My late husband was a resident at Mill House for five months, requiring full nursing care. The staff were very friendly, attentive and helpful at all times, despite him not being the easiest person to deal with. It is very difficult for someone who has held down an important job and always been independent
to accept that they are now very ill and cannot do anything without help.
They constantly encouraged him and nothing was too much trouble. One of our consultants told us that he was in the best place and he was right.
The nursing care was first class and he was constantly monitored throughout the night which gave me peace of mind.
When the end came it was dignified and peaceful and one cannot ask for more than that.
I am extremely grateful for their care and understanding.

My first ever experience concerning a care home. My elderly sister had been a resident for fifteen months and she has always been treated with the utmost respect and has been very satisfied with her stay. Many activities are available daily for residents if they wish to participate. From a visitors
point of view, I would just say that there is not always a member of staff to consult regarding my sister.

When there was an incident at the care home, I was very impressed with the level of communication from the manager of the care house, along with the whistle blowing and safeguarding procedures in place.
It was sad an incident had occurred, but swift action was taken and as a result, as a family, we
still have great confidence in the care our mother receives. Thank you and well done.

Mill House Care Home with Nursing provided end of life care for my father. In the short time he stayed at the home, he was happy with the staff. The head nurse was an outstanding professional and the whole team were dedicated and caring towards my father. I can only say that 'TEAM' Mill House Care Home
with Nursing provided an outstanding level of care and above all compassion. I must also commend the manager for her outstanding professionalism throughout the whole process.

My 91 year old mother-in-law went to Mill House Care Home to convalesce after her hip replacement. Not only was this nursing home a real home for her at a difficult time it was friendly, efficient, super clean and the food was five star.
Every member of staff went out of their way to make sure mother
felt cared for and welcome.
Just as mother was almost ready to go she developed pneumonia and sepsis. It was thanks to the special reaction of the staff that her life was saved. All my family are extremely grateful.

My mother and father were advised by myself ad two sisters as we thought the extra care was needed.
Sadly, my mum died last Saturday and the dignity, help and advice were first class from all the staff we spoke to. When the funeral directors took mum away, all staff including the chef lined the hallway,
it was very moving.
My father is obviously suffering because of the loss but again the staff couldn't be more helpful.

My aunt a very private and independent lady of 93 years, came into Mill House Care Home last November following hospitalisation after a stroke. We surrounded her with familiar objects and pictures from her house which contributed to her settling in well. Initially, she spent time in her wheelchair and
took part in the numerous activities of residents even making Christmas decorations last year. Latterly she had to have full-time nursing care which was delivered with love and compassion. She thought the home really looked after her and enjoyed the food. I would highly recommend Mill House Care Home for the quality fo care they gave my aunt in her last year of life.

After two weeks, Mum died, on 1st December, and everything was done for her with care, dignity and respect ... we couldn't have asked for a better home.

From the onset, the manager was reassuring, empathetic and quickly tuned into my dad's needs. Having been discharged from hospital to an appalling home, I needed to get dad to a place of safety and care. The manager turned it all around and with the care and attention of all those involved with dad's
care, he is leaving 1 stone heavier, colour in his cheeks and physically much more able.

My father was moved to Mill House from hospital on an end of life plan. He was treated with the utmost care and respect. His nursing was fantastic - when my son and I visited his nurse was feeding dad a full breakfast! My son (who is a doctor) said the home was "lovely - didn't smell of old people and
his room and bed was bang on".
Dad died on the 9th of September - after about 6 weeks in Mill House - everyone and everything was done with care, dignity, respect and I cannot thank all of you enough. Thanks.

My mother went into Mill House Care Home with Nursing in June 2016 aged 95. We visited many care homes and looked at CQC reports before we chose this one. It was a hugely emotive time knowing my mother would probably never come home again. As soon as we stepped into Mill House Care Home unannounced,
we were welcomed, shown around the home and the efficient new manager listened and was sympathetic to our circumstances. When admitted, the room for Mum was made to feel like home with her furniture etc. The registered nurses and carers were gentle and caring not only to Mum but to all of the family. When leaving the home after visiting and the doors closed, I knew we could trust the staff to look after her and they did right to the end.

I can only truly say that Mill House met and exceeded every possible expectation. All the ladies and all the staff even before he arrived, were so kind and helpful. Even when his forthcoming respite had to quickly be changed to "end of life" you were all so kind in facilitating the move, taking to hospital
for his transfer and finally greeting him rather late one evening. From then on he was at peace in great part due to the outstanding care and love he received. For my part you made it possible to be with him day and night with such kindness and sympathy and love. I shall be ever indebted to you all for the quality of those final days.

The kindness and sympathy of the staff at Mill House helped to ease my pain over my mothers last illness. Although she was very confused and agitated, staff were always gentle and patient and gave her excellent care - even though she was sometimes resistant.
Levels of cleanliness were high and food
well prepared.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.321)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.321) out of 10 for Mill House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.843 for Mill House is calculated as follows: ( (71 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 83 Ratings = 4.843
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.478 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Mill House is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 45 registered maximum number of service users is 9. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 9 = 0.778
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
