Waterloo Care Home is a real home for life near the lovely market town of Wimborne, in Dorset., providing affordable residential, dementia and respite care.
Staff have the specialist training and experience to care for people with mixed dementia, vascular dementia, frontotemporal dementia, Alzheimer’s disease and dementia with Lewy bodies, Parkinson’s, mental health issues and historic brain injury.
There are 36 single bedrooms, across the ground floor and the first floor. The first floor is fully accessible, by stairs or a lift. All rooms have en-suites or washbasins in the room. The rooms without en-suites have accessible bathrooms nearby.
Some first-floor rooms have balconies, with space for a table and chairs, pots and a birdfeeder. Some of the ground-floor bedrooms have patio doors which open out onto the garden.
Residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms with their own photos and furniture. Personal possessions help residents feel at home and provide extra stimulation and time for reminiscence.
Each bedroom’s front door is a different colour and style, with its own number, door knocker and letterbox, which makes it more recognisable.
Waterloo boasts a three-acre garden, with a backdrop of trees beyond. It’s enclosed and safe and there’s plenty of space to sit out on the patio or to do a bit of gardening.

Waterloo Care Home is very good, clean and the staff are all very helpful. We are very satisfied with the way my 92-year-old mother is being looked after.

All the staff at Waterlook Care Home are always absolutely excellent and professional. They have a nice demeanour and look after my mum to the best standards possible. I would not hesitate to recommend this care home to anyone and have done so on regular occasions. Thank you to all concerned.

The care provided for my mother is good. She is happy and all her needs are met. The staff are patient and communicate effectively with me if there are worries or important changes. There is a range of activities on offer to the residents. The most important thing for me is that I am free from worry about my mother's safety and welfare. The food provided is excellent - meals are varied and nutritious. Family (including dogs) are always made to feel welcome.
Her room is very pleasant and all the staff are very caring and attentive to her needs.

- Good - The service is performing well and meeting our expectations.
- Requires Improvement - The service isn't performing as well as it should and we have told the service how it must improve.
- Inadequate - The service is performing badly and we've taken action against the person or organisation that runs it.
- Not rated - we have not yet rated this area of the service, this is normally because the assessments we have carried out have been focused on other key questions.
