My 88 year old wife has been in Goatacre since June 30th 2025. She is completely bed bound and requires help with almost every thing, which also includes using the assistance pendant. While I am completely satisfied with the staff, who are caring and understanding, on more than one occasion I have had to call the staff because my wife was uncomfortable and routine checks were overdue. Which makes me wonder what happens when I'm not there. The accommodation is adequate but leaves a bit to be desired. Since my wife was moved into the room the window has never been able to close or open properly. Consequently there is a constant draught so the curtains have to be drawn. I have mentioned this to staff and I am informed that the window is scheduled for renewal. In the mean time we have to call for assistance to close the window as much as possible.

Reply from Norma Fernandes, Operations Lead at Goatacre Manor Care Centre

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I'm sorry to hear about the concerns you've raised. Please be assured that we will look into the routine checks to ensure your wife remains comfortable at all times, even when you are not present. We will also follow up on the issue with the window in...

We would highly recommend this care home based on the three and a half years our mother-in-law spent here. From the very beginning, she was treated with dignity, kindness and genuine compassion, and that standard of care never wavered.
The staff were consistently attentive, patient and caring, taking the time to understand her needs and preferences as an individual rather than just a resident. It was clear that they truly cared about her wellbeing, not only physically but emotionally too. As a family, this gave us enormous reassurance and peace of mind.
The home itself was always clean, welcoming and well maintained, with a calm and friendly atmosphere. Communication with the family was open and thoughtful, and we always felt informed and included in decisions about her care.
We are deeply grateful to the entire team for the support, respect and kindness they showed our mother-in-law over the years.

We would not hesitate to recommend this care home.

We have just been so overwhelmed by love and care shown to my sister. She is always treated with dignity and respect. We were thrilled when the home managed to transport her to a nearby pub so we could have a family reunion. She so enjoyed it. She is always talking about how wonderful the carers are and loves the quality of the food. Even the ground staff and maintenance workers are always courteous and kind.

Dad became a new resident last year in November 2023. I would like to say that Dad has settled in well over the last 12 months and it definitely feels like his home. I feel very reassured that he is being looked after really well. The care home staff are all approachable, caring and respectful and always greet the visitors like myself with a smile.
The care home appears to be very clean, and fresh-smelling. There is fresh food cooked every day for the residents.
Goatacre Manor Care Centre is definitely a home-from-home. With the added support of a very professional Nursing Team.

Thank you to everyone who works at Goatacre Manor Care Centre for all the wonderful care you give to Dad and the support you give me. Best wishes.

Dad is very settled and happy living at Goatacre Manor Care Centre. He enjoys joining in with the activities and entertainment and chatting and joking with staff. He has a lovely room to relax in when he wants some quiet time with easy access to a cosy, comfortable lounge area. The staff are brilliant and very caring. Dad loves all the interaction with them and the other residents and feels very well cared for. He always says he's lucky to have found such a good place to live and that everyone takes good care of him.
The staff were all amazing with us when we lost Mum. They took great care of Mum in her final days, Dad and all our family. Mum, too was very settled and happy living at Goatacre and enjoyed chatting with the staff and sharing family photos. The nursing care given to her was invaluable.
Dad enjoys the delicious, homecooked meals, family and friends are made to feel very welcome.

We would recommend Goatacre with its warm, homely atmosphere and wonderful, caring staff.

I was very reluctant to entrust the care of my mum to someone else, but she required round-the-clock nursing. Goatacre Manor provided this for over two years in a pleasant rural environment. I was kept informed of any developments by the friendly team who seemed to have plenty of time to discuss her needs. Whilst I would have preferred to continue giving her one-to-one care, I feel Goatacre Manor was the best choice. We are lucky to have this professional facility in our area.

When I first visited Goatacre I was made to feel very welcome, I didn't need an appointment and was told to visit anytime which was very reassuring.
The overall feel was extremely positive, the home was very clean, tidy, and well-staffed. The rooms were very pleasant and comfortable.
Since my Father has been in the home he has been very well looked after and is very content and comfortable.
Staff are very caring and dedicated to looking after their residents and are very personable.
Meals and drinks are well supplied and Dad polishes off all his meals.
The nurses are available should you have any questions.

Overall a lovely nursing home that cares about its residents.

Our dear Mum first went into Goatacre for ' convalescence' following a period of illness and hospitalisation. Within weeks we saw a renewed Mum and Granny thanks to the kindness and professionalism of all the staff at Goatacre, no matter their role. Mum had regained her confidence, independence and dignity, was enjoying the company, food and entertainment, interaction with other residents and especially the staff and probably most importantly feeling 'safe' again. Visitors are welcome in a home where resident comfort, health, hygiene, cleanliness and happiness are of paramount importance and the message that this is their 'home' abounds. For two and a half years Mum always knew she could come home if she wanted to but she also felt she was better off in the care of such wonderful people. The care that was shown to Mum and us as a family as she reached the end of her life was truly special, with loving words and kind hands. Would that such kind treatment is afforded to everyone!

What a fantastic care home this is, my wife is / was a resident here for four years and the care she received was second to none. The staff who looked after her are also fantastic. My mum was a resident for just over 16 months. It was a difficult time in her life and a huge decision to go into care. I cannot thank all the staff enough for helping us manage the transition in a considered and patient way. My mum was happy there, felt safe, had some fun and company and knew that the staff were there if she needed them. From our perspective, we implicitly trusted the staff to have Mum's best interests at heart, to contact us should there be any concerns and to treat Mum as an individual and with respect. We found them to be extremely caring towards Mum and ourselves, giving hugs and support when needed. The Goatacre Manor Care Centre was an extension of the family, for which we are so grateful.

My aunt spent two years at the lovely Goatacre Manor Care Centre. She was wonderfully looked after and enjoyed every minute of her time there. The staff couldn't do enough for her. The care and food were excellent. She loved all the activities, visiting singers and birthdays! Tea on the train with her was very special and also Sunday lunches.

I have friends who have relatives in other care homes and they usually start by saying, 'Oh it's ok, but' at Goatacre there are no 'buts'.
