Staff extremely caring, nothing too much trouble. Food is hot on time and cooked on premises. Room is cleaned every day. My brother is washed and shaved, and head shaved when needed, or have a shower if wanted. Visiting is quite flexible.

My husband has been in this nursing home since July 2025 he has received exceptional care and kindness. All the carers and nurses at Mount Olivet make sure all residents are well looked after, and treated with respect. The managers are also very caring and interact with the residents and are very kind.

My mother stayed for a whole year at Mount Olivet Nursing Home. It was the most loving and happy home we could have wished for. The pleasant environment and view from her room wa a joy and I knew she would like it there. Most importantly the staff were so caring, competent and thorough I could relax knowing mum had everything she needed and extras like activities, outings and musicians. The management staff were reassuring and nothing was too much trouble. Kitchen staff taylored meals to suit and I will miss them all very much. Thank you to cleaners, maintenance & laundry staff also.

My husband and father was in your home for the last 3 1/2 months. His care was excellent, the staff were friend, respectful, kind and went beyond their duty caring for him. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The chef would oblige with any food that was asked for. The management team kept us informed of every level of care dad was at. You also looked after our mum everyday she was with dad. We thank you for everything.

Although my neighbour waa only in for 5 days, the care and attention that he received from staff can not be faulted. They looked after him extremely well and also looked after his wife and I. Nothing was too much trouble. His room overlooked a pretty garden and was bright and comfortable. We can highly recommend this nursing home.

While staying for his care and rehabilitation needs at the nursing home after his long complicated hospitalization following an emergency cardio-thoracic surgery and series of life-threatening conditions, unfortunately on a nice day while having a nap time, I woke up next to my partner gasping for air as he was suffering a Cardiac Arrest. The staffs promptly came to our rescue as I have pressed the emergency button and shouted for help. The manager and the on-duty nurse alternately provided chest compressions while I give breaths (as I am also trained to give CPR working as a carer myself) to my partner while someone immediately call 999 for assistance which came quickly followed by an air ambulance team. The staffs are trained to use a defibrillator device which has been used to my partner with the guidance of the individual who took the 999 call. I am very grateful for the immediate response and help from everyone that day because of their help I still have my partner alive with me.

The review only specifies 1 month but my review is based on a 12 month residency.
I visited the nursing home prior to my Mother taking up residency. I was struck firstly by the cleanliness of all areas I saw. The rooms I saw, that my Mother would be offered, were all light, and well decorated. These rooms either had views onto a well kept garden, with patio door access, or on upper floors, a sea and coastal view.
The manageress was both professional and reassuring. I made my decision on my initial assessment, not the CQC rating. The latest rating is now rated at 'good',which is well deserved.
All carer staff are very well trained and carry out their role professionally.
The home has its own transport, and driver.
A variety of interests and entertainment is provided.
The nursing staff listen to residents families and do carry out their wishes if these are sensible and do not jeopardise the residents health.

The management is excellent, giving confidence in the care provided.

Having to move my mother unexpectedly into care after a deterioration in health, was made so much easier due to the diligence and respect shown by all of the staff and management at Mount Olivet. Mum adjusted so much more quickly than I expected due to the friendly and welcoming staff who engaged with her. The care and attention demonstrated were always to the highest level, and whenever I visited, Mum always spoke highly of everyone. She even went as far as saying that she missed everyone there when admitted to hospital. Sadly we lost Mum recently, but I am so grateful to everyone at Mount Olivet for the care and compassion they showed her, and I wish to extend our sincere thanks for making her final days happy ones.

I live four hours from the area. I had to be assured that my father was treated with respect for his dignity and well-being. During my visits, I could see that there was a genuine warmth to all in their care. Moreso that this warmth towards the staff from Father was reciprocal.

A member of the hospital staff helped me choose a nursing home for my brother. I lived in the north of England and my brother had lived in Devon. He wished to remain in Devon. After speaking to management I made my decision. My brother was happy there, he said the staff were caring and on my visits, I found them supportive.

My mother lived at Mount Olivet for several months until she passed away just before Christmas. She received end-of-life care and passed away peacefully at the grand old age of 92. I would like to thank all the staff at Mount Olivet for their kind and loving care of my mother. Including the manager, the nurses and all the wonderful carers. A staff member needs a special mention. Also including the housekeeping staff, the chefs and kitchen staff. Not only did they provide my mother with exceptional care at the most difficult time of her life, they also looked after our family so well at such a distressing time. They really made a very challenging time bearable. I will never forget their care. I would recommend this nursing home wholeheartedly. Thank you all for your kindness.

My dad received palliative care at Mount Olivet. Sadly he was only there for a couple of weeks before he passed away. Dad received the most amazing care by all the carers, nurses, I didn't have to worry about anything. Nothing was too much trouble and I'm sure Dad was grateful for all the kindness he was shown. The staff were all lovely, friendly, polite and helpful. They looked after me as much as Dad, always checking I was ok, if I needed food and drinks, I was even allowed to sleep in Dad's room to be with him. I can't thank Mount Olivet enough. Thank you for everything.
