We have dealt with Resthaven for almost 12 months now, and everything about it has been brilliant. The staff are caring, considerate and helpful, especially in providing a dedicated support group for family and friends to share experiences and better understand dementia. Even when issues are raised, they do their best to resolve them. We are very grateful to them for all they have done and continue to do. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for care for their family member.

We are very happy that Mum is looked after and very well cared for at Resthaven. The staff and location are excellent. The atmosphere is always welcoming at any time of the day. Mum's quality of life and indeed ours, is so much better knowing that Resthaven and its staff are looking after her. We really appreciate it.

I have found Resthaven to be a friendly and caring home. After Mum's initial few months, she has several friends, who are residents and being a very sociable lady herself, has great pleasure being with friends. The staff are terrific and more like friends than just carers. A difficult job, which I have great admiration for them.

Mum has been at Resthaven since July 2023. Albeit not the cheapest, it has so far ticked all the boxes we required for the ongoing needs and future care, and she seems happy there. As a regular visitor, I'm always made to feel welcome and I find all the staff approachable, friendly and helpful.

I am always happy to visit Resthaven at Pitchcombe Care Home and feel welcomed by the staff when I do and appreciate that I can come to visit at any time of the day.

I haven't rated all of the options because I am not aware of the questions of management, security and finance.

My mum is being extremely well cared for at Resthaven. She has been warmly welcomed from the start by all the staff and management. She has grown more social and confident over her year at Resthaven in participating in group and communal activities and continues to be gently encouraged by the excellent activity coordinators at Resthave. I have witnessed great care and kindness towards my mum by all staff and management at Resthaven. Thank you!

My mum was cared for here during the last period of her life. She was diagnosed with a life ending cancer and I sought help from Resthaven for palliative care. From the moment we spoke to Resthaven all the team, from management through to all the care and support team, demonstrated kindness and compassion.
Transfer was swiftly arranged from an out of county hospital and, within days, she was transferred to her own room overlooking the orchard. She was happier than we had seen her in months. She died peacefully within the month. Often, when visiting, we would arrive and find one of the care team sitting with her, assuring her that she was not alone. With all her care needs met, we were able to maximise the time we had left with her.

Thank you all for the care, respect and professionalism you showed to my mum. You are doing a wonderful job.

I am retired and happy that my husband of many years (fifty-six) seems happy and settled at Resthaven and is receiving very good care. He is fond of his carers, which speaks volumes. I and my family visit him and are always warmly welcomed and well supported by the administrative staff, carers and nurses. My husband is immobile so we are in the process of oragnising a suitable chair.

We are absolutely delighted by the care at Resthaven. Under the manager's direction, the team are diligent, personal, warm and caring. Dad is suffering from Alzheimer’s, but has flourished; his eating, speaking and general quality of life have improved under their care. He is happy. The team are very skilled, but more, they treat him as family. All the team have become very special to us and finally Mum, my two sisters and I can draw breath and know he’s in the best place. We wouldn’t have him anywhere else.

My mother was admitted to Resthaven in March 2021. There were several episodes of closure due to COVID, but the staff keep me fully informed and I felt she was well looked after. She became end-of-life care in September 2022 and I was able to spend her final week with her at Restheven. The staff, without exception, were incredible to both her and myself. As my mother had been a keen horsewoman, Resthaven organised a pony to come in and see her in her bedroom 2 days before she died. She was barely conscious but was definitely aware of the pony's presence. A most touching sight and I cannot praise Resthaven enough.

Mum was at Resthaven for a short time before she passed away.
The staff were all absolutely lovely and very caring not only to Mum but to me as well.
I felt she was very well looked after and they regularly phoned to update me.

It is a peaceful place with beautiful scenery and I felt it was the right place for Mum.

Resthaven was my mother's home since 2017. The first few years we certainly can't complain about. However, in the last 18 months, things have changed so much from not having staff and using agency staff on all shifts to stupid rulings around Covid like we could see mum Christmas eve but it was not safe to see her Christmas Day or Boxing Day but could see her again as normal after. This stole our last Christmas with my mum away from me and my family. Care standards are poor at best because of not having their own staff and those staff that are still there struggle to try and maintain standards against the odds. Mum passed away 6 weeks ago which, unfortunately, due to the staff not following end of life wishes, was a unnecessary very traumatic event for me and my family. I can only hope things will improve for those that live at Resthaven.

Mum has just completed a respite stay at Resthaven - we referred to it as her holiday and it certainly proved to be so, as well as some needed downtime for us. The communal eating and activities certainly sparked flashes of the old mum, who always enjoyed getting involved with her local community. The stimulation of other people around prompted more interaction and engagement than we've seen for over a year. Equally, she could stay in her room for some quiet time if she preferred, so very flexible around the resident's needs. Ideal.

All the staff we met were kind and helpful in answering any questions or concerns we had and the impromptu dementia training I had with her carer when I picked mum up was very reassuring and has given me some useful techniques to employ. Our thanks to all and looking forward to future bookings.

My mother only spent a couple of weeks in Resthaven before the end of her life but the staff were excellent and always treated her with respect and dignity. At one hundred years old she knew her own mind and the staff accommodated to be foibles and wishes with humour which she loved. A very good end to her long life.

My mum, aged 91, has been at Resthaven for a couple of years now. The staff went out of their way to make mum feel welcome and cared for on her arrival, which helped her settle down so much quicker than expected. Mum is truly happy at Resthaven. As a daughter I'm thrilled that I can rest knowing that my mum is being looked after well.
The residents have space to move around, outside of their rooms. They have lounges to play cards games, etc, including a nice eating area for their meals with the other residences.
Mum enjoys a bit of both. Sometimes she will stay in her room to watch her favourite TV programs, but then venture out to chat to staff and residents.
The views from Resthaven are also breathtaking, looking out over the Stroud valley.

All in all, I'm thrilled that I found this wonderful home for my dear old mum in her hour of need. Her happiness helps me feel happier too.

My Mother chose to spend a month with Resthaven to decide if she would like to stay. I am delighted to say she did and we as her family have nothing but thanks to the team there for their caring and friendly help. She is 97 years old and frail, but they make her feel welcome at all times

Superb support following the death of my mother whilst my father is in your care, both of me and of dad. Wonderful support to include him with a private, intimate farewell in the chapel for which I'm grateful for.

Not having seen his room for a year, and he's been moved, (only once in an emergency) can't comment on that.
