Mum has stayed in several Care Homes in this area for short periods but she couldn't get on with any of them. Bay Tree has been totally different. She settled almost instantly. She likes the staff (and my mum has very high standards) and the warm, caring and considerate way they treat her. The staff
are constantly patient. She likes her light and spacious room and how the en-suite is always kept immaculately clean. She enjoys the tasty food and how the staff are more than willing to accommodate her passion for fresh fruit. When the weather is good a member of staff takes her around the garden - something she loves, even though she can see little. Mum has now accepted that this is the place for her to live long-term - somewhere where she feels safe and secure and cared for. The place is a God-send for her.

My mother has lived at Bay Tree Court Care Centre since January 2015 on the residential floor. For her age (90 on admission) she was still fairly active and in sound mind. She was able to join in many of the activities on offer.
Over the last few months she has become more frail and often gets muddled
and confused. Throughout mums stay she has received excellent care which is delivered by the staff with patience and calmness. The whole atmosphere of the home is relaxed and friendly. A great effort was made to make Christmas a special event when I joined mum for Christmas lunch. The food is of excellent quality and service very professional. Thank you to all staff.

My mother has been happy at Bay Tree Court unfortunately after a few months of arriving her health deteriorated and she not been so involved with activities and outings. The staff are kind, patient and caring. My sister and I recently attended a reception to meet the new manager and came away having
no idea of who she was as no introduction was made! I think the rooms are rather dull and could do with some fresh decoration.

  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.723 for Bay Tree Court Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (133 Excellents x 5) + (39 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 177 Ratings = 4.723
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bay Tree Court Residential Care Home is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 59 registered maximum number of service users is 11.8, which has been reached with 15 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Fiona Gillon

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2024

Fiona has been Bay Tree Court Home Manager in Prestbury, since March 2024.

In August 2021 Fiona was appointed as the Home Manager of Royal Court Care Home, having been Deputy Manager since 2019.

After Fiona left school she started working in an office, it was her older sister who worked in a care home who encouraged her to change jobs; Fiona found she really enjoyed it and never looked back. After her first couple of roles, Fiona gained a decade of experience at a local care home working her way up to be a Senior Carer. During this time she completed her NVQ level 3 and gained a Diploma in Health & Social Care.

Fiona was promoted to the position of Home trainer, which included training 70 to 80 staff in a wide range of skills as well as being an NVQ assessor and organising student nurse placements. However, this role meant she had a lot less time with the residents so when Fiona saw a Senior Carer role at Royal Court she took the opportunity to change. She became Team Leader after a year or so, became Deputy Manager in 2019 and Home Manager in the summer of 2021.

“It may not appear a glamorous job but that’s nothing… it’s how you’ve made a difference in someone’s day, made someone smile and go home having achieved something.”
