My dad was a vibrant, independent 90 year old until he broke his hip, underwent surgery and it was established that he could no longer live independently. Following his surgery his underlying dementia accelerated overnight and the difficult decision to seek nursing care was taken. I am very happy that we chose Chalgrove to look after Dad. He was comfortable, treated with respect and love and spent his last year being very well supported. All staff members have been incredibly kind and supportive to us as a family when they knew that we were struggling with his deterioration and I am comforted to know that he was looked after so well until the very end.

Excellent care from the manager and the staff. They made my dad's last days calm and peaceful. Very professional and nothing was too much for them to accommodate. I was able to visit at any time and always talk about specific needs for Dad.

The staff always very friendly and pleased to see you. I was advised that I could book myself in to have lunch with my Aunt which I did.

It was sunny that day and we ate outside. It was lovely and was nice to share that normal experience with my aunt.

My mum went to Chalgrove Care and Nursing Home following a stay in hospital. We were unable to visit due to the pandemic but were in contact with the home. When we were able to start visiting, the staff were extremely welcoming and over the past year have been caring and supportive. The care they showed to my mum was exceptional and were with her even in her last moments. Thank you to all the hardworking staff at Chalgrove.

My mother has been at Edwardian House since June 2022 and settled in very well. She is very happy with the nursing and assistant staff there who are all very friendly and take very good care of her. The nursing staff have been excellent and helped with her medical treatment to get the right balance of medications for her various ailments. I know that my mother is in very safe and capable hands and the nursing staff keep me updated on any developments. A big thank you from me to all the staff at Edwardian for their excellent work and care.

My late aunt was a resident at Chalgrove Care and Nursing Home for about a year. My brother and I were very comfortable with the way staff responded to us as well as the kind, professional care our late aunt received at Chalgrove. A good test for us was the quality of the food served was restaurant standard.

Overall Experience
My wife has been at Chalgrove Care and Nursing Home for the last eighteen months, during that time I have found the staff, nurses and careers to be extremely sympathetic and professional in their treatment of my wife. I base this judgement on the fact that I go into the home every day, seven days a week to feed her lunch as she is now unable to feed herself. I would hasten to add that I do this purely from choice and hopefully allowing a member of staff to help another resident.

In conclusion, I would say that my experience during what is obviously a very difficult time has been one of relief knowing that she is in safe hands.

The care home is truly incredible. Our father was with Chalgrove Care and Nursing Home for six months. They were the last six months of his life. The care workers he classed as his friends, they made him laugh and they cared for him dearly. He was truly in safe hands. Every decision they ever made was always the best for our dad. We will always be eternally grateful.

The staff at Chalgrove Care and Nursing Home have been exceptional. The care and kindness that has been shown to my father over the last seven months have been wonderful but, most importantly, the professional nursing care that he received in his last days was exemplary. I always felt he was in safe hands and for that, I will be eternally grateful.

Thank you to all staff at Chalgrove Care and Nursing Home for the two weeks respite care they gave to my husband. They were always kind, efficient and sensitive to his needs. So much so that he has consented to return in the future so that I can visit a sick relative. Well done.

Chalgrove Care and Nursing Home was home to my mother for two years. In this time she was looked after extremely well with dignity and friendliness and caring staff who met all her daily needs to a high standard. We, the family, were also treated with a smile and a chat and offered drinks on every visit from all staff. My mother was bedridden and had dementia but enjoyed the interaction with all the staff who we can not praise and thank for their wonderful care until her death on 22/01/2023.

Overall, I found the staff to be friendly and efficient. The main meals were, in my opinion, too small. Breakfast was sometimes a bit cold. The knives I found to be almost blunt and I struggled to cut through toast and bacon.

A big thank you to all the staff in Edwardian House who looked after our 104-year-old mum with such kindness in her final weeks, it was much appreciated and a relief for those of us who live far afield to know she was in safe hands. Can we say an especial thanks to a young male events organiser for being so obliging, running up and down stairs with the phone and a very special thanks to the head nurse for being kind and diplomatic, negotiating family politics and issues, we felt listened to and it meant a lot.

I sent an email to the manager which stated we would like to put on record our thanks for everything you and your staff did for Mum, she was very happy with her care and the attentiveness of your staff. On the various visits and many phone calls we made to enquire on Mum’s welfare, we found the staff to be extremely helpful, caring, knowledgeable about Mum’s condition. We left some sweets, biscuits and a thank you card with our honest opinions. Happy to recommend you.
