My mother was a resident at the care home with terminal cancer. Unfortunately, her stay was short as she deteriorated quite suddenly. The carers were so nice, did the best they could to ease her pain and make her stay as comfortable as possible. She was treated with dignity and compassion and our family
were also helped with kind words and cups of tea.
Reply from Maria Wegner, Home Manager at Brendoncare FroxfieldThank you so much for your kind words. It was an honour to care for your Mother and to be able to support you at this difficult time. We wish we could have known her longer but are privileged to have had her stay at our home

My father was a resident. Sadly when my mother was on her death bed, dad thought he wouldn't get to the hospital to say goodbye. The manager went above and beyond her duty at 6 am dressed him and put him in her car and drove as quickly as she could to get him there, My mum passed away shortly after
she saw him. In my eyes, the manager is an Angel. Not only that but another male carer gave my dad an incredibly respectful passing, placing a rose on his chest. I am beyond grateful to all of them. Angels forever.
Reply from Maria Wegner, Home Manager at Brendoncare FroxfieldThank you for your kind words and we are so glad that we were able to help your Dad say his goodbyes. He was a lovely gentleman and is very missed.

We have nothing but good things to say about Brendon Care. Our mum was placed into Froxfield for end of life care. On her arrival, she was treated like royalty. The staff and management couldn't have done more to make her feel safe and comfortable to the end of her life. During my mothers stay we were
regularly updated on the next steps of action. Mum sadly passed on Sept 6th after battling illness for 27 weeks. Again the dignity shown with mums passing was above and beyond our expectations.
Reply from Maria Wegner, Home Manager at Brendoncare FroxfieldThank you for your kind words. We are privileged to have known your Mum and glad that we were able to offer you the support needed at this very difficult time for you.

The staff at Brendoncare Froxfield have always treated my mother with dignity, respect and great care. Without exception, they seem to take a personal interest in Mum, family and situation and take great pride in what they do. Despite all the Covid restrictions they have tried many creative activities
to keep my mother as active as possible. I believe it to be a well-managed establishment, with a predominately happy and skilled workforce. Keep up the good work.

We moved my nearly blind mother of 99 years to Brendoncare from sheltered housing in Bexhill which had been sold and the standard was going downhill. Well, what can I say, my mother was welcomed by wonderful, caring staff, nothing is too much trouble. She is a fusspot when it comes to food - not a problem
and her needs have been catered for.

Respite care postoperatively for my mother was excellent. Most attentive staff. Believe staffing levels very tight considering the cost of care seems odd, they struggle to retain staff. Continuity of care and the faces of those members of staff is vital. Too many changes. Cleanliness of room good, meals
especially tea time very basic. Nutrition - fresh fruit and vegetables needed more.
Reply from Maria Wegner, Acting Home Manager at Brendoncare FroxfieldThank you for your review and feedback and we will be introducing more fruit and vegetables. We are actively recruiting staff for the home and when we need to use agency staff we try to use the same ones.

My sister has been in care since October 2012 in the dementia unit. The family are totally satisfied with the care received. We are informed immediately of any emergency. I am able to visit, living locally, at any time of day. Subsequently, at no time have I found my sister wanting for anything. Her
room is always tidy and clean, laundry is done on a regular basis.
Staff are friendly, cheerful and patient.
A cup of tea is always available.

I always find staff happy to help my husband and me. The home has a happy atmosphere and there is always a welcome at reception when I arrive. I can always access my husband's daily records which I find to be of interest and importance and, if I need any clarification, there is always someone who will
explain points to me. Unfortunately, my husband is unable to join in with most activities.

My wife and I were very impressed when we visited last week. We had visited once before and were impressed then. The atmosphere was very welcoming and friendly and the home had a clean and bright aura. The decor was bright, homely and comfortable too. The staff were very helpful and caring.
Lunch
had been booked for us by a relative and this was very good in every respect. A visitor was playing the piano in the room adjacent to the dining room and the other residents were being treated to a splendid recital. Brilliant!

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.530)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.530) out of 10 for Brendoncare Froxfield is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.730 for Brendoncare Froxfield is calculated as follows: ( (103 Excellents x 5) + (31 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 137 Ratings = 4.73
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brendoncare Froxfield is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 44 registered maximum number of service users is 8.8, which has been reached with 12 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
