My partner has been at Immacolata House for just over a year. The staff are kind, patient and good humoured and he is very well cared for. The home is clean and warm and meals are good and plentiful. Should there be any concerns about my partner's health I am informed straight away. The staff are always
prepared to listen should I have any worries. I would be happy to recommend Immacolata House.

Immacolata House is situated in a lovely rural setting with open grounds and farmland just outside Langport. The home has, due to managament and staff that homely and relaxed environment which is highly important to residents. Food and overall cleaniness is exceptional and gardens are kept to a good
standard. Immacolata House has my recommendation to any future family member.

Lounge staffing is sometimes inadequate with residents left unsupervised as staff breaks coincide or overlap. Increases in agency staff leads to a lack of familiarity and understanding of individual needs and preferences. Diarised requests have been missed and handover from night to day staff can add
to these problems. In some cases, agency staff appear improperly trained in the physical handling of residents needing hoists/wheelchairs leading to discomfort and a reluctance to co-operate. My opinion of staff - 'satisfactory' is a general view. Staff in the main are good or excellent! Despite the reservations listed, I am content with the care and attention my wife receives, hence I am 'extremely likely' to recommend this care provider, based on a four year tenure.

Please, would you report any specific concerns that you note during your visit at the time so that the nurse in charge can deal with it promptly?
We do aim to have someone in the lounge areas, however, as you can appreciate at times they may need to assist someone and therefore may not always be present. The standard throughout the home is excellent. The staff are very friendly, caring and there appears tob e little staff turnover. I feel this is down to the Manager who is always to be seen and is very approachable. The atmosphere is always pleasant with a lot of interaction between staff and residents.
I cannot comment on value for money as a D.O.L. is in place.

Immacolata House is well staffed, with well-trained nurses and carers (as well as support staff) who understand the needs of people with dementia. I would prefer it if staff wore name badges. There are a lot of them and it is difficult to remember all of their names. The ID lanyards that they wear often
twists round so that you cannot see the name.

Unfortunately, we do not deem it safe for our staff to wear name badges, as we feel they could potentially cause harm to residents during moving and handling. We feel that lanyards are a safer option. We have installed a photo board in the reception at Immacolata House, which has the photo, name and position of each person that works within the home. My mother has been at Immacolata House since February 2018. When she arrived from hospital, she could not walk unaided but after the care and support of all the staff and management, she is now mobile with a walker and much better.
All the staff have been wonderful and very caring to mym and our family.
This
has been a very hard and stressful time for us and the care and support from Immacolata house has been wonderful. Thank you, everyone.

I found the staff very attentive towards my mother and treated her with great respect. Guests were warmly welcomed and offered a chair and refreshments when required. On the one occasion, I found the need to mention unclean areas, it was quickly sorted without fuss. I would happily recommend Immacolata
House to others.

My husband has been cared for at the home since November 2011. The home has done the best they can do to meet his needs which are complex since his major stroke in May 2005. When a problem has arisen, the manager and family have been involved to find an appropriate result.

My father received the level of care appropriate for his needs, including equipment, respect and kindness, daily living. The staff were excellent and the home and his room a delight to visit. He was comfortable and interacted well until his final days. As his health deteriorated, staff responded promptly
to his changing needs.

My husband was admitted 4 months ago as I could no longer cope with his Alziehmers and mobility problems. He was, from the start, made very welcome and his various needs noted and cared for. He has settled so well. Thanks to the lovely atmosphere and level of care. I am kept fully informed of his health
and any changes with him. The whole family feel very lucky that we were able to find him this home and that he is so happy and safe.

I can barely praise Immacolata House, Langport highly enough since the marvellous new manager took over and hope she will stay for at least Mum's lifetime ...and, preferably, mine too! Great changes have been made and all of them good/reassuring. My [feisty!] mother is more contented/healthy than she
has been in a very long time and the carers seem happy to be delivering such a well defined/high quality of care. Thank you.

My mother has been at Immacolata since November 2015 and both myself and my wife are very impressed with the standard of care. All of the staff are very friendly and caring and really listen to what you say. Having a close relative with dementia is very difficult but it has been made a lot easier knowing
she is being looked after in a warm and safe environment by people who really care.

My wife is very well cared for and is very well turned out every day. As she cannot do anything for herself other than talk and walk.
The staff are so kind to her at all times. I visit her everyday and find it's a real pleasure to be there.

Management and staff at all levels are very friendly and helpful. The care shown to my mother is all I could ask for. The property is clean as a whistle, the menus are varied and there is a degree of choice.

Sue

Sue Stephens

Job Title: Care Home Manager Joined: 2015

Sue was born in the West Midlands, in 1977 she moved to Gloucestershire and started a career in Catering Management. In 1989 after moving back to Birmingham, Sue started her Nursing career, first as a student nurse then moving to her first post on a stroke ward. Sue continued to work in various nursing roles.


An opportunity then arose to manage a home, who at the time were a small company in (Taunton Somerset). Sue managed the home for 10 years. Her next move involved turning failing homes around and building their reputations, a position she held for over 6 years.


In 2015 Sue joined Notaro Homes, her reason was she viewed the company as small enough to be personal, yet large enough to be effective and combined with an excellent local reputation. Sue has had a keen interest in Dementia care since 2009 which she continues to develop. She also holds a teaching qualification and enjoys mentoring students both pre and post-registration.


In her spare time, Sue lives on a smallholding of 5 Acres where she has sheep, ducks, chickens, geese and 6 dogs. She is also an assured breeder of West Highland Whites with the Kennel Club under the kennel name Alansus. Other hobbies and interests are travel, cooking, reading, walking and horse racing.

My name is Anumol, a 34-year-old originally from India. I’m a teacher by profession and came to the UK for higher studies, where I completed an M.Ed. degree. Over the past four years, I’ve been working as a Senior Care Assistant at Immacolata House. I enjoy engaging residents through different activities including conversation, and have gained valuable experience, particularly in caring for individuals with dementia. My name is Siobhan, I am 27 years old and I started working at Immacolata House 7 years ago. I first started working here as a Care Assistant and after 3 years I then did my NVQ which lead me to progress to a Senior Care Assistant. After being a Senior Care Assistant for 3 years I was then privileged to of been able to progress again to a Care Supervisor.
Outside of work, I can be found that I spend a lot of my time with my family, partner and my two dogs. My hobbies include walking my dogs and going on days out with my family and weekends away with my partner.

I have proudly worked at Immacolata House for the past nine years, beginning my journey as a Registered Nurse and progressing to my current role as Deputy Manager. My career here has been deeply fulfilling, both professionally and personally as it’s meaningful and rewarding. Spending quality time with my family—especially my two boys—is one of my greatest joys.
