Many thanks for your kind comments. We currently have access to a mini bus which we are using to get residents out and about when the weather allows. It has proved to be a real bonus, and our residents have had some lovely trips out , for example to the local East Somerset Railway , and local Garden Centre for a walk round and coffee. More trips have been planned.

My wife and I have a Lasting Power of Attorney for a family friend who has been in Henford House for 3 1/2 years with early onset dementia, other mental health issues, severe leg ulcers, circulatory and respiratory problems. We chose Henford as we had previous experience with my late mother in law and knew their personal and health care care to be good.
Our friend is insular and a very challenging resident but the staff still manage him with a cheery smile and he admits that the care is excellent.
For the first 3 years he refused to leave his room and only left it for a shower or hospital appointments/admission. However, the Activities team eventually persuaded him to take escorted trips out and this has greatly improved his view on life.
We made absolutely the right call in selecting Henford for our friend.

I joined Henford House in March 2014; after five and a half years of domiciliary care, this position became available at Henford and I decided that it would be great to do more of the fun things in life with residents! It is great here at home; we get along so well and truly have some laughs. Residents have a wide range of activities to participate in each week, including armchair exercises, bingo sessions, singalongs, musical entertainment, pottery, manicures, celebrations and much more. It is very rewarding knowing that people are grateful for the work I've done when I go. Working here has also given me the opportunity to gain my Level 2 NAPA certificate.
