From the first moment I was greeted when I walked through the door I knew Brockworth house was the perfect place to look after Mum. The staff were all knowledgable about caring for more complex residents and I saw only compassion and kindness from them. The rooms are having a refurb and it's clear the
housekeeping team work to a high standard!

I have been visiting my nan here for over a year- new company have recently taken over and can instantly see improvements all round. My nan has dementia and the level of commitment and care all the team show is heartwarming. Decor and garden were looking like they lacked some attention, but over the
last month I've seen the team working hard to make it the beautiful home it is. Management team have a hands on approach, housekeeping is second to none, food is home cooked and superb. I cannot recommend the home enough. Nan is happier here than she was at home thanks to Brockworth house.

My sister was in Brockworth House for nearly 3 years. She soon settled. She was well looked after by all the staff, carers, nursing staff and the residents participated in lots of activities, music, activities, and exercise. Musical acts performed for the residents & relatives. The residents were treated
with respect & dignity.

My elderly father suffered with Parkinson's disease and dementia. He received the best care here, the staff were wonderful with him, so very patient and caring, taking care of all Dads needs, both physical and mental. He took part in music therapy each week which he enjoyed and benefitted from. At Christmas,
they played carols from Kings College Choir which I know he loved. Unfortunately, Dad passed away a couple of days before Christmas but he was still very well looked after in those last few days and immediately after. I was made to feel very welcome too no matter when I visited. As Dad was in his last few hours of life, the staff offered me food and drink and hugs. I can't thank them enough for all they did for Dad and for me. Communication was first rate, the care and love Dad received was excellent and I'm so very pleased that Dad spent his last few months in such a lovely environment with such wonderful people.
Reply from Lyndsey Dixon, Home Manager at Brockworth House Care CentreThank you for this lovely and kind review. It was a privilege to care for your Father, and we too are pleased that he chose Brockworth House to call his final home.

In all that time he has received such good care from all staff at Brockworth, being treated with kindness, care and dignity with nothing being too much trouble. Excellent meals are served, cooked to a high standard. It is a happy
friendly home, with kind approachable staff, always with smiles.
I would not hesitate to recommend Brockworth House to anyone seeking dementia care for their loved one.

Just spent a happy few hours at Brockworth Nursing Home with my husband and family celebrating his 75th Birthday. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who made sure we had a special time. They were kind and attentive. We even had the manager play some table tennis with the grandchildren. Again,
thank you, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Our mother recently moved to Brockworth House. After an initial unsettled period, she is now very happy and settled. The home is well staffed and all the staff from the laundry personnel to the manager, are welcoming and approachable. Staff attitude is person-centred and without exception they are kind
and nothing seems to be too much trouble. The home is spacious and secure and the residents are free to wander and sit in one of a number of sitting rooms. There are a wide variety of activities for residents and visitors can join in should they wish. Personal rooms and spaces are kept clean and tidy and use of the enclosed garden is encouraged. We, as a family, are extremely pleased that Mum is in such a caring environment.

My mother went into the care home in August 2021, after a fall at her home, suffering with early stages of dementia. We were pleased she had a place here as my father was in the care home in 2018 with dementia and the care he received was excellent. My mother was welcomed with open arms. All the staff
have got to know us as a family, always polite and informative when questions asked. All staff went that extra mile to help Mum, nothing was too much trouble. She loved the activities and found comfort in the church services. Whenever we visited the home, it was clean and welcoming. During Covid, the extra pressure this brought allowed regular phone calls to Mum. The room was clean and tidy with adequate solid furniture. They provide a good laundry service, with clothing washed and cleaned on the premises, all neatly ironed. Mother passed away in March 2022, treated with respect and dignity at all times. She loved all the carers and staff, they gave her a safe, comforting environment.
Reply from Jo Goode, Home Manager at Brockworth House Care CentreThank you so much for your kind words. Myself and the team here at Brockworth are so grateful that you entrusted the care of Mum into our hands. She was a very loved member of our family here at Brockworth and is very much missed, however she has left us all with some wonderful memories. We send you and your wonderful family our love; you are in our prayers.

My husband went to Brockworth Hosue at the end of February 2021 suffering from Parkinson's and Lewy Body Dementia. The rooms are clean, large and comfortable. The food is wonderful, there are plenty of activities and a beautiful garden. As for the staff, they are exemplary, from the catering staff,
housekeeping, carers, nurses and administration. All are friendly, welcoming, caring, supportive and it's clear they love their residents and would do anything for them. Whatever challenged arise, they are quick to act upon them and go out of their way to do whatever is required to protect them. I'm just sad my husband passed away so quickly and I didn't get to know them better.

My husband was a resident at Brockworth House for 18 months until he passed away on 19th August 2020 and in that time I can honestly say he received 5 star care. All the staff, nurses, sisters and carers are absolutely excellent. The care my husband and all the other residents receive is truly fantastic.
We will never forget the kind support we received and end of life care my husband had, all the help everyone gave us and kindness from everyone at Brockworth House. Thank you so much to all the staff.

Mum was looked after very well and it felt like home very quickly. She loved the activities, especially the music, the pianist and dancing, and enjoyed pet visits. The staff were so patient and kind, and became her friends. She enjoyed the large garden, visiting the chickens and joining in with barbecues.
Family and friends were always made very welcome. Mum had a lovely bright sunny room overlooking the garden, and was treated with dignity and respect at all times.

My mum has been in Brockworth House for nearly two years now. She has advanced vascular dementia and could no longer cope at home. Getting her a place in Brockworth House was such a relief. We no longer had to worry about mum, we knew that she was surrounded by caring people and was safe and secure.
Brockworth House is not a "warehouse " where old people are sent to be forgotten, it is a community which respects its residents and tries to give them a stimulating and interesting life. The way that the home has coped over the coronavirus issue has been an inspiration to my sister and I, as we (of course) have been unable to visit her for the last few months.

I honestly couldn’t have found a better dementia nursing care home for my husband. Brockworth House is full of wonderful, thoughtful and caring people that make a difference every single day. During lockdown they have made sure that loved ones have stayed well informed with regular updates and photos.
My husband was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at the young age of 53. After caring for him at home he finally attended the care home at the age of 59. It was hard to find somewhere that would suit his needs as a younger dementia sufferer. From the moment I walked into Brockworth House. There was such a friendly welcoming feel to the place, I knew I could trust them with my precious husband. I cannot thank them enough for the care and support they continue to provide for not only my husband but for me too.

Current Review Score: 9.0 (9.012)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (9.012) out of 10 for Brockworth House Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.635 for Brockworth House Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (62 Excellents x 5) + (33 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 96 Ratings = 4.635
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.377 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brockworth House Care Centre is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.65
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 55 registered maximum number of service users is 11. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 11 = 0.727
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I joined the team nearly four and a half years ago, just before the first year of COVID. It was certainly an unusual and challenging time to start a new role, but it also made me appreciate the importance of connection and community even more.
Before that, I spent many years working in retail, which taught me a lot about people, patience, and teamwork. I also took some time away from work to raise my son — a chapter of my life that I’ll always treasure. Coming back into the workplace, especially into a role where I can make a difference each day, has been incredibly rewarding.
