined medically by a GP doctor who determined that end of life, palliative care was needed. All was managed in a sensitive and pragmatic way that enabled him to achieve the good death that he wanted. He was excellently cared for throughout his three week stay.
