Redmount Residential Home is situated in the picturesque village of Buckfastleigh, within the heart of the Southwest Devon countryside but only a few minutes’ drive from the A38.

This splendid villa residence occupies a particularly beautiful setting on the edge of Buckfastleigh, half a mile from the famous Buckfastleigh Abbey. An outside decking area provides residents with stunning views, and the opportunity to enjoy the sunshine and fresh country air.

Redmount is a first class home, in every sense of the term. The dedicated, highly qualified staff are committed to maintaining excellent care, and are in tune with the daily needs of each of our residents. Staff take great pride in introducing their home to you.

Redmount is registered with the South and West Devon Health Authority and Devon County Council as a Nursing and Residential Home.

The Home normally accommodates residents on a long-term basis, although some residents may be accepted for short-term respite stays. The range of accommodation comprises of single and companion rooms, most with en-suite facilities. All rooms have a nurse call system, wash hand basins and other individual comforts.

There are several well-appointed lounge areas with televisions and two dining rooms, one of which is a conservatory with far reaching views overlooking the fish pond.

Library books and other appropriate diversions are provided, and hobbies and events are arranged by the activities coordinator. Residents are encouraged to have a place in the community and to become involved in events and group activities outside the home. These often include shopping and sightseeing trips, and similarly engaging activities.

As I live a long way from my Dad it is a great comfort to me to know that at Redmount he is looked after so well. His room is very comfortable, spacious and light. It is decorated to a high standard and kept very clean and the meals look very appetising. My sister can visit regularly and the staff always have time to talk to her about Dad's care etc. Although Dad is not an easy resident and does not co-operate with the staff, they do their utmost to look after him and are always kind towards him. Whenever I do visit, I can do so at any time and always receive a warm welcome from members of staff on duty. In my professional life, I have provided training in many nursing homes and I have a sense of goodwill from the staff and a sense of caring at Redmount and feel confident in that they will do everything they can to make my Dad's stay there as comfortable as possible.

I have found the staff pleasant, courteous and genuinely affectionate towards my mother who at times can be a little challenging. Weekdays there is a determined effort to engage the residents in some form of activity intended to entertain and/or stimulate them physically and mentally. With the help of volunteers, occasional outside activities are arranged either in the local town or further afield using the homes wheelchair adapted minibus. Occasionally there are staff, resident and relatives meetings to discuss any problems or concerns and to brainstorm any ideas that could help all parties achieve better outcomes for the residents. There are no restrictions on visiting times and te and cake are always forthcoming. This all helps to generate a free and relaxed atmosphere within the home. The home is well led and any concerns are addressed as soon as practically possible. Should any medical conditions occur, prompt action is taken. The relevant authorities contacted as required for the resident's best interest. The time in attending to resident calls can sometimes be protracted, but with many residents to attend to this is not surprising, the staff cannot be everywhere at once. Redmount Residential Home is to be recommended.

My experience when I visit my Grandad is always excellent. All the staff are extremely friendly with all residents and visitors and are very helpful with any person that requires their assistance.

I visit my Nan twice a week, she's always happy. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. The food choice is good. She will never starve. I feel she is well looked after.

Redmount cared for my mother for 6 years. She was well looked after and benefited greatly from the care provided by the kind and professional staff. The activities organised by Redmount were enjoyed by her and made a difference. As her condition deteriorated and her behaviour became more challenging, we worked with the team to allow her to stay there and she had one to one care on a regular basis to stimulate her mentally.

Two very special ladies took a particular part in this and taught me how to reach her, even in the latter stages of her condition. They managed to put her in front of the condition and you could at times forget the dementia which is amazing. Her care at the end was of the best and Redmount looked after us as the family too. Thank you for everything you did for Mum over the last six years.

My mother suffered from dementia and spent six years at Redmount Nursing & Residential Home.
I have nothing but admiration for the staff who looked after her. They were patient, kind and thoughtful throughout, despite having many calls on their time they cared or her with understanding and sympathy. During the more challenging times, they did their best even though it was very difficult. I will always be grateful to them.

The standard of care, commitment, giving medication, willingness to try alternatives and kind and thoughtful treatment of residents has been extraordinarily high from all the staff in Redmount, without exception as observed on my many visits, some overnight in the last 6 years. The staff appear to me to be all saints with endless patience in the most difficult circumstances and lovely people.
