Came to Henford House for respite care following 5 weeks in hospital and also to spend time with husband who has just moved here. If needs should mean I need care, I would come here. Couldn't fault the treatment given by all the lovely friendly staff.

My friend entered Henford House just after her 90th birthday. From the very first, she has enjoyed living the beautiful gardens and recently the upgrading and re-decoration of the house. She enjoys some of the activities and the company of the other residents Henford House has given her great pleasure and security in the years she has lived there.

Helpful, friendly and caring staff. Cheerful surroundings

Their 'outings' to nearby places of interest would be very welcome and help to break up the time.

Reply from Lynne Leather, General Manager at Barchester Henford House Care Home

Many thanks for your kind comments. We currently have access to a mini bus which we are using to get residents out and about when the weather allows. It has proved to be a real bonus, and our residents have had some lovely trips out , for example to the local East Somerset Railway , and local Garden Centre for a walk round and coffee. More trips have been planned.

Henford House Nursing Home is an exceptional care home with dedicated and hard working staff who are always friendly, helpful, kind and considerate. The care home is always spotlessly clean and warm and the food from the kitchen is first class with a great menu! There is always a member of staff available to discuss any concerns, either in person or over the phone. A model for all care homes - excellent!

Review from Nigel L (Power of Attorney of Resident) published on 7 August 2015 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My wife and I have a Lasting Power of Attorney for a family friend who has been in Henford House for 3 1/2 years with early onset dementia, other mental health issues, severe leg ulcers, circulatory and respiratory problems. We chose Henford as we had previous experience with my late mother in law and knew their personal and health care care to be good.

Our friend is insular and a very challenging resident but the staff still manage him with a cheery smile and he admits that the care is excellent.

For the first 3 years he refused to leave his room and only left it for a shower or hospital appointments/admission. However, the Activities team eventually persuaded him to take escorted trips out and this has greatly improved his view on life.

We made absolutely the right call in selecting Henford for our friend.

Henford House is the most welcoming care home. It is 100% clean- no smells often associated with care homes. 100% professional staff. 100% caring staff. More like a real home than an 'institution'. Beautifully decorated. Rooms better than some hotel rooms! Food- amazing.

My goal is to ensure that all of our residents and their families and visitors feel comfortable and can enjoy being in this beautiful and welcoming environment; and that the staff feel fully supported to perform at their very best.
I began my career as a Speech and Language Therapist, working with adults in hospitals, care homes and in the community. Having moved into leadership and management has provided me the opportunity to drive high standards of care and ensure that people are valued as individuals. I am committed to continuing with these goals in line with the high standards and superior lifestyle delivered throughout Barchester.

The highlight of my work is spending time with the people we support, and I am always available to have a chat about our home, services, staff, and most importantly, our residents.

I have worked in Henford as a nurse since 2014. Many things have changed over that time, but the essence of what we do has never changed.
I am usually found working on days and my husband Daniel works at night here.
I am always happy to help out with any questions you may have about your loved ones here. I am in regular contact with the doctors and pharmacies to ensure medications are checked regularly, and our residents are healthy.

I joined Henford House in March 2014; after five and a half years of domiciliary care, this position became available at Henford and I decided that it would be great to do more of the fun things in life with residents! It is great here at home; we get along so well and truly have some laughs. Residents have a wide range of activities to participate in each week, including armchair exercises, bingo sessions, singalongs, musical entertainment, pottery, manicures, celebrations and much more. It is very rewarding knowing that people are grateful for the work I've done when I go. Working here has also given me the opportunity to gain my Level 2 NAPA certificate.
