We are so pleased with the care dad has received since coming to Immacolata. He is settled and seems very happy here. Also really pleased with the care afforded to mum when she visits regularly and this care and support have made the huge change easier to cope with as she feels so welcome here.

The staff are always pleasant and helpful. The necessary security means 'dropping in' takes a long time. I am concerned that the person I visit is never in a wheelchair that she could move around many be using her feet - she did this all the time before she went into hospital. Now she is stuck in one
place in the lounge or her room unable to move herself. This will make her physically weaker and socially isolated. She might benefit from an electric wheelchair. I am a health professional.

Thank God, after nearly a year in a locked ward in this "care home", the family of this resident has eventually managed to get him moved to a nice homely care home closer to his home of Yeovil. When one of us plucked up the courage to criticise this place, the manager quickly said that he would be evicted
to another place, no matter what home or how far away and we did not have a say in it, despite his partner having full power of attorney for him. We have found this ward to show not an ounce of compassion for its clients (as the manager likes to call them) and the atmosphere could not be less homely. Since last March he has been reduced from a fairly fit and a little overweight man in his late sixties with very poor eyesight and poor hearing to an underweight (lost 30 kilos) dependent shadow of his former self, now having previously non-existing conditions of incontinence, total blindness, a need for someone to feed him and dress him.

We are disheartened to read about your concerns regarding your relative's care. Resident wellbeing & comfort is our utmost priority. We value open communication with families. It is never our intention to dismiss concerns without proper consideration. If there was any miscommunication/misunderstanding, we sincerely apologise. Your relative's emergency placement in our home, which was always temporary, came to an end. The funders (social services) sought a permanent placement. Your relative had complex needs before joining us, including being registered as blind. He received diligent care including close monitoring by healthcare professionals. It's worth noting that health changes can be attributed to various factors, including progression of his dementia. We appreciate the thorough investigation conducted by the council's Adult Safeguarding Team, requested by the family, which found no issues regarding his care. We wish him the best in his new home & remain open to further discussion.

At present, it is very hard to give an informed review.
Since my uncle has moved into the care home, there have always been Covid restrictions.
My uncle appears clean and fairly settled when we visit.
I would like to be kept more informed of any activities he is involved in.

My husband has Parkinson's with Lew Body Dementia. He is well looked after and always has his own clothes on and is clean and well-shaven. Medication is on time so important with Parkinson's. He is now mobile but has a special chair so that he can be taken to the community room and dining room. We are
kept well informed if he is poorly.

The grounds are a nice approach to the home and provide a pleasant and quiet area to wait with a resident. On reaching the entrance automatic doors are a simple and welcoming feature. Unfortunately, these are lev open sometimes and the air is full of flies. Sadly the visitor's toilet is behind a secure
door, which is a bit embarrassing.
The staff are generally friendly and attentive although they don't communicate all the decisions of management. The resident's room is kept clean and tidy. I haven't tried the meals but the cup of tea strangely came without milk. There are no signs of activities.

Staff are always very friendly and helpful on the telephone and whenever I visit. Covid has been a problem for all concerned in all homes, but I feel Immacolata House coped extremely well with all the restrictions included through no fault of their own.

My husband moved to Immacolata House in August 2021 during the time of more Covid restrictions, subsequently, these have eased, and now, as an "essential carer", I am able to visit three times weekly. The environment is good. A spacious room with en-suite, dining and lounge areas with home comforts.
Staffing levels appear to be excellent, caring, kind and sensitive to his needs, and also to mine. My husband is cared for, most importantly, with dignity. The meals provided are varied, first-class, and always, he is offered a choice. The staff are working hard to maintain his mobility and engage him in any activities that are possible following extensive research and time at Immacolata House. I really believe my husband is in the best possible, professional hands. Communication with the staff has been excellent.

My father went to live in Immacolata House from Nov 2019 until April 2020 where he passed away. What amazing people work there, my father was not the easiest to look after but the staff were amazing with him, he would laugh with them and I felt he was safe and looked after. I work nights, so I would
ring 3 am and every time the staff were happy to answer my questions, there were a lot of questions some times. I can't thank the staff enough they made a very hard decision easy for me. You are all wonderful, my father was so happy with you. Thank you all.

The staff have been absolutely amazing. I would thoroughly recommend Immacolata House. They have helped all of us through a very difficult and stressful time. They have and still do look after my father-in-law so well. Caring, thoughtful and happy people. Amazing food!

Over the five years, our Mum has been in your care, she has been treated with dignity as an individual. You can see that the staff care and worked to give our Mum a good quality of life.
At the end, Mum was treated with sympathy and dignity. After she died, staff showed continuing care by laying her
out and dressing her, so she was smart in her own style.
Our thanks to all at Immacolata House, for the care they have given our Mum over the last five and a half years.

My brother spent the final nine months of his life, at Immacolata, he was taken great care off. The staff were very empathic as well as professional.
I was always very well informed about his care plan and condition. I too was made to feel most welcome, by all the staff when visiting. I cannot praise
the staff enough. The home was always very clean and inviting, the outside surroundings very nice. I had every faith in them caring for my brother.

An unmarried lady used to her own space who says she finds carers coercive, invasive and rough. She has never used soap on her face and was mortified when her face was soaped and shaved. She was crying when we visited. (We have never seen her cry) She has language difficulties with the staff both ways
and finds them difficult to understand. Personal hygiene is personal and needs to be discussed. Cultural dress frightens client and she needs help here.

In 1989 after moving back to Birmingham, Sue started her Nursing career, first as a student nurse then moving to her first post on a stroke ward. Sue continued to work in various nursing roles.


An opportunity then arose to manage a home, who at the time were a small company in (Taunton Somerset). Sue managed the home for 10 years. Her next move involved turning failing homes around and building their reputations, a position she held for over 6 years.


In 2015 Sue joined Notaro Homes, her reason was she viewed the company as small enough to be personal, yet large enough to be effective and combined with an excellent local reputation. Sue has had a keen interest in Dementia care since 2009 which she continues to develop. She also holds a teaching qualification and enjoys mentoring students both pre and post-registration.


In her spare time, Sue lives on a smallholding of 5 Acres where she has sheep, ducks, chickens, geese and 6 dogs. She is also an assured breeder of West Highland Whites with the Kennel Club under the kennel name Alansus. Other hobbies and interests are travel, cooking, reading, walking and horse racing.

My name is Anumol, a 34-year-old originally from India. I’m a teacher by profession and came to the UK for higher studies, where I completed an M.Ed. degree. Over the past four years, I’ve been working as a Senior Care Assistant at Immacolata House. I enjoy engaging residents through different activities including conversation, and have gained valuable experience, particularly in caring for individuals with dementia. My role has taught me how to handle challenging situations effectively, and I take pride and joy in my responsibilities every day.

My name is Siobhan, I am 27 years old and I started working at Immacolata House 7 years ago. I first started working here as a Care Assistant and after 3 years I then did my NVQ which lead me to progress to a Senior Care Assistant. After being a Senior Care Assistant for 3 years I was then privileged to of been able to progress again to a Care Supervisor.
Outside of work, I can be found that I spend a lot of my time with my family, partner and my two dogs. My hobbies include walking my dogs and going on days out with my family and weekends away with my partner.

I joined the home as a domestic but went on to be a care assistant, senior care assistant, care supervisor and my most recent role of assistant practitioner. Outside of work I am mostly found spending time with my husband, 2 daughters and dog. My hobbies include cooking and long dog walks.

My name is Julie and I’ve been an Administrator at Immacolata House for just over a year. I have worked in admin roles within the care sector for 4 years, along with over 25 years in the housing sectors for the homeless. I have worked in various different sectors but found that my passion is within care. The role is varied and i enjoy helping everyone within the home and those who visit their loved ones. I am the first person that people see when they arrive and love to welcome existing and new families to Immacolata.
