All of the staff at Mount Olivet Nursing Home are supportive, friendly and loving. I could not wish for a better place for my father's "end of life" care.

A lovely nursing home, I work away at sea knowing my mum is well cared for. Very kind and caring staff. My mum who has suffered several strokes is unable to do anything except say very few words. She is in a very caring, well-managed place where the staff manage to make her laugh in a cruel existence. The whole ambience of the nursing home is a home of great care and management. My mum is very happy there. My mum enjoys pet/dog visits and wants them daily!! Thank you.

Reply from Karen Dykes, Manager at Mount Olivet Nursing Home

Thank you for that lovely feedback. It is lovely to see how much mum enjoys the pet therapy here in the home. We want the doggies daily.

Excellent, friendly nursing home. The staff are great, they go the extra mile and their attention to detail is brilliant. The home is very clean and they make the residents feel like they are at home. Would thoroughly recommend the home to anyone.

Review from Christine W (Friend of Resident) published on 2 November 2018 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My first visit to the care home showed clearly why it had received an 'outstanding' rating in the CQC report. The level of concern for the resident and for his friends/family was immediately obvious and the attention to detail of the resident's needs was remarkable.
The level of concern shown regarding the move from hospital was also very encouraging. It was very clear that the priority was well-being of the resident. This has been maintained since.
The complex medical needs, including arrangement of medical appointments, are dealt with in a professional and very organised manner. Every member of the staff, not only the 'front line' nursing staff but also those working to maintain the building or launder clothes, are respectful, kind, pleasant, supportive and upbeat.

The nursing staff are always ready to listen to concerns about our resident friend. It is very challenging to engage all residents in activities. We would like to see our friend interact more, but he is reluctant to do so.

Reply from Karen Dykes, Manager at Mount Olivet Nursing Home

Thank you Christine for that extremely positive feedback for the home and staff. It is great that we feel we can implement the care that our residents deserve. We will continue to support and encourage your friend in all his choices, wishes and beliefs.

My friend moved into Mount Olivet 2 1/2 years ago after she had fractured her left femur. Since that time sadly her dementia slowly took away her ability to do things for herself. The nursing and care staff at Mount Olivet always put my friend's personal welfare and dignity first. She could not have been better cared for and was treated with both respect and affection. Sadly, my friend died at the end of August but she was well cared for to the end and died in her own room with those who cared for her by her side and she was at peace.

A very sad loss for you and us. It was an honour to have known and cared for such a lovely lady. Our thoughts are with you and all the staff at Mount Olivet thank you for taking the time to put your thoughts into this review.

I really would not fault Mount Olivet, neither would mum. Within a couple of days, she regarded it as home and was completely relaxed and happy. She said staff could not have been better or more helpful. I was always made to feel welcome it certainly felt like home. The help and support from initial contact and all of mum's stay could not be bettered. Thank you all so much for making a difficult time easier.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Mount Olivet. My mum has been spending her last days here. The level of care, professionalism and kindness has been OUTSTANDING. The numbers and quality of staff really differentiate Mount Olivet. It's pretty horrible watching our mother die but also extremely comforting to know that her last hours were in such fine hands.

My mother came to Mount Olivet for end of life care. In the time Mum was there, I found the attitude of every staff member I met, from kitchen staff to housekeeping to care assistants, to nurses, to managers and admin/finance, absolutely outstanding - they were so helpful and caring and concerned and professional. They were all a great source of comfort to me and our family.
They really helped to relieve the stress we were under because we knew Mum was in very safe and caring hands.

In my view the standard of care and nursing they gave Mum was outstanding.

I am very happy that I have come to reside at Mount Olivet Nursing Home. I can at last start to live my life. The food is good and the carers are excellent, the nurses are superb. The home has a nice atmosphere, no visiting restrictions (which is very important to me) and I only wish I could have come here four years ago after having a stroke. I told someone viewing today the home is "wonderful".

We were so relieved to find such a lovely, friendly home for my mother in her last few weeks.
The nursing and care staff treated mum with great care and dignity and did everything they could to meet her needs.
She had a comfortable room overlooking an attractive garden. The room was always kept clean and clothes were beautifully laundered.

The kitchen staff went out of their way to give food and drink that mum liked and made sure that family members had meals when required. All the staff were kind to my mother and our family. It was a great comfort to us knowing that our mother was so well looked after at the end of her life.

My mother-in-law came from the hospital after spending time in two residential homes. From the moment we walked through the door the staff were friendly, caring and sensitive to the needs of the patient. At last, my mother-in-law's pain was managed and she was cared for with compassion and sensitivity. At a difficult time, I can't explain how reassuring it was to know that she was, at last, having the best care she deserved. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

What a relief it was to find Mount Olivet. As my mother's needs became more and more extensive it was clear we needed a home that could provide full nursing care and immediately when I entered Mount Olivet I knew we had found the right one. My mum is very well cared for and treated with dignity and respect. To top it all she has a fabulous room that overlooks Torbay.
