Hill House Nursing home has been providing excellent care and supporting residents since it opened in 1965. Most of the bedrooms are en-suite and located in a bright purpose built extension. Part of the home dates from the 14th century with exposed beams, inglenook fireplaces and is steeped in character.

Hill House ensures that residents have all their home comforts and receive outstanding care from the highly skilled nursing, caring and professional staff.

The home prides itself on its professional and holistic service. There is a full range of social activities and an entertainment programme led by an activity coordinator who devises a wide range of activities to meet resident’s abilities and interests. Well being is very important to the home and the home also ensures freshly cooked wholesome food is served at all times.

Would just like to say thanks to all the staff for their support and the care they give to my father. The home is clean and well maintained and there is every effort made to make it a home from home.
The staff are always very welcoming and any enquiries or problems are dealt with promptly.

I have found the care staff and management brilliant over the past 4 months.
My mum arrived for a rest and decided to stay permanent. The care is good and nothing is too much trouble. Just sometimes looks under staffed.

My mother has settled very well at Hill House after her reluctance to go into care, she is now very happy. The staff are very efficient and attentive to look after her needs. We always feel welcomed by staff and there is a family atmosphere to help us feel at home. We have no worries and are very grateful.

My mother has been a resident at Hill House for over a year and recently passed away. She has received such wonderful care from the staff at Hill House and they made her final months with us so much more comfortable for her. I have been so impressed by all the stimulating social experiences like the

My father spent 5-6 weeks here and would definitely not recommend this home to any loved ones or friends. Always understaffed, management is awful! The actual care team (nurses, carer assistants) are lovely people, they just can't manage the workload. The rooms are adequate and the food is okay, but
that's the only real positive thing I can say. More of a business than an actual "care" home in our opinion so definitely avoid if you can.

Thank you for taking the time to review our service, even though it's disheartening & has personally saddened me. I would like to address your concerns regarding staffing levels. We use a dependency tool reviewed weekly by our Director and daily by me. Our staffing adjusts based on residents' needs. For 36-40 residents, we typically have 1 RGN, 1 AP, 7 HCAs, a tea trolley assistant, housekeepers, laundry assistants, cooks, and managers, with appropriate adjustments on night shifts. I won't deny our residents at times have high dependency needs, but both Managers and the RGN/AP staff, support the HCA team on the floor when necessary. I am proud of my team and the high standards they uphold, with person-centered care at the core of everything we do, focusing on dignity, privacy, and inclusion. Our values ensure that we deliver the highest quality of care, and we've received many positive reviews reflecting this. I would have welcomed the chance to discuss your concerns directly and openly.

The moment I was received, the welcoming was very warm. I settled immediately into my room. Ample room and lovely window view. The staff were outstanding and nothing was too much for me to ask. Everything, and I mean everything was done with great alacrity and sincerity. The food was "fantastic" home-cooked,
and the care put into the daily bakes "wow", superb food. All in all, I would like to give a big thank you to all of the team. Keep it up.

The staff are wonderful, friendly, caring, and supportive. They work very hard although I feel they could do with more staff, sometimes they are all so rushed!
The food is very good, well cooked but served cold at times.
Overall I would recommend this home to friends and family.
I spend at least
4 hours every day to help feed my husband and do his personal care (shaving, cleaning nails and teeth).

My husband is cared for with dignity and respect. The staff are caring and supportive of us both. The manager is readily available and visible on the floor and never makes you feel she is too busy to listen. There are dedicated entertainment staff and activities and entertainment is provided almost
daily. The staff of all grades work together as a team to create a professional but warm, friendly atmosphere. Any small problem is dealt with timely and respectfully. Open visiting makes me feel welcome. I knew immediately that Hill House was the best place to help us both adjust to the difficult decision of my husband going into care.

A very caring home. The staff are very attentive to their residents and needs and nothing seems too much trouble for them. Activities are organised and seemed to be enjoyed. Recently my dad has been very poorly and unable to eat or drink anything. The dedication the team showed him has been amazing. They were quick to respond to his difficulties and contacted all relevant parties. He is now sat up and bright! Really can't thank everyone enough for the devotion and care

I am not a religious person but if you believe in angels, they are working at Hill House. Every single member of staff deserves praise and endless thanks. Outstanding is the level of professionalism at Hill House.
Exceptional are all of the staff, nursing, domestic, catering, activities and entertainment, maintenance and of course the management. (Hope I have not forgotten anyone)
My experience is from March through to July, thus far. I have had previous
experience of long-term residence, for both of my parents at Hill House and without any doubt, knew where my loved one would be cared for and taken care of when I was no longer capable of doing so.
I applaud you all and thank you sincerely. Anyone reading this and undecided about where to look for a placement for their loved one, need look no further.

My aunt is at Hill House for palliative care. She is 96 and on end-of-life care. The staff are very friendly and attentive, and she is very well looked after.

I have been in the nursing home daily since my wife arrived. The staff have been cooperative at all times considering the number of dementia patients and the pressure of work they have I found all of them very good. Caring for someone with this condition is not easy, as I well know. Thank you.

My sister is so well cared for by very loving staff. She is always clean well dressed and very happy. We are made so welcome when we visit even when we have our dog with us. Her hair and nails (manicures) are regularly done.

The staff at Hill House Nursing Home are amazing, always got time even though they are extremely busy. My mum is very well cared and looked after. Having access to the online care control, I can see the daily comments that are made regarding Mum and what she has been doing (mainly singing!). I would
love to move my mum closer to where I live but know that would not be in the best interests for my mum and whether she would get the same care/assistance/cuddles/tea cakes/nails painted as she does at Hill House. Thank you to all staff involved.

My mother was placed here for end-of-life care and was in the home for about five weeks until her death. During those weeks she and her close family visitors were treated with the utmost kindness and care by all members of the team. There was humour and tenderness in how the tasks of caring for a very
frail person were undertaken and the attention from the medical staff was first-class throughout.
Thank you to everyone at Hill House who accompanied my mother to her peaceful passing.
