As usual, I can't speak too strongly about how happy I am about my husband's stay at Highcliffe. The staff are so lovely to him, several of them going over and above their normal duties to do extra things for him. As he's become frailer they have adapted to his extra needs, e.g pureeing his good as
he was prone to choking. Many of the staff including, housekeeping, maintenance and reception pop in to see him and share a laugh and a joke. He loved the staff and I can see they love him. I am very happy about his care and have no worries when I'm not there. It gives me peace of mind. Like I've said lately, even if I won the lottery, I would never dream of moving him. We love Highcliffe.

My father took a few days to settle down, but once he had, he enjoyed being in the nursing home. The staff were excellent and always happy to answer phone calls, and took my father out for a walk on a couple of occasions.
My father was only staying for 2 weeks' respite, but if/when required again,
he will definitely be going to Highcliffe.
Thank you for all your care and delicious birthday cake.

From walking through the door and being welcomed by the deputy manager, we were impressed with Highcliffe Care Home. It is a light, modern, spacious and attractive home with a very peaceful atmosphere. We found all the staff very welcoming, friendly and helpful. We are very grateful for the care our
daughter received during her short stay at Highcliffe Care Home.

It is generally a lovely place, well managed, and with a vast majority of dedicated and patient staff who treat residents with respect and dignity. (Including my mum, I'm delighted to say). Let down a bit though by a few snotty members of staff, especially nurses (not all) who give out medicine and
don't seem to like residents being taken out by their family! Who, in my opinion, is more suited to work in a hospital than a care home, and so won't have that problem. But this is minor compared with so many lovely staff who make it the friendly, homely, loving place it is.
Reply from Highcliffe Manager, Home Manager at Highcliffe Nursing HomeThank you for your honest feedback and as discussed I will share with the nursing team - we are happy for our residents to engage in the community as long as medication is safely managed. Very pleased to know you have such high regards for the home and the team.

I would not hesitate to recommend Highcliffe Nursing Home, they are professional, friendly, efficient and nothing is too much trouble for either the residents or the relatives. They even helped out when we had to adopt a little undercover work with the laundry and my mum never realised!
We were so
lucky my mum stayed at this nursing home, do not hesitate.

My mum is very happy and content in the Highcliffe Nursing Home, she has a good routine, she loves the food, which is always of the highest standard. She enjoys all the activities, which are thoughtfully planned. The staff are very supportive and friendly to my mum and the whole family. I thoroughly
recommend it.

Originally planned for a 4-week respite break but due to ongoing medical issues had to extend it to 12 weeks. The staff were very understanding and were happy to keep extending the care while my wife recovered from her illness.
My father soon settled in and enjoyed his stay (He has early dementia).
His room was lovely with an en-suite shower room. The staff were very happy and cheerful and always willing to help with any requests.
Will use it again for respite care if necessary.

My husband who died recently was a resident at Highcliffe Nursing Home for about five and a half years. He was well cared for in every way. Unlike the previous home he was in, he never asked when he was coming home, and was always smiling, clean and well-fed. I visited the home regularly and only ever
saw residents treated with respect and kindness.

I am a carer for a resident at this lovely care home, I come every Friday and take him out for lunch.
Every time I have visited I have noticed just how lovely the staff (carers, nurses, care coordinators and admin/reception) are, not only to me but especially to the residents. The way they speak to
them is so very gentle and kind. I would definitely recommend this place to anybody who is looking for somewhere for a family member.

My mother was only in Highcliffe for just over 4 weeks before she died. In that time she was very well looked after. The staff are very helpful and support the family throughout the process.
Out of a number of care homes we visited when we entered Highcliffe we knew this was the one for our mother.
Unfortunately
Mum was not fit enough to make use of a number of the activities this care home offers its residents.
I would recommend Highcliffe to anyone looking for a care home.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.752)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.752) out of 10 for Highcliffe Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 26 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.752 for Highcliffe Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (234 Excellents x 5) + (59 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 298 Ratings = 4.752
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Highcliffe Nursing Home is based on 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 62 registered maximum number of service users is 12.4, which has been reached with 25 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I started my career as a secretary for Lloyds Bank in 1981 and became a PA for the Business Banking Managers. The Business Banking department relocated to Poole in 2007, and I decided it was time for a change because of the travelling. An advertisement for a part-time administrator/Activities person at Highcliffe Nursing Home caught my eye, and I have never looked back. The company have supported me to progress in my career from Administrator to Business Manager, Deputy Manager, Registered Manager at Highcliffe, now including Operations Manager for the South. I love being around and supporting elderly people, as I had such a close relationship with my grandparents that I thought this was the job for me, and it is. I am passionate that we provide the best care, lots of laughter and fun, which we do our very best to provide.
