Following a decision by my wife not to pursue possible treatment for Acute Myeloid Leukemia, and having already gone through 18 months of cancer treatment, she was very frail and treatment by the NHS was stopped in favour of palliative care at Sutton Veny House.
I visited her every day and the nursing
home called me as the end was near so that I was able to spend some time with her before she passed away 9 days later on the 16th January 2026
The staff, carers, nurses and management of Sutton Veny House have been fantastic, not only in their care for my wife but also in the way they cared for me at a very traumatic time. My wife and I had known each other for almost 54 years and had been married for almost 52 years, and the final phrase of our marriage vows, "till death us do part" really hit hard as you realise that your ongoing life has changed forever.
This place is very well run, and the chef, Donna, turns out some incredible flavours, to suit the elderly.

I cannot praise the care staff and nursing staff enough for the fabulous care of my father over the past two years and the thoughtful and caring way his last few weeks were handled. Maria goes above and beyond and runs a team she should be proud of

Our mother has been at Sutton Veny House for almost 18 months. During this time the care given has been of a very high standard. The staff and manager are professional but also attentive, friendly and approachable. Any concerns are investigated and dealt with promptly and Maria always reports back any
concerns and actions taken. The medical care is excellent, with good liaison with the local GP.
Mum rates the food as good and enjoys joining other residents in the dining room. There is a beautiful large sitting room and Mum looks forward to and enjoys the activities which take place on weekdays. Natalie who runs the activities is excellent and Mum really enjoys her company.
The house and gardens are beautiful and well maintained and the standard of cleanliness is high.
Overall the staff are kind, caring and compassionate and the manager is highly dedicated, approachable and responsive.

Maria and all her staff have shown us so much kindness and care during my Dad's time with them. I cannot thank them enough. Every member of staff that we met gave us their time and support during a very difficult time and we felt that dad was receiving professional and dignified care.

The Sutton Veny Staff have been excellent at supporting our family. Not just our mum but everyone close to her. Our mum has been supported with high quality care, respect and empathy following a tricky placement at a previous home. They have enabled her to settle well and she is being cared for to the

My aunt has been in the care of Sutton Veny House since July 2022. And it really is care, of the highest degree. Maria and her staff and are not only professional but approachable, kind, caring and attentive to my aunt's needs. Her room is lovely, the whole of Sutton Veny House has the air of a home
from home. It's always a pleasure to visit. My aunt moved when her previous home changed completely and was no longer suitable. I am forever glad that happened and we found Sutton Veny House. My aunt is very happy there and loves the food. Maria always reports any concerns to me, the GP is excellent (same practice as mine so easy to keep in touch), the chiropodist and hairdresser visit regularly. Although my aunt is bedridden now she enjoys hearing the music and join in the singing at the regular musical afternoons. Thank you Maria and every member of staff for taking such good care of my beloved aunt.

My mother has been a resident here for just over a year, I find the care staff and manager very professional, caring and approachable, I visited yesterday a carer was with my mum assisting her to eat her roast dinner and pudding. The manager always keeps me informed of any concerns and calls me in a
timely manner. My mother enjoys the meals and has put on weight since shes been a resident which is brilliant as she was under weight before moving in.
There is a hair dresser and chiropodist that visit regularly.
The home is always clean, my mum is well cared for and clearly likes the staff. Overall I am very happy with Sutton Veny House.

The team at Sutton Veny House have been consistently kind, attentive, and professional throughout my mother's stay. From the carers to the manager, their approach is warm and genuinely human. The tone of calm, responsive leadership that shapes the culture of care throughout the home is clear to see.
In
what is a difficult and often undervalued job, the staff bring patience, humour, and real heart. It's evident they care not just about physical wellbeing, but emotional comfort too. My mother was treated with respect and gentleness, and I always felt she was in safe hands.
I'm grateful for the spirit and integrity with which they carry out their work.

My mother went into Sutton Veny Nursing Home for two weeks respite after being in hospital for six weeks and was too weak and frail to go back to her own home.
My mum was very apprehensive as she had never been in a care home before but the experience could not have been better for her.
The staff
were amazing, so kind and caring and they made her feel at home the moment she arrived.
The room was delightful, large and sunny with tasteful furnishings and a large well equipped bathroom.
My mum is a vegetarian and they cooked her whatever she fancied each day, nothing was too much trouble.
She joined some of the other residents for lunch in the dining room and took part in some activities in the afternoons.
I cannot recommend Sutton Veny Nursing Home enough and if my mum needs care again in the future she will be retuning there.

My Mum moved to Sutton Veny care home in September 2022. Immediately Mum said she was staying there due to the warm welcome and kindness she was given and this continued until Mum died last week. I visited Mum regularly and was always impressed with the way Mum was cared for. Always immaculate with
clothing, jewellery and hair. Simple things but it makes such a difference and makes the resident feel special. The staff without exception showed kindness and empathy to the family also with updates or concerns.
I developed a close relationship with the Manager who was professional and always looked for ways to make the home and resident feel cared for.
How can I thank them enough for what they have done for Mum? Words are not enough.
I without hesitation would recommend this home.
Thank you for caring for my beloved Mum, every single member of staff enhanced her life with the love you showed her.
Mum was happy in your care.

The staff are very caring and friendly. It's peaceful and a lovely energy within the homes and ground. Nothing was too much trouble for the manager or staff.

My brother has been a resident for five years. It is a very happy place for him. He is completely bed-bound, cannot move and has complex care needs. The nurses, care staff, cleaners, housekeepers, chefs and helpers are all marvellous. The house is clean and has flowers from the garden or florist all
year round, Easter bonfire night and Christmas are beautifully decorated and celebrated. The food is very good and there is always tea and cake for guests. The atmosphere is happy, the staff courteous, willing and helpful and above all cheerful kind friendly and gentle. He has been nursed back to health after a PEG fitted. He is happy, feels safe, secure and most importantly feels he is at home. He and his family are very grateful that he has such a lovely home. The manager is a force of nature- always cheerful, always supportive and runs a tight ship. An excellent place for my brother who I visit every day. Well done to the manager and her staff- heartfelt thanks from us all.

The treatment and care that the residents of this place receive are of high and very high standards. From body care, nutrition and soul care, all give this centre a leading place in recommending it to people who need impeccable services. The extremely nice staff and the management more than present
in all situations made me believe that my friend is receiving the best care and that this place is what everyone deserves to have when life guides you to make the decision to let go and be cared for in a specialized center.

My mother was here a few years ago and now my cousin.
The home is lovely. Very clean. Staff friendly. Good food. Management is helpful. My cousin seems happy here. I can visit all day till 8pm. The home has the feel of being well run. Good atmosphere.

My mother-in-law has been at Sutton Veny for 6 years. In that time she has been well looked after. The care and kindness she is shown by all members of staff has made her time here as easy as possible for her and for us. The home is extremely well run and this is down to the dedication of the staff.
We are always met with a warm welcome when we visit.
At 98 my mother-in-law has a big smile for the staff when they frequently pop in her room to say hello.
This is more than confirmation to us that she is happy and in good hands.
The staff are always happy to update us on Mum and keep us informed of her care. She has a lovely large bright room to spend her days in. At 98 she's not that active but the staff always make the effort to include her in activities that are going on.
We are extremely happy that Mum is here spending her twilight years under the care of Sutton Veny and its staff.
