Although my dad was only a resident at Mavern House for two weeks, we cannot praise the staff and the facilities high enough. The care shown to dad was so kind, gentle and respectful. All the staff were also incredibly kind and understanding to myself and my brother at what was a difficult and emotional time for us. The overall atmosphere of Mavern House is friendly, welcoming and very homely. The activities we saw encouraged residents to join in with celebrating Valentine's Day, Chinese New Year (with staff dressed up and Chinese themed meals) and dancing in the garden on a day when the weather was particularly warm. Overall a happy place to live and work.
Thankyou so much for your kind words it was lovely having you all with us.
My Aunt moved into the Mavern in April 2025 following a move from her home town where she had been resident in another nursing care home. We chose Mavern, after visiting a number of other homes in the area, due to the friendly welcome and discussion with the manager. Although the home is not purpose built, it has a warm and homely feel about it and has close ties to the local church, which we knew would be important for my Aunt. It also has all the amenities, facilities and specialist staff - including a lovely, professional team of nursing staff, that other nursing care homes have. The home has a team of activities staff who are extremely good at ensuring there are a wide range of activities on the programme daily. The team of carers are very kind and have time for the residents, trying to give the best daily life to each that they are able. There is a lovely enclosed garden where, in summer, the residents are able to sit and enjoy shade, fresh air and activities.
Thankyou for your kind words it's lovely to have a fellow Chester friend in Wiltshire!
At NO point did I ever hear anything inappropriate or harsh. The staff were always incredibly professional, polite and respectful in everything they did. Amazing really, as they certainly appeared genuinely very busy! The home certainly had a relaxed air about it and I couldn't be happier with the care my Uncle received. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Mavern House to anyone who was considering living there.
Thankyou so much for your kind words, your uncle was a valued member of our Mavern Family.
She doesn't always want to join in the activities but they try to encourage her and sometimes she does
We as a family are always welcomed with smiles and chat, it's like a big family
The nurses are always on hand to answer any questions and are very caring towards mum
Nicky the activity leader is amazing lots of fun
Jo the receptionist is brilliant as well often joins the activities with the residents
You are all definitely part of our Mavern Family we love having your mum here with us.
I visited from Scotland for a week and was really impressed. The staff are brilliant and try to ensure that every resident can get involved in the activities, which are varied and enjoyable. This was coming up to Christmas and activities were very seasonal and everyone seemed to be looking forward to Christmas. Staff are so kind and work extremely hard to ensure everyone's needs are met and more. A huge thank you to them all.
So kind of you to leave us a review. Visit anytime!
Both my parents moved to Mavern in November 2024 due to increasing frailty and were understandably nervous. My sister and I viewed a few care homes but none felt as homely and welcoming as Mavern. All the staff, regardless of their role within the home, bent over backwards to ease their transition and they are genuinely caring and understanding. The whole team consider themselves Mavern family and are attentive and cheerful. The nursing staff and management are compassionate and have supported both of my parents through tricky situations. The enrichment staff go above and beyond to create a friendly, warm and cheerful environment in the shared lounge and the other residents respond to this by being open and friendly to everyone. There is no doubt that this is a stressful move to make but I can't recommend Mavern highly enough, they have been an absolute Godsend to our family.
We love having you all as part of our Mavern Family.
My Gran has been a resident of Mavern for over 2 years now. She always tells me how well cared for she is and how much she likes the food (she put on a healthy level of weight when she arrived which was also fab). The team are super lovely and it is great all the activities they put on for the residents and also encourge family and friends to participate too. It is so reassuring to know she is being looked after by everyone there. Thank you to all the staff.
Thankyou for your kind comments and for being part of our Mavern Family.
They contact to let you know the smallest detail and i can send photos when i'm away.
The activities team provide excellent 1 to 1 and group activities. There's always something fun going on!

A quiet, well run home with sympathetic and caring people to look after your loved ones .
Thankyou so much for taking the time to write this review, we love you all being a part of Mavern House.
Our 98 year old mother went to live at Mavern this summer. She is a very anxious, nervous person by nature but the staff made a great effort to settle her in. We are now 3 months down the line and she is happy, settled and enjoying Mavern life. She has the company of people around to chat to and the comfort of her own room when she wants. The staff are so kind and genuinely caring, the activities are fun and have given mum a new lease of life. The nursing staff are professional and manage mum's various health problems with good clinical knowledge and empathy.
We absolutely love having your mum with us here, and you visiting too!
relief we felt that mum was going to be cared for with tenderness and dignity was immense.
We couldn't have been happier with the whole experience.
Thankyou for your kind words, it has been our pleasure supporting you all and caring for your mum/grandma/great grandma.
Both my mother and father are here and the staff try their upmost to make them as comfortable as they can. Going that extra mile to please them. The management are very knowledgeable and helpful and I would recommend this home to anyone looking for a friendly homely atmosphere.
Thankyou for your kind words, we love that you and your family being part of Mavern House.
She was in the Pathways area of the home where she very safe and cared for.
She enjoyed the food & the company. Very lovely room with all her personal belongings surrounding her ..
It's so popular mum hasn't been able to go back there this year ..
Thankyou for your lovely words, we would love the opportunity to welcome your mum back to Mavern House in the future.
Mavern House is welcoming, kind, compassionate and vibrant. Managers, carers, nurses, admin staff, cleaners and the kitchen staff all share the same ethos. Together they provide a personalised , nurturing and compassionate environment that is full of kindness and care. As a resident, my mother is treated with complete respect, both as an individual, encouraged to enjoy and get involved in new experiences, but she can also opt out of any activity and just appreciate watching the world go by. Personally, being able to visit my mother at any time, use the facilities to make us a drink, bring in the food that she loves and decorate her room in any way, provides her with a real home. My mother has been able to have her first bath in over 10 years, get her hair done and nails treated. Everyone who knows the care home environment has provided me with glowing testimonials when they know where my mother lives. I have now been able to experience this myself and realise its the culture created by residents and staff that makes Mavern House special and fully deserve its reputation. I am whole heartedly recommend Mavern House as a wonderful care home.
Thankyou for your kind words we are family here at Mavern and are so happy that your now apart of it!
Such a lovely home with incredible staff.
Thank you so much for your lovely review, at Mavern we are family and this is what is reflected in our care.
The care at Mavern House is ideal for my father's needs. They have excellent experience of dealing with dementia and as a result, my father is calmer and much more himself than in his previous environment. The staff are professional, calm, compassionate and humane and, in my limited experience, the care feels like the gold standard.
We love having your dad here at Mavern, thank you for your kind review.
She will now be staying for a lot longer and I am grateful that Mavern can continue to accommodate her. The management team have been very understanding and efficient, the care team professional and the housekeeping team incredibly friendly and helpful. The food is varied, very tasty and cooked on-site. Mavern House feels very homely and a happy place to be. They allow us to bring the family dog in to see her which pleases mum immensely. A big, big thank you to everyone.
Thank you so much for your review; we are very pleased to have your mum as part of our Mavern family.
My mother resided at Mavern for her end-of-life care and the last 7 weeks of her life. As soon as we visited the home before she moved in I felt a sense of peace, serenity and calm. This matched the experience we had as a family once Mum moved into the home. The staff are all very caring, supportive and warm; not only to residents but also to their families. My father also lived at the home for the last 3 years of his life 5 years ago. I would highly recommend Mavern as a home-from-home where preserving the dignity of residents and care is at the heart of everything the home does.
Thank you very much for your feedback. We pride ourselves on providing high standards of care to those who live at Mavern House. I will share your feedback with the wider team.
My dad was in for short respite care.
All the staff were incredibly caring and attentive.
Communication between staff and families was fantastic.
He was very well looked after and completely recovered from a hospital stay.
I cannot find fault or recommend it highly enough.
Thank you for your kind words - we hope that your dad is settling well and you know where we are if we can help with anything in the future.
All the carers and managers I have met seem incredibly kind to Mum and do what they can to include her in activities. I am so grateful they can take her for a walk when they can as this makes her really happy.
Thank you for your kind words. It is a pleasure to care and support your mum here at Mavern House.
