Northleach Court Care Home offers a high standard of very comfortable 'home from home' accommodation and great care for up to 40 elderly residents.

Northleach Court specialises in nursing and residential care, whilst offering the highest levels of quality support for all forms of dementia and Alzheimer's. Services are provided by a close-knit team of nurses and highly qualified care professionals in a comfortable, welcoming and friendly environment, making it the ideal choice for those looking for care homes in Gloucestershire.

Northleach Court is a stunning Grade II listed building located on the high street of Northleach; a beautiful Cotswold town tucked away amidst picturesque rolling hills within easy access to the A40. The home is surrounded by buildings of significant architectural interest most built out of lovely Cotswold stone making it a lovely place to visit and relax.

The nursing home in Gloucestershire is family-owned and run and has a nurse on duty 24*7. It can also accommodate those families currently looking for residential care (rather than nursing) in Gloucestershire, safe in the knowledge that residents don’t need to move home in the future if their needs become more complex.

Northleach Court also offers privately funded dementia care and the team have a deep understanding of the challenges that come with living with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. They are aware of the effects it can have on both residents and their families, and each of the friendly and experienced dementia care team works closely alongside residents and their families to provide help and support.

For those who need short-term support, respite services are available whether it’s emergency respite care for the elderly, overnight respite, weekend respite care or more long-term respite.

Northleach Care Home had my mum as a resident from July 2019 until December 2020. Although I couldn't visit her during the lockdown, the care assistants used Facebook to keep us inform of all the shenanigans that they got up to.
It is a lovely place and Mum was settled there very quickly.
The staff
are wonderful.

My father-in-law spent the last 6 months of his life at this wonderful place. I cannot tell you how compassionate and caring each and every member of staff were during the last 4 days of his life. They all treated my father-in-law like he was one of their own and we were so blessed to be able to be
by his side at the end. A massive thank you to the home manager and all her wonderful team!

My father has been in the home for 4 months and with a move from a previous home and the current Covid challenges, I was concerned he would struggle to settle. To the contrary, I have been delighted with the work by the Home Manager and her very professional team to accommodate my father in what has
been a painless and seamless transition. There appears to be little turnover of staff, a solid management structure and the residents are lovingly cared for and always look happy and treated with respect and dignity. A big thank you to all for their outstanding work at Northleach Court.
Reply from Geoff Butcher, Director at Northleach Court Care HomeThank you so much for your very kind words. They mean an awful lot to us, especially given that they come from someone with such deep experience and knowledge of Care Homes.

I will never be able to thank this care home enough! My dad should be no longer with me but after being discharged from hospital with end of life in place and me being unable to see him due to lockdown, the care home showed great strength, encouragement (for Dad and me) and care. They treat him as a
member of their own family and he survived and is still getting the best care ever.
I would rate every section higher than excellent.

My mum has been here for one year now and it has comforted me after handing over the care from myself to the wonderful staff here with the knowledge that she is safe and well cared for.
Mum can be difficult and very upset but has settled well and is happy, laughs often and has all she needs. Nothing
is too much trouble - lots of cuddles, fun and welcoming staff. So many activities, residents have plenty to keep them occupied and smiling, birthday parties and all occasions are celebrated to the full.
I can't thank you all enough - especially with the present Covid-19 situation - setting up video calling facilities to enable me to chat is helping and knowing you are all going over and beyond to keep everyone safe.

My father went to Northleach Court in early January and remained there until he passed away at the end of March. From the moment my sister and took him, we just knew he would be cared for. Due to illness, we didn't know how he felt in himself having left home. It was such a relief to see him gradually
become happy with his surroundings, and physically begin to improve. The staff are amazing, and always made us welcome and we always enjoyed being around the other residents as the atmosphere was so lovely. I often think of the staff and residents at what is a very difficult time. Personally, I can't thank them enough for their support over the past three months. Thank you.

My uncle has been here a year this month and in that time I am pleased to see a huge change in furniture, fittings, standards in care and staffing. There is evidence of much better leadership and investment. I am extremely happy with my uncle's care. My uncle is always very happy and loves living here.
Thank you.

My 91-year-old dad moved into Northleach Court in early August and has settled in really well. It's always a tough decision to move to a care home but we and he have no regrets at all with choosing Northleach Court. The level of care is of a high standard, he's eating well and there are plenty of meals
and regular snacks and drinks, which are ideal as his appetite was waning and he was losing weight.
One thing I really want to call out though are the staff at the home. Every single one is friendly and patient, they greet the residents by name and settle those that get a little confused or upset - I can't fault them, lovely people.

I came at the end of June after release from hospital with a broken ankle. My mental and physical capacity is very good so my treatment has been wonderful. The care for me and others is very special. The nurses and staff do all they can. Their loyalty to others that can't help themselves is outstanding.
I have been in a quiet room with all the comforts I can be given. Thank you all.

My father is back at Northleach Court after a long stay in hospital. The care and attention he receives have so far been excellent. We are, as a family, grateful for staff who have offered us excellent support and ensured my father receives excellent care and attention. This has taken a lot of pressure
off the family knowing that he is in good hands. Northleach Court is at last being upgraded by the new owners and my father has one of the new rooms which makes his stay even more comfortable. Thank you to all the staff and team at Northleach Court.

Lack of staff seems to be a problem. Residents are not toileted or mobilised enough, although this has been discussed. Personal hygiene is poor, often hands dirty and hair washing and bathing is not often enough.
Although the majority of staff are very caring and nice, there is a lot of training that
would be beneficial.
Reply from Geoff Butcher, Director at Northleach Court Care Homethank you for your review the contents of which we take very seriously.
We bought Northleach Court from Blanchworth around the time your review relates to and we are very much aware of the poor performance of the previous owner.
As I hope you have already seen, we are very committed to making many fundamental changes in all areas including management, improving staffing, changing standards, providing far more training and carrying out a complete refurbishment of the building which has already started. Within all of this, we have a detailed focus on the hour by hour and day to day care of our residents. Whilst Rome was not built in a day, I believe that in a short period of time you will see that the majority of your concerns have been addressed.
In the meantime, please bring all and any of your concerns directly either to the manager or myself as the owner and responsible person.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.779)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.779) out of 10 for Northleach Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 21 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.779 for Northleach Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (196 Excellents x 5) + (42 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 244 Ratings = 4.779
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Northleach Court Care Home is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
