Pleased with the care of nursing, the home is kept nice and clean. Food is good and is always with each person in mind, for their needs. The staff are friendly and show kindness towards everyone. I have no concerns for my mother's wellbeing and am happy for her to remain here.

The staff are very friendly and caring. The nurses pay a lot of attention to what my Grandma needs, this is often a tea and cake trolley, and the care home is secure and has a friendly atmosphere.

I found Chalgrove to be excellent - a very happy atmosphere and happy staff. When visiting at any time during the day I always found my relative to be extremely well cared for, bodily scrupulously clean, as was her room and bedding. I could not recommend Chalgrove Home enough everything was first-class. In fact, if ever it was necessary for me to enter such an establishment this is the only place I would be happy with.

Mum has been in Chalgrove now for nearly eighteen months. She has dementia, cannot walk and needs help feeding. I have nothing but praise for the staff at Chalgrove. My mum is treated with dignity and respect and she is shown such kindness by everyone. She enjoys the food and entertainment. There are always plenty of activities, crafts and various musical entertainers. Mum’s behaviour can be challenging at times but she is always shown such care and compassion. I have no hesitation in recommending Chalgrove.

I have found the staff to be very professional and very friendly. They have been brilliant with my stepmother. The care home itself is very homely and clean which has helped with my stepmother settling in as well as he has. Also, the security to the home is excellent.

Review from Marilyn L (Daughter of Resident) published on 17 January 2020 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My mum entered Chalgrove in December 2012 from hospital. She had been diagnosed with vascular dementia and couldn't get out of bed. I thought at the time she was close to death and unlikely to walk again. A few weeks later I was surprised to find her sitting in the communal lounge after recovering in her room. Mum lived another seven years and was still able to walk, talk, smile, laugh and sing up until the final weeks of her life. This was due to the wonderful care she received at Chalgrove from the kind staff who loved her like she was a member of their own family. Many of the staff cared for Mum for the full seven years, so staff turnover was relatively low.

I would choose the excellent care at Chalgrove over more expensive homes every time. I want to thank the staff from the bottom of heart for giving me peace of mind that Mum was in the best place possible during her final years.

Reply from Carole Taylor, Manager at Chalgrove Care and Nursing Home

Thank you Marilyn, for you very kind words. Your mother was very much part of the family here at Chalgrove and is very dearly missed.

My wife has been a residnet for the last 6 months. She suffers from vascular dementia but has been treated with care and understadning by the staff of carers during the whole of that time. My wife is incontinent from time to time but her condition is treated cheerfully by staff at all incidents.

Mum came to Chalgrove due to safeguarding concerns raised by neighbours of her home environment. Mum has taken a while to settle in due to memory issues but the staff have been wonderful in making sure mum felt comfortable and welcome. She has gained weight, us always clean and tidy and warm and her wishes are always respected. She has made some close connections with carers and seems very content here.

My only recommendation would be for a bit more activities.

My mother has been in Chalgrove since August 2018. The staff and management have been helpful, supportive and very caring. Mum has been a difficult individual to deal with at times and has struggled to come to terms with her new surroundings. I am satisfied that Mum is receiving excellent care and I would not hesitate to recommend Chalgrove to family and friends.

My mother of 96 years was sent to Chalgrove Care and Nursing Home as she has Alzheimer's and went off her legs.

We cannot speak highly enough of the staff, who were not only very caring to her and interacted with her as best as they could, but they also took the time to speak to my wife and I about how she had been each day, this was without prompting, we didn't have to ask.

Thanks for all the support and helping us through a very emotional time in our lives.

Mum has lived at Chalgrove for just over 6 months now and couldn’t be happier. I’ve seen such a change in her as she has got to know the staff and routines (she likes routine!).

The staff here are caring, enabling and friendly, I’m so pleased I found a home that she’s happy in, she tells me often how lovely they all are and particularly that the ‘man who does the cooking’ is great (the chef) and he comes to talk to her about what she likes.

My mum has been a resident for two months now and I cannot fault the care she has been given. The staff are polite, friendly and nothing is too much for them. They understand mum's needs and everything is done to make mum comfortable and with no fuss. Mum feels safe here. Our family can now be relieved that our mum is in safe hands and happy that our dad can visit every day.

I have been very happy and comfortable here for the most part and very glad that I have been allowed to go out on my own for walks with my two sticks and to the local Inn in the Park, provided I have let the staff know what time I would return.

We have beautiful scenery here and especially during the summer months, it has been wonderful to be able to get down to the beach and even to paddle along the edge of the water. The only disadvantage for me is there are no shops I can get to without a very long walk.
