Overall Experience
A wonderful caring community with the needs of the residents at the core of care provision. Our Mum received lovely care over a 2 year period. She was the lady who "danced to her own tune!" however all of the staff at Goatacre responded to her with dignity and respect - always.
Towards the end of Mums life and diminishing mobility, all of the staff would regularly just pop into her room to say hello and have a chat - over and above attending to her basic nursing needs. When she was well and more mobile staff would take her on outings which she loved!
As a family, we too were in receipt of their care. My brother travelled some distance to visit our Mum, often arriving late in the evening. He was always met with a smile and a cuppa!
As a former registered nurse, I couldn't fault the care Mum received.

As a grateful family, it was always comforting and reassuring to say goodbye knowing she would be in the best hands. We highly recommend Goatacre Manor Care Centre.

The whole experience of caring for the residents was simply first class. He was treated with compassion and dignity. His wishes were considered and he was made to feel that Goatacres was now his home and helped to be comfortable with the change in his circumstances.

The care and support was excellent and I would highly recommend Goatacre Manor.

My dad was transferred to Goatacre for his end of life care, after having been in hospital for two weeks, and the care that he received was exceptional. The manager and his fantastic team were professional, diligent, kind and full of empathy towards my dad, and this extended to me and my family too. The end of life for the family of a loved one is incredibly harrowing, but the staff looked after us so brilliantly every step of the way. The home itself is also very calm and relaxed. You really feel like you are part of a family while you are there and the residents all seem very happy to be there. Goatacre exceeded our expectations by such a long way. They made my dad's last week of life as comfortable and as stress-free as they could, and for that, we cannot thank them enough.

Very much home from home feeling when going into the home. Staff all very helpful and friendly. Very hard to get in touch with the manager as always in meetings. It took a week for the manager to reply to my telephone call.

Extremely happy with the standard of care my Dad received between August 2018 and Jan 2019. Staff were skilled and compassionate and we were given plenty of advice and support in the final weeks of his life. It made a huge difference and we will always be grateful for that at such a difficult time.

I have found this care home welcoming, friendly and happy. Good food, warm, very clean, helpful and informative. Nothing is too much trouble, very happy staff, each and every one. Good/excellent nursing. Patient with residents. I cannot talk too highly of this wonderful place. The above comments are not in any particular order.

I have been very worried about where mum would go but now I'm relieved and happy we have found this wonderful home for her.

Putting my grannie into a care home was a heartbreaking decision for my mum and I. Grannie has lived with my mum for approximately 15 years. She was diagnosed with Alzheimers approximately 5 years ago, she has been declining in her mental state, although physically she is very well. Goatacre is so welcoming, grannie is kept entertained through the day by singing, dancing and the PAT dog, she interacts with the team and other residents. She hasn't fallen because they keep a close eye on her. I cannot remember the last time I slept so well without worrying about her.

My dad has been a resident for a year now. Dad receives excellent care and his accommodation is clean and comfortable. All the staff and management are very caring and supportive. All meals are cooked there and are plenty of choices. I am happy in the knowledge that dad is safe and secure and he is happy.

Goatacre Manor has provided excellent care for my mother who suffered devastating strokes two years ago. The nursing and care staff cannot be faulted. The genuine care and affection shown to my mother and myself was exemplary. Mum and I could have wished for nothing more.

My father became a permanent resident at Goatacre Manor in November 2018. He came to the care centre following a long stay in hospital. Initially, my sister and I were very concerned about moving him out of hospital, as at this time, he was very frail and suffering from vascular dementia. However, we needn't have worried, as from day one he was well cared for and given his dignity. The staff were so very kind and couldn't do enough for him. We were extremely impressed by the standard of care and the attention they gave him. Importantly, for us the staff got to know my Dad in an extremely short space of time, understanding his likes and dislikes and treating with the upmost respect. My father sadly passed away in January 2019 but we were so grateful he died so peacefully at Goatacre Manor rather than in the hospital. After he died, my sister and I received wonderful support from all the staff at the home. We are so glad my father was able to spend his last few days around such kind, caring people.

Last year, I wrote how the awful experience of placing a loved one in care was made so much easier by the manager and the team at Goatacre Manor. This year, I write how, in those last moments, we were invited to stay in the onsite accommodation to be close by where we could stay by his bedside. Nothing was ever too much trouble. To the manager, I just want to pass on our sincere thanks to you and the team.

From the day I first entered this Nursing Home, I knew that my friend with dementia was in a safe, professionally run and caring environment. All the staff I met were very pleasant and kept me well informed of my friends daily routine and progress. Subsequent visits reaffirmed that once again the staff were very professional, friendly, cheerful and reassuring throughout my time at Goatacre Manor. I would certainly recommend this nursing home to anyone who finds they or their family and friends are sadly in need of looking after. A first class service delivered by a first class team.

My mother went to Goatacre Manor Care Home to recover from a stroke in July 2018. Sadly she passed away in September, but the care provided by the staff in the time she was there was second to none. She was always well looked after. Doctors appointments made and family informed. The staff were extremely helpful and made us all feel confident in the care my mother received.

My great uncle has been a respite resident of Goatacre Manor many times and I have to give praise to all staff, whether it be nursing, care, administration, housekeeping or management, they all work tirelessly to make sure my uncle is happy, content and well cared for.
He always enjoys his time at Goatacre Manor, there are many social activities that he participates in and which he really enjoys. He has been taken out on day trips to local beauty spots and has enjoyed the occasional strawberry ice cream. The food is all home cooked and is locally sourced, which helps local businesses. My uncle had a spacious bedroom, which looked out onto the beautiful garden areas and when the weather was good, sat outside and enjoyed them. I have always found the care home to be well kept i.e. clean and very tidy.

I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home, it is truly excellent!

I cannot praise the manager and staff enough for the care they are giving and showing my aunt. We last saw her in hospital and to see how much she has improved is remarkable. I was worried she wouldn't settle being an independent lady but she is so happy and content. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and they all have a happy disposition which reflects onto residents and visitors. We were able to spend the weekend with her as we were offered a flat due to the distance we had to come which was fantastic.

My sister spent the last 3 months of her life at Goatacre.
Everyone - whatever their job - was kind and supportive.
She was in some distress due to her condition and they did their best to make this time as comfortable as possible for her.
At the end, while we sat with her for the last 2 days, the staff were exceptionally kind and sensitive with their discreet care and attention to detail, based on years of experience.

They made a very difficult time into a very special time for us all.
