Ponsandane is an elegant Georgian house situated close to the centre of Penzance in west Cornwall, with stunning views across Mount’s Bay towards St Michael’s Mount. Set in its own beautifully landscaped gardens, the home provides high quality residential, respite and nursing care for older people.

The town of Penzance is easily accessible from the home by bus or car and is the most south-westerly town in Cornwall and Britain. It has the mildest climate in the country and is noted for its sub tropical trees and plants.

My mother has been at Ponsadane for several years. She seems happy and well cared for. She has had several falls resulting in broken hips etc and the staff's actions have always been extremely prompt and appropriate. The staff is always very friendly and good-natured. I have never heard my mother say
anything other than to complement them.

Due to the extreme circumstances of Covid-19. The staff at Pobsandane Care Home have done their best to keep in touch despite the lockdown and arranged and arranged phone calls and a visit with social distancing. It was lovely to see my husband and talk reassuring myself he was as well as could be expected
and well cared for in my absence.

My partner has been in Ponsandane Care home since the end of October 2019 and I have been more than satisfied with the care he has received. The carers and workers are all kind, patient, and very caring and also concerned about my needs, giving me access to visiting him and informing me of his welfare
at all times. I have visited my partner every day until the lockdown. I know he can be difficult but at all times they dealt with him with the utmost patience and kindness.

Mum is generally well looked after. Her room, although small, is usually clean and tidy. She is happy with the food, particularly the choices they provide but it is not always cut up small enough for her to manage. The staff make sure that she has her teddy with her most of the time for company. We
do have to remind the staff to have Mum's hair cut, clean her nails (which Mum dislikes) and book dentist appointments, but on the whole, the care is good. Mum sometimes complains that she is not always taken to the loo as often as she needs, but as she needs two people to assist (hoist) it might be difficult to address immediately each time. The fees were raised this year by quite a lot and whilst the head office responded promptly and explained that most were due to increased staff costs, after two emails and one letter we have not had a response from the actual home as to what the rest of the increased fee is for, especially as her care review stated that her care needs remained the same as the previous year.

The carers, nursing staff, activity co-ordinators, cleaners and maintenance team are very caring, patient, efficient and keep smiling throughout any challenges. The admin staff are always very helpful and super efficient, especially connecting me to the correct member of staff when necessary. The present

My mother has been in Ponsandane Care Home for two and a half years. She is very well cared for and all the staff at the home are caring, professional and helpful. In the two and a half years that my mother has been here, I have never had any cause for concern over her care or welfare. The home is always
clean, pleasant smelling and it has an atmosphere of care, kindness and friendliness.
