Services are provided by a close-knit team of nurses and highly qualified care professionals in a comfortable, welcoming and friendly environment, making it the ideal choice for those looking for care homes in Gloucestershire.

Northleach Court is a stunning Grade II listed building located on the high street of Northleach; a beautiful Cotswold town tucked away amidst picturesque rolling hills within easy access to the A40. The home is surrounded by buildings of significant architectural interest most built out of lovely Cotswold stone making it a lovely place to visit and relax.

It can also accommodate those families currently looking for residential care (rather than nursing) in Gloucestershire, safe in the knowledge that residents don’t need to move home in the future if their needs become more complex.

Northleach Court also offers privately funded dementia care and the team have a deep understanding of the challenges that come with living with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. They are aware of the effects it can have on both residents and their families, and each of the friendly and experienced dementia care team works closely alongside residents and their families to provide help and support.

For those who need short-term support, respite services are available whether it’s emergency respite care for the elderly, overnight respite, weekend respite care or more long-term respite.

A very friendly, comfortable and caring Home. The staff all have hearts of gold! My brother in law is very happy and seems to be getting younger each month. He is 96.
We are impressed with the range and variety of activities, and we know George appreciates his trips into Northleach.
Visitors are
warmly welcomed, and the Home always provides a cup of tea and biscuits, which we appreciate.
Reply from Geoff Butcher, Director at Northleach Court Care Homethanks for such a lovely review and its great to hear that your relative appears to be getting younger. Many people see moving into a care home as the end of the road but in so many many cases, its the start of a new chapter where with great food , drink and care together with the strength of the care home community, residents have a very much improved quality of life - its a pure delight to hear that your brother-in-law and family are so happy - again many thanks

My sister and I chose Northleach Court as a place for our Mum to live as we immediately felt the team's warmth and care at our very first visit. All of the residents seemed so happy and the way the carers interacted with them was heart-warming. When we moved Mum in we weren't disappointed. In fact,
they exceeded our expectations in every way. The kindness, positivity and compassion of every member of the team towards my Mum, my sister and I was incredible, and the end of life care that they gave to Mum was outstanding. It was so reassuring for us to know that her comfort and dignity were their priority. We will always be grateful we chose Northleach Court for Mum - it is a very special place.
Reply from Geoff Butcher, Director at Northleach Court Care Home"exceeded expectations" - that is fantastic and we are so delighted that we achieved that - Northleach Court is truly a place of warmth, love and happiness and personally i am so pleased that your felt and saw that - thank you so much for taking time to give such a kind review

I was a little nervous going in for respite care, but very quickly realised how nice everyone was and how welcome the staff made me feel. The care staff are so lovely, helpful and kind. The chef was very kind and made me meals suitable for my diet and always checked to make sure I was happy. I cannot
thank everyone enough for looking after me so well. Whilst I am now back at home, I am planning to return to Northleach very soon, as I miss all the lovely carers, the food and the happy atmosphere of the home.

Although refurbished there is still areas that require improvement & look shoddy. Quite often a delay for visitors gaining entry. Likewise it is annoying often ringing & not speaking to anyone direct - just asked to leave a message which is not always responded to. Surely contact with a member of staff
should be possible at all times.
Reply from Geoff Butcher, Director at Northleach Court Care HomeHi - perhaps the best thing i can say is that as you can see from other reviews , this isnt how other people see Northleach and that concerns me deeply . We monitor response times to nurse call and front door bells and with the very rare exception it is answered within a minute - i am very sorry if that is not your experience. We also closely monitor the voice message system and we will go back and check what has happened with messages from yourself because yes we should respond to all messages promptly so within an hour or so. However at lunchtimes and during night shifts , it may not always be possible for someone to answer the phone if at the time, they are providing care to a resident . Please could you arrange to meet with Fay the Registered Manager as soon as possible to discuss your concerns as we are very keen to learn from your feedback - many thanks

We recently moved mum into the home and from the outset all the staff are so welcoming and friendly and have put all our worries at ease.
The home has recently been refurbished and is looking absolutely splendid.
Mum wants for nothing and all her needs are catered for and all staff are so attentive
and go above and beyond even offering to nip to the shops if mum wants something.
A lovely airey environment that has brought mum out of her shell and she has fitted right in. We Were worried that her dementia might cause her anxiety in moving in but its been quite the opposite and she is chirpy and happy and making new friends. Its all been brilliant.

My mother had a two day respite care at Northleach while attending the wedding of her grandson in the Cotswolds. From the first contact the home has been extremely helpful and professional in every aspect of mum's stay. The manager Gerry is an extremely helpful lady and kept in contact by phone and
email and ensured that everything was put in place prior to Mum's stay. On arrival all the staff were aware of her needs and her name and couldn't have been more welcoming and professional given that it was just a 2 day visit. Within the first hour she had been settled in her room, given a freshly prepared lunch and had a full care assessment and health check. Overall I was very impressed with the friendliness of all the staff both to Mum and all the other residents. The home is undergoing a massive refurbishment project which is needed as parts of the home do seem very old and tired but the freshly refurbished areas look great and once completed the building will be much improved.
Reply from Geoff Butcher, Director at Northleach Court Care Homewe are delighted that everything went so well with your mother's stay with us. Mum has lived with mixed dementia for a few years. Last year she declined rapidly over a few days and we needed urgent admission to residential care. From the first phone call everyone was so kind, the managers, the administrator, even the finance team. My mum moved in within 48 hours of our first call
and has been a resident for over a year now. The whole team at Northleach Court are fantastic, so friendly, caring and compassionate. No matter who we speak to everyone is happy to give us time to talk about Mum. The big refurbishment is nearly finished and the new areas are lovely, the new upstairs lounge and coffee area is a great addition. Most of all though the people are fantastic and many have been there for a long time. We can speak to a nurse looking after Mum just by phoning or asking when we visit, they always give us their time so generously. We know Mum has the best care and we, her family, are well supported by the Team at Northleach Court.
Reply from Geoff Butcher, Director at Northleach Court Care Homethank you so much for your very kind review which we will be sure to pass onto the staff team who i know will be so so pleased. i am delighted you like the result of the massive refurbishment and the last piece of that was completed yesterday when the new lift and reception area were commissioned

Mum had signs of dementia and the strain of looking after her in my home was making me ill. Northleach Court employs its own staff (mum hates change), offered everything we needed and, to be blunt, was affordable. The big refurbishment was initially a concern, but it will be lovely when it's completed
later this year, and the workmen take great care not to disturb the residents. Some areas are finished, and the residents love their new lounge/café. Mum immediately took to the manager when she visited for the assessment, which is very unusual, and after a bit more thought we arranged for her to move in on 7th January 2025. The staff are lovely: unfailingly friendly, cheerful, helpful and so patient with all the residents, many of whom have dementia. Mum is not a "joiner", but there are lots of activities if she wants to join in. She loves the food, the two resident PAT kittens and the peace and quiet of the location, and she has company when she wants it. I couldn't have chosen better.
Reply from Geoff Butcher, Director at Northleach Court Care HomeThank you so much for your most generous review which says so much about Northleach and its fantastic staff team . By the way, the major refurbishment will be finished in 4 weeks and then the residents will have a lovely modern but homely home inside that lovely Cotswold stone facade - its going to be fantastic !

When my Aunt first came to Northleach Court, the building was in the midst of a massive refurbishment, which was a little disconcerting. But the atmosphere in the home was, and continues to be, amazing. The staff exude warmth and friendliness, and everyone, without exception, has a smile on their face.
Activities in the home are constant, varied and adapted to each residents needs. Everyday, residents are shown food options and able to choose their menu (and the food looks fantastic); when my Aunt had a birthday, the chef cooked her a fabulous cake as part of her birthday tea party celebrations, arranged by the staff. Nothing is too much trouble and my Aunt has flourished since moving in. A massive, heartfelt thank you to the management team and all the staff for their support and kindness. Now that refurbishments are coming to end, this 5* star care home will look as outstanding as the care provided within.
Reply from Geoff Butcher, Director at Northleach Court Care HomeThank you for such a fullsome review for which we are so grateful . Honestly what can I say.... Northleach Court have been amazing to my wonderful Dad who has sadly now passed away, but the kindness, professionalism and more importantly the warmth the staff have shown to us as a family has been amazing.... I can say that Dad had the best time and was looked after so
well with a lovely room and the staff, food, communication and everything else in between has made things so much easier for us as a family. The entertainments were fantastic and Dad so enjoyed the music :-) He had the best time .... My mother entered Northleach Court in July 2024 under Palliative Care until she passed away in May 2025. During her stay she received first class care from all members of staff who work under difficult circumstances due to a large number of residents suffering from dementia. The building has been under
renovation for the entire period and is now beginning to look much improved from the tired property of 2024.
The nursing staff have kept me abreast of mum's ongoing condition on a regular basis and mum was very comfortable during her 10 month stay.
Once again, congratulations and thanks to the manager and her dedicated team for providing a high level of compassionate care.

Mum has been In residence at North Leach Court since 03/24 after a fraught 24 months. With me attempting to repay the care Mum had provided to me throughout my life, Our relationship was sadly in decline. Dropping Mum off for me was devastating it showed in a way I had failed.
The team leaves no stone
unturned and finds so many things to celebrate Mum loves it. Donkeys, singing, birds of prey, tea tasting Gardening, Chinese New Year the big festivities Xmas, Easter, New Year, Valentine's and Birthdays. So much goes on and is a real credit to the home. The whole staff team get involved. The management, Admin Carers, Nursing, Chef, and Maintenance staff, have their own roles but always spend time engaging with the families and Service users.
Back to Mum I look forward to my visits, yes dementia will take more of a toll, however our relationship although different to a Mum and Son is one, I have come to enjoy. Seeing my Mum engaged, and with that smile is a pleasure to see

I have been visiting the facilities of Northleach Court Care home for around 8 months to ensure all residents are looked after in regard to their Foot Care Needs. I can safely say that all residents there are looked after to a high standard. Everyone is patient with residents and always kind/Friendly.
Northleach Court in my opinion couldn't do more to ensure all standards are abided too. Some of the staff members are exceptional at multitasking various different aspects whilst under a lot of the day to day stresses.

My mother was a resident at Northleach Court from April 2024 until November 2024.
During her stay, you couldn't fault the care and attention she received from all the members of staff, especially as my mother suffered from extremely poor sight and hearing which must have been a challenge to all the
staff.
On visiting my mother, we were always warmly greeted and made to feel welcome.
We were kept up to date with her wellbeing via an internet link which was great.
Overall we were impressed with Northleach Court and would definitely recommend the Home.

My (step) grandmother spent the last 4.5 years of her life at Northleach Court after decades of living independently. Due to firstly Covid and secondly my living abroad, I never got to see that much of the care home so I can't comment too much on food/facilities etc. I found the staff always helpful
and friendly and for me, that was a big plus. My grandmother always seemed happy and enjoyed her time there as best she could with her advanced age.
Once dementia set in for her, I received regular phone calls and updates from staff on her health, which I was grateful for. Overall would recommend.
Reply from Geoff Butcher, Director at Northleach Court Care HomeThank you so much for your review - it was a real pleasure having your grandmother living at Northleach - she was much loved by residents and staff alike. As I am sure you know we are doing a 2m + refurbishment of Northleach which includes complete refurbishment of all areas and when complete every bedroom will have an ensuite bathroom, there will be additional extensive lounges and dining rooms, a bistro cafe and hairdresser and beauty salon which I am sure will remove anyone's reservations about the rooms. Good care for Mum from staff who are committed to caring. Cheerful and approachable staff. Impressively varied activities programme. Waiting to gain entry to the care home often took longer than expected. Sufficient car parking but sometimes rather a squeeze to manoeuvre into the spaces.
Reply from Geoff Butcher, Director at Northleach Court Care HomeMany thanks for your review - we have recognised issues in visiting and are building a completely new reception area and cafeteria, that will be completed by early 2025 and pending that, the administrator's office has been relocated to right by the front door. Apologies about car parking, that is due to builders failing to heed our requests to park in the road - I will renew that "request"!

My mother was admitted to Northleach Court Care Home 17 months ago, we were able to choose her room and were able to decorate it appropriately for my mother. Staff were welcoming and thorough in their assessment of my mother's needs. Staff are experienced in the care of those with dementia here, and
we felt confident in putting my mother in the care of this home. The staff quickly became her new family, and spoke of her with respectful affection.
The staff treated my Mother with dignity, and gave her choices that she was able to make, this may have been choice of clothes to wear each day, and meal choices. The staff team, were always willing to listen to, and act upon any concern or suggestion we might have had for my mother's care and comfort, I always felt that you could have a reasonable discussion with them about anything and be confident that if needed they would make changes.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.779 for Northleach Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (196 Excellents x 5) + (42 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 244 Ratings = 4.779
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Northleach Court Care Home is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
