You occasionally hear of stories in the press where care home staff clearly couldn't care less about their residents. Well at Brockworth House it is the exact opposite, the staff couldn't care MORE! They are simply wonderful, and I know my dear father was incredibly well looked after in the two years he was there. During that time I visited him several times a week and saw each time how the care staff give personalised care to a consistently high standard. The home is also always clean, the food appetising and varied, a wonderful variety of activities are organised, the chaplaincy service is excellent, management is very approachable and helpful and all staff are always welcoming and friendly. It can be a very difficult decision to move a loved one into care, but I would highly recommend Brockworth House.

Thank you for the lovely review you have written about your father’s care at Brockworth House. Your comments about the personalised care, chaplaincy service, cleanliness of the home, activities programme and welcoming friendly staff will, I know, be valued by the entire team. Thank you once again.

My sister was in Brockworth House Care Centre for several years. The general and ongoing care was always kind and patient. The home kept me informed as to her care and conditions as I was her nearest relative in this country. (Her husband had a mental condition and did not visit and the son with primary responsibility lives in Zurich.) I was not able to visit as often as I would like as I am in my 70's and live in Dorset. I tried to come every month and unannounced and always found her well cared for and with patience. The home was bright and clean.

I am so pleased to hear that you always found your sister well cared for with patience and kindness at Brockworth House. It is difficult to entrust the care of your loved one to someone else and it is lovely you managed to visit so regularly even though you live in Dorset.

When I visited my friend she always looked clean and tidy and in a relaxed state. The room was bright and cheerful. The staff members always greeted both myself and my friend with a smile. The popped into the room to check on my friend were always seeing if there was anything else they could do. The staff always made time to have a nice chat with us both. My impressions were of a very caring staff.

I was very impressed with the care and professionalism displayed at the care centre for my mother who was initially placed for respite care. She sadly died in the home but the care she received was beyond all expectations. I would like to thank all the staff for their kindness, thoughtfulness and compassion in dealing with someone who could be difficult at times. I have recommended you to a friend of mine and hopefully, she will book a visit.

My granddad was admitted to Brockworth House in June 2016, with Vascular Dementia and Alzheimer's.
The care he received was second to none, he was very happy during his time at the home. When his health declined, the end of life care was sensitive, respectful and the whole family felt supported.

I would have no hesitation recommending this well-managed home to friends and family requiring Dementia care.

Mum was brought to Brockworth House having had a long stay in Hospital. Brockworth House was close to us and central for easy transportation be it by local buses or own transport with a lovely easy access car park, which helps with any worries or stresses obviously having a parent/family member in a new environment. As time went on we as a family realised that mum would be there for the rest of her life which was so sadly taken very recently.

I CANNOT COMMEND Brockworth House ENOUGH. The nursing care from the qualified nurses, the wonderful care and support from the Healthcare Workers, the varied menu each day from the chef and kitchen staff and personal service from the kitchen staff providing us with food and refreshment was wonderful and last but not least the amazing support from all Management team and Admin was phenomenal. I can honestly say the care and attention my wonderful, beautiful mum had including her 'end of life' care was very special. Thank you.

My grandmother was admitted to Brockworth and I can't believe how she has improved mentally and physically.
The nurses and carers are wonderful. They are happy and so kind and caring.
My grandmother was immobile when she arrived but after 2 weeks of gentle prompting and reassurance, she is now walking. She is putting on weight as well, which is a relief.
Brockworth House is exceptional.
I'm so relieved and comforted by the fact that my nana is there.

Thank you.

Supportive and helpful. Showing concern and understanding. I could not praise them enough or thank them enough. Care given was beyond m,y expectations and certainly made my husband's stay as happy as it could be. I particularly admired their patience and tolerance with a particular resident who was not always grateful for the care he received.

I spend 4 weeks respite at Brockworth House. The staff were wonderful, caring, kind, efficient and nothing was too much trouble. I was made comfortable as soon as I arrived. The nurses and carers were so reassuring and the atmosphere was cheerful. I felt so relaxed and safe at Brockworth House, I did not want to leave. I would not hesitate to go back and I certainly will be recommending the home to everyone.

Review from Thomas W (Brother of Resident) published on 22 December 2016 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

I have been very impressed with Brockworth over the past year and in particular with the care and understanding individual staff members appear to bring to their work. During this time there has been a change of senior management but with no apparent diminution in the quality of care being provided. I have awarded a ‘good’ to ‘Management’ below since the recently appointed manager is finding her feet in a new environment, but having discussed various issues with her I would judge she and her team have all the qualities to warrant an ‘excellent’ in due course. I have awarded a ‘good’ to ‘Security’ since I have no feeling as to what excellent security would look like.

Since Brockworth is a Methodist not-for-profit organisation I expected it to have a strong ethical component to its functioning; this is what comes over, not in any overtly obvious fashion but rather in the strong sense of patient caring and commitment which pervades the whole institution.

Brockworth House Care Home has greatly impressed me as to how well run the home is. The staff are all friendly, supportive and always willing to help. The home has a warm and welcoming feel to it. The carers are always watching to see if anyone needs help and my brother always has a smile for them. The food is excellent and again the chef is so nice. If need be, I would not hesitate in recommending Brockworth House to anyone.

Carers and nurses at Brockworth House always show compassion and kindness. We are always welcomed with a smile and friendliness. Carers are always willing to help out and importantly for us help our children visit their grandpa, this can be a challenge for young children but the carers and nurses make this feel supported and safe. We leave with an assurance that Grandpa is well looked after and in the right place.

My Dad is at Brockworth. I was impressed with the fact I could visit at any time. Dad was sitting in a comfortable chair during the visit. The facilities appeared very clean, he had his own room which was good. It was pleasing to see that the TV wasn't on as a matter of course.

I like to feel that Dad is in a safe and caring environment at Brockworth. I spoke at length with the manager and she explained everything in a clear and knowledgeable way. I like the ethos of the home.

Obviously, it is sad for me to see Dad as he is now having known him as an intelligent and physically strong man, but that is the nature of the illness. I think as Dad is where he is is the best place he could be.

My mother moved to this dementia care nursing home after 4 very happy years in a residential home. Staff did everything they could to ensure the move was smooth and to settle mum and the whole family in. The home has gone from strength to strength. Staff are all so welcoming and care not just for the resident but for their whole family. Food is excellent, looks and tastes delicious, and all residents are able to take part in a variety of activities. Care staff are always friendly and patient and, under a superb management team are also, at last, able to relax and enjoy being with residents (and families) rather than being purely task-focussed.

Having visited my dear friend today for the first time at your care home, how well impressed I was by the security and the greeting by the staff. Friendly, helpful, smiling, no odour to put me off, it made me think I was visiting a four star hotel. The decor was clean and very relaxing , being with my friend when his lunch arrives it looked so good and smelt yummy, made my tummy rumble. Catering staff well done. I have been to a few care homes over many years Brockworth House gets top marks from me. Well done keep standards up.

I joined the team nearly four and a half years ago, just before the first year of COVID. It was certainly an unusual and challenging time to start a new role, but it also made me appreciate the importance of connection and community even more.

Before that, I spent many years working in retail, which taught me a lot about people, patience, and teamwork. I also took some time away from work to raise my son — a chapter of my life that I’ll always treasure. Coming back into the workplace, especially into a role where I can make a difference each day, has been incredibly rewarding.
