I visit Grandma weekly and I am very disappointed with her care, in particular the state of her room. Today I arrived and a drink had been spilt all over the floor. I asked for a mop in order to clean it myself but after a short while I was told the cleaners had left and there was no access to a mop. I cleaned it with paper towels but this left the floor sticky. I asked again for a mop and was again told there was no way to access one. I filled her wash bowl with hot water and used a towel to clean it on my hands and knees. Getting down on the floor allowed me to see how dirty it really was. Disgusting. At this point someone arrived with a mop and offered to help but I continued and finished cleaning myself. Her draws had sticky gunk all over them. There was food under her bed. Her foot rest looked as though it had vomit on. It had been shoved behind her door out of sight and I confess to leaving it.. I wonder if it will be in the same state next week when I visit?

In the six months Anita has been in the care of Resthaven, I cannot fault the care she has received. All the staff have been so kind, compassionate and friendly to Anita and myself. It was a worry for me to try and find a nursing home for Anita but I can relax now knowing I made the right choice. Resthaven is perfect!

Reply from Jaya Amaresh, HR Manager at Resthaven Care Home

Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback. We're delighted to hear that Anita has settled in so well and that our team has made both of you feel supported and cared for. Your kind words mean a lot to us, and we'll be sure to share them with our staff, who work hard every day to make Resthaven feel like home.

Dad was admitted to Resthaven in December 2025 after having a stroke. Although dad has found it hard to communicate due to having limited speech the staff have found ways to communicate with him. All the staff/management have been friendly, welcoming and caring. They have gone above and beyond to help Dad settle in well. At the end of this month it was dads birthday, staff sang happy birthday to dad along with a cake, this made his day that extra bit special. I am so pleased we found Resthaven. Family and friends when they have visited have also said what a lovely place it is from the location to the friendly/welcoming staff the cleanliness and the smell of home cooked food.

I was privileged to be able to attend the choir concert at Resthaven, which was very enjoyable. The choir members sang with enthusiasm and gusto and looked very professional in their choir t-shirts. There was a great variety of songs and audience participation was encouraged too. Everyone seems to enjoy themselves - a fantastic afternoon. Looking forward to the next one.

A cheerful welcome at reception and from the staff in the conservatory where my mother was seated. The big, airy room was clean and tidy and the friendly staff offered us tea/coffee. We passed my mother's room when leaving and this too was very clean, neat and tidy. A very good visit.

Overall Experience
Resthaven is an exceptional care home.
Our mother had complex and rapidly evolving needs as her ongoing paralysis grew steadily worse. Her brain remained as sharp as mustard till the day she died, but by the end, she was paralysed from the neck down, could hardly talk and needed help with every aspect of life and personal care.
The Resthaven staff were consistently kind, attentive and patient - listening carefully to her and treating mother with real dignity and respect to the end.
In our experience, Resthaven fosters a staff that is that rare combination of being ultra-professional and well-trained with genuine human warmth and a patient-first mentality.

We can't thank them enough.

We visit my brother-in-law every week. We have a 2-hour journey from Wales and invariably, when we arrive, we are offered tea and a warm welcome. My brother-in-law is well cared for and always washed and dressed when we arrive. He has settled in well and thanks to all the staff, has made good relationships with both carers and patients. The facilities are good and meet his needs. We are particularly impressed by the friendliness and professionalism of all the staff we have encountered. The cleanliness of his room and all service areas is of a high standard. The whole family are impressed and grateful that he has found a d second home.

This has been a really valuable group to meet other residents' families and gain some peer support. It's reassuring to know you're not alone. The group and the staff at Resthaven provide a safe space to talk about the challenges we face as family members and it's lovely to hear and share positive experiences.

My mother was a resident at Resthaven for the last six months of her life. The facilities are good, the activities engaging and varied, food is excellent, as is the cleanliness of the home. The first room Mum was in was rather small but when a bigger room was available she was moved and it was lovely. The location is beautiful but the outstanding memory I will have is the staff who were all fantastic - caring, compassionate, professional and just friendly and helpful.
