My mum has been at Mill House for 5 years, and she has always been very happy. The carers treat her with such dignity and they work so hard.

My mum has been in Mill House for nearly 5 years and I can say that I spend a lot of time there. The carers are amazing they treat my mum with such dignity and care and, if even when they are really busy they will help if they are able to when asked.

I came to Mill House to visit a friend. I didn't know what to expect so it was with some trepidation. I didn't need to have worried, the moment I walked in I felt the friendly, warm atmosphere. The decor was bright with lovely colour and materials. The love and commitment of all the staff was amazing.
I left feeling happy and that I'd had a lovely visit.

My mother stayed at Mill House for two weeks respite, having had a fall earlier in the year. She was very reluctant to go but having agreed, was welcomed so warmly and personally, that her anxieties were allayed; along with a card, she was also provided with her favourite chocolate. The food was really
excellent and choices varied. Her room was spacious with a lovely outlook over fields. The staff, although very busy, were attentive and kind, so very important. She is relatively independent and quite forthright, the staff were respectful of her independence but responsive to her needs as they arose. Whilst mum couldn't wait to get back to independent living again, in her own home, the two weeks did her the world of good in that she ate well and had plenty of stimulation, and it shows. At some level, this has restored her and I am so thankful to all the staff at Mill House.
Reply from Nicole Howarth, on behalf of the team at Mill HouseThank you for taking the time to leave us such a fantastic review! We're delighted to hear that your mother felt warmly welcomed at Mill House and that our team were able to ease her anxieties during her stay. It's wonderful to know she enjoyed the food, her room, and the peaceful outlook. We're also pleased that the respite stay gave her the chance to rest, eat well, and regain some energy before returning home. Your wonderful comments have been passed on to the team, who will be delighted to hear your feedback.

Mum came in yesterday - the welcome was amazing. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The room is beautiful and the food is plentiful and really really good. I asked if Mum's hair could be washed as I hadn't been for 3 weeks while she was in hospital. When I came in today it had been done and I was
impressed. I left the home feeling really good about leaving Mum there.

My father came to Mill House for respite after a spell in hospital. We were immediately impressed by the care and support from the staff who helped him to settle in after a difficult time. Staff are always available to answer any questions in a caring and professional manner and make us feel welcome
as visitors. My fathers respite stay has been so successful that it is to become a permanent move. We are all happy that we chose Mill House.

Although only a week's stay for respite, my experience from the moment of arrival was excellent. I received a warm welcome from the management and staff who were fully briefed about my requirements. All staff went out of their way to help me and the whole experience was caring, efficient and enjoyable.
The environment and atmosphere throughout was happy, and the food was excellent with healthy variety and interest. I also enjoyed some other activities included in my stay and arrangements for seeing visitors were excellent. Altogether a very pleasant time.

It is always such a joy to visit my Mum at Mill House. I am always greeted so warmly and a beautiful, peaceful, friendly and happy atmosphere pervades the entire Home. My Mum has lived here for almost 5 years and she has been cared for so well in every way imaginable. I always find her peaceful, comfortable
and content usually having enjoyed one of the super activities that will have taken place during the morning. I really cannot find the words to express my gratitude to all the staff who work so consistently very, very hard for the benefit of all those they care for. Thank you all so very much.

My mother has been a long term resident at Mill House due to her suffering from dementia. Since a fall causing a broken hip in November 2021, and a continued deterioration in her cognition her needs are now complex. I feel all the staff, whatever their role work hard to meet her needs and make her feel
safe and content. Our concerns as relatives are also understood and questions are answered in both a friendly and professional way.

My wife has been in Millhouse for eleven months. She had suffered a stroke which left her with multiple needs. The support and care she has received has been outstanding. The nursing staff and carers have been very professional, whilst showing tenderness and care when carrying out their duties. We went
to great lengths to choose a nursing home that would provide the best care that my wife needed. Also, the facilities that would provide the support for the family and the guidance that we needed. Needless to say, we have not been disappointed.

My wife has been a resident at Mill House since December 2022. She has Alzheimer’s which has progressed to a severe level, requiring a high level of support to meet all basic needs. The staff here are friendly and professional and work extremely hard to ensure she is safe and content. Communication
is good and I am well-informed about her health and well-being. Facilities are good and a range of activities are provided to keep residents stimulated.

My mum has been a resident of Mill House for almost a year; she is doing so well under the care and companionship of Mill House residents and staff. Life now is probably better for Mum than it has been for a few years, with on-tap entertainment, great food, a hairdresser etc, and some wonderful hairy
visitors. It's always a pleasure for me to visit too, and know she is safe and sound.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.529)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.529) out of 10 for Mill House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.754 for Mill House is calculated as follows: ( (103 Excellents x 5) + (22 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 130 Ratings = 4.754
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Mill House is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 45 registered maximum number of service users is 9, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
