Resthaven offers 24 hours of residential and nursing care set amidst some of the finest countryside in Gloucestershire with panoramic views over the Painswick valley.

The care is nurse-led 24 hours a day and is unusual in the high level of qualified nurses (including mental health nurses) that are on every shift. The team has deep knowledge and understanding of dementia care and end of life care.

Each resident has a named nurse and carer who work closely with residents and families to create a person centred plan of care which is constantly reviewed. The home works closely with a multi-disciplinary team of external health professionals including doctors, specialist nurses and the NHS rapid response team to ensure every resident’s care needs are met and unnecessary hospital admissions are avoided.

Resthaven is fully accessible. All rooms have washing facilities and some include ensuite facilities or wet rooms. Residents are welcome to add furnishings and personal belongings to make their room their own.

The home offers a variety of communal areas: lounges, dining area conservatory and a chapel, with many areas enjoying the panoramic views. The tranquil grounds are a haven for wildlife and have the pleasure of watching the rich birdlife, rabbits, foxes and even deer from the home. The patios are fully accessible and there are plenty of paths to explore.

The catering team provide fresh, nutritious home cooked food and are skilled at adapting the menu for different dietary requirements and for those with swallowing difficulties.

The activities team work both individually and in groups to offer varied, stimulating and enriching activities which include visiting musicians and entertainers, arts & crafts, gardening, games, gentle exercise and trips out.

A cheerful welcome at reception and from the staff in the conservatory where my mother was seated. The big, airy room was clean and tidy and the friendly staff offered us tea/coffee. We passed my mother's room when leaving and this too was very clean, neat and tidy. A very good visit.

Resthaven is an exceptional care home.
Our mother had complex and rapidly evolving needs as her ongoing paralysis grew steadily worse. Her brain remained as sharp as mustard till the day she died, but by the end, she was paralysed from the neck down, could hardly talk and needed help with every aspect
of life and personal care.
The Resthaven staff were consistently kind, attentive and patient - listening carefully to her and treating mother with real dignity and respect to the end.
In our experience, Resthaven fosters a staff that is that rare combination of being ultra-professional and well-trained with genuine human warmth and a patient-first mentality.
We can't thank them enough.

We visit my brother-in-law every week. We have a 2-hour journey from Wales and invariably, when we arrive, we are offered tea and a warm welcome. My brother-in-law is well cared for and always washed and dressed when we arrive. He has settled in well and thanks to all the staff, has made good relationships
with both carers and patients. The facilities are good and meet his needs. We are particularly impressed by the friendliness and professionalism of all the staff we have encountered. The cleanliness of his room and all service areas is of a high standard. The whole family are impressed and grateful that he has found a d second home.

My mother was a resident at Resthaven for the last six months of her life. The facilities are good, the activities engaging and varied, food is excellent, as is the cleanliness of the home. The first room Mum was in was rather small but when a bigger room was available she was moved and it was lovely.
The location is beautiful but the outstanding memory I will have is the staff who were all fantastic - caring, compassionate, professional and just friendly and helpful.

We have dealt with Resthaven for almost 12 months now, and everything about it has been brilliant. The staff are caring, considerate and helpful, especially in providing a dedicated support group for family and friends to share experiences and better understand dementia. Even when issues are raised,
they do their best to resolve them. We are very grateful to them for all they have done and continue to do. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for care for their family member.

I have found Resthaven to be a friendly and caring home. After Mum's initial few months, she has several friends, who are residents and being a very sociable lady herself, has great pleasure being with friends. Mum has been at Resthaven since July 2023. Albeit not the cheapest, it has so far ticked all the boxes we required for the ongoing needs and future care, and she seems happy there. As a regular visitor, I'm always made to feel welcome and I find all the staff approachable, friendly and helpful.
