Mavern is a lovely home. When looking for somewhere for Mum, as she needed more care than we could provide for her at home, we were really worried about finding the right place.
As soon as we visited Mavern we knew we had found the right place.
All the staff are so welcoming and caring and Mavern
feels like a proper home, not an institution.
I can't praise Mavern and the staff enough, they really go out of their way to look after the elders and make their latter years as comfortable, safe and fun as they can.
My sister and I are confident Mum is in the best place.

From the moment we stepped through the front door of Mavern House we knew this was not like other care homes we had experience of. We immediately felt at ease - the home has an ambience to it more like that of a family-run hotel than a nursing home. The rooms are spacious and all the facilities are
excellent. The staff are absolutely incredible - each and every one of them seems to go above and beyond in everything they do. So thoughtful, so compassionate and all just thoroughly lovely people. Meeting the team at Mavern has been a humbling experience and has taught me some valuable life lessons and also reaffirmed my faith in humanity, to be honest.


Sadly my relative passed away at Mavern after a 2 month stay - we were at her side when the time came as were 2 members of staff who helped us through what was quite a traumatic experience - my family view the team at Mavern as friends for life after the experience we have had and would recommend it 110%!

The care, compassion, humour and all-round wonderfulness of the staff at Mavern House could not be bettered. Mum was a long term resident and over the years she and her children came to regard those who looked after her as family. Each went above and beyond to not just meet her needs but to engage with
her in a thoughtful, dignified and positive way. I will always remember Mum’s final years as being a happy and comfortable time, interspersed with laughter. Sitting in her room with everyone admiring her newly permed hair, she was like a queen! Thank you everyone.

It was such a relief when Mum got into Mavern as her brother was in there already and had been for well over a year, so we already knew what a fabulous care home it is. The staff love and treat all the elders like family and nothing is too much bother. You only have to look on their Facebook page to
see all the fun activities, games, cooking participation and when restrictions allow, events. This is a piece of mind for us as a family to know she is loving it there and is safe from harm. Mum always jokes that it's a lovely hotel with top service. They have taken the utmost care with all Covid preventative measures and as far as I know, haven't had any elder deaths as a result.

We have always heard good things said about Mavern in the past, and now we have seen it for ourselves. The kindness we have been shown in moving a client we have cared for for a long while has been such a smooth experience. The staff have been very cheerful and dedicated, who go over and above to make

We managed to move Mum to Mavern House in March 2021.


We found on our visits, that the staff were friendly and went out of their way to be helpful.
Nothing was too much trouble for them, being extremely helpful and allowing us to visit even though times were difficult with the Covid 19 restrictions.


She was contented towards the last days of her life because she was where she wanted to be and slipped away in June 2021.


The staff at this difficult time were particular understanding and could not have done more.

My mother has been a resident at Mavern House for 10 years since becoming partially paralyzed from a stroke. Throughout this time we have been exceptionally pleased by the care she has and is receiving, also in the way my mother has continually improved facilities and amenities. Particularly impressive
has been their diligence in preventing any carers of COVID-19 and the creation of a pod for comfortable and safe visiting.

My mother was a resident with end of life dementia care needs, the staff treated her with the utmost respect and dignity as if she was one of their own family members. This gave me great peace of mind!
They enabled visit’s during lockdown and even assist with communication’s via a white board which
they were willing to scrib, amazing! It seemed as if nothing was too much trouble for the staff and you can tell that they really do care.

My mother has been a resident at Mavern House since 2019. She was diagnosed with dementia and unfortunately, this meant she was unable to stay in her own home.
Since she has lived at Mavern she has made fantastic progress, managing to do things for herself, which we thought she would not be able to
do again. This is down to all of the wonderful care of all the staff, who have never given up on her and now she has a quality of life.
Every time I visit she is happy, content, not stressed or worried and you can see she is looked after. This gives me and my family great peace of mind and with this current situation, I have never worried about Mum because I know she is in the right place.

My mother became a resident of Mavern House when my father died in 2019. From my first enquiry call, the quality, friendliness, concern and sincerity of the staff was abundantly clear. The manager quickly assessed Mum as a priority and settled her nerves about a move immediately and amazingly within
less than a week my mother moved in. My mother received so much attention from day 1 from all staff, the care assistants, nurses and cleaners. There was and is always a buzz in the home, always people around. I had no fear that my mother would ever be left unattended if I wasn't there and she needed help. My mother was a fussy eater but Mavern would make her special food if requested. Birthdays and Christmas were also made special with cakes and balloons.
During lockdowns, Mavern went out of their way to keep my contact with Mum via Facetime or by standing in the garden. Sadly my mother died in November but I am comforted that she spent her last years in Mavern.

My father moved to Mavern House at the beginning of 2020 for end of life nursing care. The care and love given to him during his last few months was outstanding and made his quality of life so much better than it might have been. Sadly we lost him suddenly 4 weeks into the first lockdown in 2020 (but
not covid related). The staff made every effort to be able to let me see him, despite the restrictions.
I am so glad that Mavern House has been able to remain covid free throughout this difficult year.

Since my mother moved to Mavern House in 2016, I have been impressed every time I visit by the warmth of welcome from all staff I met, comfortably on first-name terms immediately. My mother, now 98 but often still in her eighties (!), quickly settled into a very comfortable and well-equipped room,
and carers were soon firm and long-term friends, won over by her ready sense of humour and smile. Personal care has always been so effortlessly and professionally carried out including, where possible, dental and eye care. The nurses are experienced and skilled, easy to talk with (currently by phone) and discuss mum's health. Elders' birthdays are a major feature for all residents, and the staff join in with gusto and love. "Extra-curricular" activities are so many and entertaining, and residents enjoy revisiting and demonstrating "old school" skills. The pod visits are managed with great care and efficiency, as are regular video calls set up between her and family. Superb place!

From the point of view of a son of a resident, I am always extremely grateful for the 'can do' attitude of the staff and how this filters down not just to me - facilitating visits and so on - but also to the residents. My mother has lived in Mavern House for nearly 12 years and I’ve always been so impressed by the care she has received there. Living a long way away I haven’t been able to visit her for the past year. The staff have been so good at keeping me in touch, helping her to answer the phone, sending photos,
emails etc, and they are without exception friendly and helpful. It gives me, a 70 year old grandmother, great peace of mind to know my mother, who’s nearly 99, is in such good hands through such uniquely difficult times.

As a family member of a resident at Mavern I am continually impressed by the high standard of care provided by the team and the services they offer those in their care. In these difficult times, it's such a relief to know that my grandfather is receiving care, entertainment and companionship amongst
the staff and other residents. Despite the necessary restrictions in place due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the staff at Mavern have been incredibly resourceful and helpful in setting up safe, contactless meetings via video call to allow family members and residents the chance to stay in contact and to see one another without the risk of spreading the virus. I applaud every member of the team and the work they do. I believe they are a shining example of how a nursing home should provide care and I would encourage anyone considering such services to get in touch with them.

On behalf of our family, we want to thank the entire Mavern House team/family for the loving care and attention given to my sister. From the very start, nearly 8 years ago, my sister was cared for in a compassionate and inclusive way throughout. Over these many years, we witnessed so many acts of kindness
from all of the management and team in every capacity. To say they all worked so far beyond the "call of duty" could only be described as an understatement. Sadly my sister passed away on the 4th January 2021. The outpouring of grief expressed by all of the team was, to say at least, heartbreaking. We as a family very much feel part of the Mavern family and will continue to visit covid restrictions permitting. Once again thank you, your care and love will never be forgotten

Apart from being able to visit my elderly friend (resident since October 2020) either outside, and then twice in the pod, I am in a position to say how accommodating and kind staff have been on my visits. My friend has been highly praiseworthy of her room, the staff and most of the time of the food
she has been given. It has obviously been a very difficult and stressful time for all the staff during the past year but it seems that every effort has been made to make the residents feel comfortable and secure and staff have done their best to alleviate the inevitable frustrations of periods of isolation.
During the four months that my friend has been in residence, I get the impression of excellent management and communications, friendliness and genuine care. Not having been able to visit my friend in the normal way because of Covid, my ratings will mostly be "good" but I have little doubt of extremely high quality in all respects.
