My mother was very ill in December but received excellent care and was nursed back to health by the lovely staff at Amesbury Abbey. They also took the time to communicate my mother's condition to my sisters and me on a daily basis.

My father has been in the care of Amesbury Abbey for nearly four years and I cannot rate highly enough the care, love and attention he receives every day. I live overseas and I never have to worry for a minute knowing he is in the very best possible care. The staff are always so kind and nothing is
ever too much trouble. I can't imagine him happier or in better care anywhere else.

We are so lucky to have found Amesbury Abbey, my mothers physical health, out look, mental health improved ten fold after her move in to her gorgious room at Amesbury Abbey. The carers are attentive, kind, patient, make Mum laugh, nothing is too much trouble. The activities are numerous, including
dinners, concerts, films, exercise, fun and laughter all are tailored towards the different levels and needs of the elderly, the attention to detail in all aspects of the Care home are first rate, I would highly recommend.

I have visited my 99 year old mother once a week throughout the time she has been at Amesbury Abbey and my 3 siblings do likewise. My mother is very content in the lovely surroundings at the Abbey but the one single factor that makes it so special is that the staff are so welcoming to anyone who visits
and always have time to stop, chat and make time for the residents.

My aunt was admitted to the home after a fall at home and a short period in hospital
She was given a large triple aspect room and en-suite bathroom. All at a very competitive price
Every care was taken to accommodate her personal requirements
In the ensuing period she has had to be relocated but
to an equally comfortable room She has insists in multiple items from her home to be brought in all of which have been accepted
There have been some items of interior improvements requested all of which have been quickly seen to
Mirrors, pictures and other wall hangings have been quickly fixed by very accommodating handy men
Staff are always quick to respond to all requests and the family are always informed of any medical issues
The management lay on numerous events through the year for residents and their families all of which are extremely successful and well attended

Amesbury Abbey has been the perfect choice for Mum. Her room is beautiful and she loves being surrounded by her own furniture. Her view is of gorgeous parkland and she loves seeing the sheep and cows. Having a view like this is fantastic for her wellbeing.
The staff are unfailingly kind. Knowing she
is in such good hands means I am not anxious about her. Mum loves the food, which is excellent. Amesbury Abbey just has a good feel. Visiting is a pleasure because the surroundings and staff are so lovely.

My Father in Law has been with The Amesbury Abbey Group now for over five years. The Abbey itself is a stunning building and an incredibly beautiful place to live. The care and support from each and every member of the staff is second to none. He is treated with kindness, dignity, warmth and utter respect
covering his needs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. His furniture , pictures, clothes and all of his own belongings surround him in his room. Housekeeping take great care of everything for him. The menu changes every day and there is always a choice of what to have. Breakfast, morning coffee, lunch, afternoon tea and supper provide all home cooked delicious items. The kitchen are always happy to fulfil any personal requests, especially on your birthday! When visiting my Father in Law its like entering into one very big family. Everybody is happy, lots of banter, lots of fun and a great atmosphere. The management team are exceptional, my Father in Law leads a very happy life there.

Mum and Dad were made very welcome in mid 2024. It's an inspiring environment and this gives residents and staff a quite unique place to live and work.
Dad had dementia but was supported with care and compassion and slipped away gently in Dec 2025.
I've always felt supported via the management team,
nursing and care staff, which has been a great comfort.

I had a wonderful two weeks of Respite care. All the staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. I had a very comfortable room and the food was all delicious and home cooked. All the residents seemed to be happy and were treated like family. There were a great many activities during the week
especially things such as Scrabble and card games for the memory and plenty of films etc. Would thoroughly recommend and such beautiful surroundings.

My father has been a resident at Amesbury Abbey for nearly two years. I live overseas in Australia and although it is so very far away, the staff, all the staff couldn't be more amazing at keeping me abreast of my father's health and wellbeing. He is so very happy there and so amazingly cared for. I
just can't fault any part of his care. He has a wonderful rapport with everyone and just couldn't ask for more. When we stay over and visit we are so well accommodated and helped at every turn. The accommodation, food and everything is just 5-star!

My Father is now in his fifth year of living under the care of Amesbury Abbey Care. He feels well and truly at home with the wonderful team of staff that look after him every single day. Nothing is ever too much trouble The care is bespoke, individual and personalised to his needs. All of the staff
treat Dad as one of their own family. The nursing care is exceptional. The meals are really well planned and like being in a five-star hotel. Housekeeping looks after Dad's belongings, his paintings, family photographs and furniture, and makes sure he is looking dapper every day in freshly laundered attire. There are always activities going on which keeps Dad engaged with the other residents and means he still has a social life and things to look forward to. With reflection over the last five years, I am so lucky that I moved Dad to Winton and then The Abbey when I did. It's exceptional in every way.

My Mother has been a resident for two years following my father's death. She was very depressed when she came to the Abbey at Christmas 2022, feeling that her life was done and wishing it to be over but little by little she was helped to find her feet by the charming staff. The relaxed and homely atmosphere
combined with respectful encouragement to join in has worked its magic. She is now much happier and enters into the many activities laid on for the residents - the Christmas dinner, to which I was invited as a guest, was a joyful experience. I live abroad and can stay in the excellent guest accommodation when I visit. The communication between the care home and my brother, sister and myself has been excellent. Highly recommended.

Fantastic home for my mum, with caring staff that go above and beyond to keep her happy, well and engaged. There are many activities arranged and staff have the time to sit with her if needed or help her take part in activities. She is very happy and we have no concerns about her wellbeing. It's also
a stunning place to live with fabulous grounds to explore.

We, as a family of 3 siblings have been very pleased with Amesbury Abbey. Our parents are together in a nice suite and are warm and comfortable, surrounded by their own things. My parents cannot speak too highly of the kindness and care they receive from everyone at Amesbury Abbey. We three visit regularly
and would agree with this comment. My parent's situation is a difficult one, my father is 103 and really wants peace and quiet and to sleep, although he does very much enjoy stimulating company. Meanwhile, my mother at 98, would like to be incredibly active but is hampered by suffering from severe Macular Degeneration. The staff do their very best to help her and to involve her in anything that is going on in the way of activities.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.838) out of 10 for Amesbury Abbey is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.838 for Amesbury Abbey is calculated as follows: ( (260 Excellents x 5) + (46 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 308 Ratings = 4.838
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Amesbury Abbey is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
