The home is really good. Residents are well cared for, well fed. Needs are dealt with quickly. I am very happy with everything. My husband has been here for nearly 3 years and I have no worries.

From my first telephone conversation with the Manager, I felt very comfortable and welcomed. This feeling was confirmed when I visited by the attitude of the Manager and the homely atmosphere there. During my mother's short stay I was extremely impressed with all members of staff. Everyone from all
denominations, showed care, compassion, consideration and respect, not only to my Mum but also to me. Sadly Mum passed away after only 3 weeks but, again, they ensured this was as peaceful as possible. At all times Mum's care and wellbeing were paramount, but not only Mum's, mine also. They all gave me such support during an extremely difficult time and made sure I was as comfortable and looked after as possible. I certainly made the best choice of home for Mum and I have nothing but praise and admiration for all the staff, but especially the Manager, who is obviously a great team leader and enormous asset.

My husband who does not have dementia but cannot walk said to me a few weeks after moving into Highcliffe "If I can't be at home then I'm happy here". There could be no higher recommendation. Staff are caring, capable and approachable, the home is well kept and I am able to have peace of mind knowing
he is being well looked after. If I become unable to look after myself, I'll see if they have room for me.

Having visited my uncle a few times unannounced I was so touched by his level of care when he's been in the lounge or in his room. Carers are constantly checking on him, making sure he has drinks, asking if he's ok and also take the time to be 'his friend', chatting with him! All staff are so friendly,
caring and attentive. The place is always so clean and homely and so welcoming to visitors too. The staff are truly incredible!

Just the best well run nursing home in Dorset......the staff are excellent, the food is fantastic always looks so fresh...... everyone is always so helpful when I ring the doorbell, to let me into the home.
I was talking to the manager the other day and she was just the best so helpful and understanding
about anything I was asking her. I think the home is a lovely place to live...... the rooms are a good size and good value for the fee they charge.
They have lots of things going on in the home .... from animals coming in to live music on Thursday, I love coming in to the care cafe on the first Thursday of the month to talk about different things going on in the local community.......and the person who runs care cafe is just excellent at what he does .....he knows his stuff, and he is so HAPPY to help on any topic we talk about.
And I hear he is also involved in gaining the gold standard award for the home, this is an excellent idea for the home.

We chose Highcliffe Nursing Home for Mum, as her dementia worsened, in 2015 mostly because it was convenient for Dad to visit on his mobility scooter. We also liked the fact that my wife and I could call in unannounced at any time to keep an eye on her (you hear such terrible stories in the press).


As it turned out I don't think we could have chosen anywhere better. Dad visited most days but his mobility issues meant that he needed help in and out of the building and the staff were always there to support him.


Whilst, from the outside, the care home may not look as modern as others, what's important is what happens inside. Certainly, my wife and I always felt that Mum was well cared for and very much loved by all the staff. The care and support offered not only to her but to us during her final days were wonderful and it was a comfort to know that she died in her own bed, surrounded by familiar voices and people who loved her. We feel like we've lost an extended family ourselves.

Dad has dementia and is not mobile so he needs a lot of help and attention at the home which I am confident that he receives. My wife and I live a long distance from the home (my brother and his wife live nearby) so we phone him in between visits and it is never too much trouble for the staff to take
the phone to Dad and help him while we have a conversation.


When we visit Dad it is usually unannounced but we are always met by friendly and helpful staff and the home is in consistently good order. It is clear from Dad's responses that he always enjoys his meals and he has a friendly relationship with staff. Staff are very attentive to Dad and have a lot of patience with him even when he has some not so good days.


We are confident that Dad is as happy as he can be, safe and comfortable due to the constant care of staff and management of the home. This is very reassuring as we live so far away.

Due to my Dad’s deteriorating health, he has had to move from independent living with care to Highcliffe Nursing home. We have been so impressed with how caring, helpful and understanding your staff have been. It has made a tough and emotional transition much easier to deal with for us all and Dad has
taken to his move so much better than expected.
We are thoroughly impressed with the kindness and quality of care you are providing. Dad’s Care Plan has been thorough and humanistic and covers all aspect of his care and accounts for his personality.
I appreciate the staff working with him even on his grumpy days!

I and the rest of the family were very impressed with the care received by my father. The premises are excellent but even more impressive were the staff. Their caring attitude helped my mother through a difficult time and ensured that my father's last days were as comfortable as possible.

My mother was in this home for several weeks, following a severe stroke which left her paralysed and unable to speak. The care staff were very kind, the catering staff were good, the helpers and assistants were friendly. Mum is now living back with us but the staff in the care home looked after her
while we were trying to re-arrange our house to enable us to have mum back at home. It was nice for her to have a garden to look at.

My husband has been resident at Highcliffe Nursing home for nearly 3 years. He suffers from Parkinsons and Lewy Body Dementia. He has been very well cared for by the dedicated staff. When I visit him (unannounced) he is always clean and in his own clothes and the staff treat him with respect and
dignity. There is not a large turnover of staff which I feel is always a good sign, and staff are always kind to me and our son. I am telephoned with updates when necessary and the Manager and I are often in email communication.


My husband has previously been in other care homes and the hospital and I am far happier with his treatment here than anywhere else.


Whenever I can, I thank the staff as they all behave most professionally in very difficult situations. I am most grateful to them all.

My father entered Highcliffe Nursing Home just before Christmas 2016, he was suffering from vascular dementia and lung cancer. From the moment of his arrival, all the staff were warm, caring, professional and made him feel at home.
As I live abroad and there is no other family, I felt reassured that
he was being well taken care of.
I am so grateful to the management and all her team for caring for my father in his last few months.

The staff could not have been more friendly or welcoming to my father in the late stages of his dementia & indeed to our family. Even though Dad sadly only spent his last 3 weeks in the very capable hands of the managers & support staff, they couldn't have been more respectful & caring. They showed
him every kindness, with true compassion & patience. As much as I was dreading leaving Dad in a nursing home when I couldn't cope at home single-handed anymore, I couldn't have been more reassured & my mind put to rest by their constant communication & vigilance. It made all the difference to Dad & myself & took all the worry away. I cannot praise them too highly or thank them enough.

We normally visit once per week always unannounced so nothing could be hidden or disguised for the cynical.
The management and care staff without exception are dedicated and truly amazing people, not only when we visit but when we phone too.
Whilst the "hardware" (the physical building itself) may
not be five-star luxury, the staff are absolutely the best. My father is treated with great care, respected and love at all times. I can see he is as happy as he can be, even in his sadly diminished state. The staff's optomistic and cheerful willing attitude is infectious to my dad and other residents too, as well as us. A big thank you to all!

My mum was admitted to Highcliffe Nursing Home in July 2016. She was in the final stages of lung cancer and unable to do much for herself. As I am sure is common with lots of patients - she didn't want to die, hated being dependent and just wanted it all to go away so she could go home. This meant
she was never going to be the most cooperative or friendly patient. The staff at Highcliffe, however, were never phased by this and mum's general grumpiness was always met by smiling, kind, caring and efficient staff. We were able to visit nearly every day - sometimes twice a day - and so could see that all the staff who dealt with mum had the same cheerful but professional approach at all times. This was a very difficult time for us and I consider we were very lucky to have had the support, assistance and courtesy of all the staff there. I wish I could thank all the staff by name, but special mention must go to our Nurse and the team leaders.

My mum transferred to Highcliffe from Hertfordshire in Sept 2016. She brought with her photographs of the family and her own television.
She settled in very well from the beginning and has never looked back. She is quite mobile and enjoys the musical activities in the downstairs lounge. She is able
to feed herself and is often escorted to the downstairs dining room to eat her lunch with some of the other residents. The staff are all very kind and caring and she benefits from their interactions and their cuddles. She is well looked after and my brother and I know that she is in a safe and caring environment. We are very happy with the care and feel that all the staff work well together to provide my mum with the best possible care outside of her home.

Job Title: Home Manager

I started my career as a secretary for Lloyds Bank in 1981 and became a PA for the Business Banking Managers. The Business Banking department relocated to Poole in 2007, and I decided it was time for a change because of the travelling. An advertisement for a part-time administrator/Activities person at Highcliffe Nursing Home caught my eye, and I have never looked back. The company have supported me to progress in my career from Administrator to Business Manager, Deputy Manager, Registered Manager at Highcliffe, now including Operations Manager for the South. I love being around and supporting elderly people, as I had such a close relationship with my grandparents that I thought this was the job for me, and it is. I am passionate that we provide the best care, lots of laughter and fun, which we do our very best to provide.

Joanne Jarvis

Job Title: Deputy Manager

I am an enthusiastic, caring, and dependable registered nurse who thrives on making a difference. With over 15 years of care experience, I started my career as a health care assistant and progressed my way up to senior care assistant before I went on to complete my nursing degree back in 2019. I started working at Highcliffe Nursing in February 2024, I am the home's deputy manager. I love that Highcliffe Nursing Home has its ethos of care built around its residents. I have a passion for helping people achieve their best possible level of health and well-being, and I can continue doing so thanks to this positive culture Highcliffe Nursing Home has. In my free time, I do a lot of volunteering in and around the community of Highcliffe, I also enjoy setting up and participating in charity fundraisers for local charities and charities close to my heart, such as the Alzheimer’s Society and MacMillan Cancer Support.

Emma and her partner moved from North Devon to Dorset in May 2022. Her background is in office administration and reception duties and she has previously worked as a medical receptionist. She has been able to bring all her experience into her role at Highcliffe. On days off, she loves going on long walks in the New Forest and along the beach.

Job Title: Clinical Lead

With over 23 years of experience in the care industry, I have developed a deep passion for providing exceptional care. My journey began in India, where I worked as a Registered Nurse and Midwife, gaining invaluable experience in High Dependency Medical and Surgical Units. I joined Highcliffe in 2017 as a Support Worker, a role I embraced wholeheartedly. After successfully completing my foreign nurse exams and registering with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), I progressed to Registered Nurse, then Senior Nurse, and now proudly serve as the Clinical Lead. My extensive experience in care home settings, including roles as Senior Carer, Team Leader, and Trainer, has equipped me with strong leadership and clinical skills. I am truly passionate about my work and feel fortunate to be a part of Highcliffe, where we are like family. My long tenure here is a testament to how much I love working in this supportive and rewarding environment.


In my spare time, I enjoy creating educational videos as an influencer, pursuing my love for cooking, and cherishing moments with my family—my world.
