The staff here are lovely. My mum loves the banter and looks forward to seeing them and they are very kind and caring too. The home is clean and has nice communal room, although my Mum's room is a bit on the dark side, we feel like it's a family. The food is very good and our mum has put on weight.

On my visits, I'm very pleased with mums care. Mum is very fond of two of the carers and I think they are excellent. Mum has settled well and is happy I'm able to say as I think it is a lovely care home and very welcoming and the atmosphere is great.

Knappe Cross is a lovely care home in a homely setting, the management and staff are first class, everything is so well run, my wife is very happy there. You always feel welcomed there. The food is excellent and the residents are treated with great respect. They also have nice entertainment sometimes
which I can see the residents enjoy very much, I would recommend Knappe Cross to anyone.

Very welcoming when my husband first moved in (August) and helped the difficult transition to full-time care very well.
Staff are very kind and friendly. Nursing standard is high. Very accommodating with regard to special requests i.e clothes for special occasions, getting ready to be taken out.

My aunt, now 96, has been at Knappe Cross for 2 1/2 years following a broken leg. Nearly every visit she says "This is a nice place - I could recommend it to anyone, and the food is good". She never mentions the house she left behind, so she must be happy! Staff keep us informed about changes to her
health and are particularly caring now she has become very frail. Lovely old building with extensive grounds and a cup of tea always provided for visitors! Well done Knappe Cross

My dad has been here for the last two years but sadly he has come to the end of his life. He was really reluctant to go into a home but he settled well. Staff very caring and I would definitely recommend.

Current Review Score: 8.7 (8.664)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.664) out of 10 for Knappe Cross Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.813 for Knappe Cross Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (40 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.813
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.851 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Knappe Cross Care Centre is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.4 = 0.476
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
