The team at Greenslades are passionate about enriching the lives of their residents, each and every day, providing care with dignity and compassion.

Providing nursing, dementia and palliative care, they also offer respite care breaks, which can be booked in advance. These are ideal for carers in the community, who would like to plan a short break themselves, knowing their loved one is in safe hands. These breaks can be for just a couple of weeks, or longer if desired.

The home-cooked food prepared by the chef is delicious, from roast dinners with all the trimmings, to fish and chip Fridays, home-made soups and lighter bites. There is also home-baking every day for afternoon tea.

This summer, the residents have been enjoying growing their own produce, from radishes and onions, to carrots and tomatoes, which the chef has used in the kitchens. There are raised beds in the gardens, perfect for residents and families who love gardening together. And for those who prefer to watch the wildlife, there are two conservatories overlooking the enclosed gardens.

The bedrooms at Greenslades are spacious and beautifully decorated, with residents encouraged to bring their own items and small pieces of furniture, to truly make them feel at home.

The home also has a hair salon for regular appointments with the hairdresser. And the residents often enjoy pamper sessions in the salon and the relaxation room, with manicures and hand massages. And in the lounges, they enjoy a variety of activities, from games to gentle exercise and music sessions.

A recent addition to the home is a giant interactive tablet, where the residents can play games and test their knowledge.

And the community are embraced into life at Greenslades, from students who visit regularly, to family and friends, who are welcome at any time. Residents also enjoy regular canine visits too!

Review from Wendy S (Partner of Resident) published on 4 May 2016 Submitted via Postal Card • Report
Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
I am familiar with this home as my brother was also cared for here for appropriately 2 years. It is a pleasant spacious environment with options for sitting privately in a residents room, the lounges, sun room and gardens. Staff are caring and attentive and I have never witnessed any inappropriate behaviour.
Since new management took over some staff have left but not to any detriment as far as I can see. Access for visiting and parking is sufficient and the river with cafes and much to see is lovely, Dr is assigned to Greenslades, visits regularly and is excellent. Staff here do a difficult job well and I feel assured that my partner is safe and well cared for.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.604) out of 10 for Greenslades Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 39 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 37 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.604 for Greenslades Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (313 Excellents x 5) + (113 Goods x 4) + (22 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 455 Ratings = 4.604
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Greenslades Nursing Home is based on 37 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 67 registered maximum number of service users is 13.4, which has been reached with 37 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I started off in care when I was 19, looking after my father and decided this was what I wanted to do for a career as I wanted to make a difference.

I have worked my way through all roles in all different sectors of social care to get to where I am now. I have been in management for 10 years now and I wouldn’t change a thing.

Care is my life and passion and I love learning something new every day. I am honoured that I can say that I truly love what I do and I am privileged and lucky to have a career with a company that shares the same passion.
