If you had told me in January 2021 that my strong independent mum, then 96, would love her nursing home, I would have said no chance but she does. She loves Rose Cottage and all the staff. I am stunned by her transformation from how she was in February 2021 until today and that it is entirely due to
the care of the team. She had previously lost all sense of self-care, hygiene etc and we really feared for her future but is now always looking smart and well cared for and is happy. She adores the staff there and is treated very very well, as we are as her family. She loves the girls who look after her and the management and nursing team and loves the food and all the wonderful treatment she receives. I said a few months ago that everyone who works in Rose Cottage has been touched by the same gold dust and I stick to this. Any issues we have are always dealt with and there is meticulous attention to health and safety whilst taking residents' needs into consideration too.

My mother has been a resident of Rose Cottage Nursing Home for two years now and we count ourselves lucky to have found her this nursing home care! It may be a small home in numbers but I think that's positive, she gets more attention and personal care. The staff are friendly and caring. The staff work
hard as a team. We appreciate this home and are reassured mum gets well looked after.

My mother went into Rose Cottage in April 2020 due to no longer being able to care for herself. It was just as covid was at its peak so was a very worrying time. Everyone at Rose Cottage made mums move extremely calm and welcomed her with open arms. Within days, mum had settled in so well and this was
entirely down to the fantastic care given to her by all the staff. Due to covid, we are unable to visit her but I’m encouraged to ring anytime and they always cheerfully update me on her condition. Likewise, they ring me immediately if mum is not well and they have to call a doctor. I cannot praise this home enough and would recommend this care home as it’s such a lovely place and not run like a corporate business. Well done Rose Cottage.

The year of 2020 has been extremely challenging for everyone in one way or another. So my brother and I are thankful to the staff of Rose Cottage for taking such good care of our Mum. She contracted Coronavirus in April of this year at the age of 93 but fought through it very well. Mum had such good
care and attention through this worrying time and our families are grateful for the kindness of the staff. Her meals are served regularly, and she receives her medicines as prescribed. It’s due to the expertise of the administering staff why she is keeping pretty healthy, all things considered. The thing she misses most of all is visiting family in these tough times. But staff are quite happy to allow the family to ring every day and encourage the calls. Mum isn’t interested in watching the tv, or dominoes or bingo sadly. But when the staff play cd's from the past, she is in her element. She sings along to the songs and remembers the words. We would love this to happen more often.

My Mother has been a resident of Rose Cottage for three years and sadly passed away, whilst in their care recently. My family and I have nothing but the highest praise for the management and all the staff. I have found it difficult to visit, simply because I live five hours away, but whenever I have
and sometimes my visits have been unannounced, Mother has always been appropriately clean and dressed, with her hair brushed and makeup on, including nail polish applied. This, to me, shows the attention to detail and minutiae that the staff go to to ensure the welfare of the residents. The staff have always shown us the greatest kindness and their care of my Mother has been exemplary. Rose Cottage is definitely in need of some maintenance and when viewed for the first time, its external appearance may be offputting. However, for anyone considering using the service, please do not be influenced by its appearance, as the service offered here is second to none and I can’t rate it highly enough.

My mum has been a resident of Rose Cottage for eight months now.
My family and I are very pleased with the care and attention she receives here. The staff are so nice and very patient, and every aspect of care is taken to ensure she is happy and has all she needs.
We don’t think we could have found
anywhere better.
Mum is quite content here and is aware herself, of how kind the staff are.
We would recommend this nursing home without a doubt

Rose Cottage has been a lovely, safe, friendly home to my Mother who enjoyed the company of the staff and the residents. She enjoyed the cosy atmosphere of a smaller establishment. she enjoyed sitting in an area with other residents, where she could see the staff walking about doing their daily work.

Can relax knowing dad is respected and cared for in a dignified professional manner. The staff all work to together to provide for physical and mental needs. I am regularly kept up to date with his needs and staff always find time to talk to me if I have concerns.

His room is always clean and dad

is made comfortable where ever he chooses to sit in communal areas.
His dietary needs are provided for adequately.

Dad participates in most of the activities and is encouraged to do so.
Triangular care is in evidence as is safeguarding.

I am so happy I choose this home for my dad.

My father entered Rose Cottage in August 2017. He has been met with care, compassion and kindness. He is currently 102 and had been living alone since my mother passed away six years ago. It was obviously a very big decision for the family but has proved to be a good decision for Dad. He is happy
and content and joins in with the daily activities. The staff are unfailingly kind to him and very helpful to the family. An excellent care home which can be recommended.

My Mum has been a resident for over a year and is very happy at Rose Cottage, she is often complimentary of the food! My family and I have always found the management and staff to be most helpful and cheerful, which goes a long way in creating a comfortable and homely environment for residents and
welcoming for visitors. We feel relaxed and assured that our Mum is in very good hands.

Very well run nursing home, lovely atmosphere, calm, supportive, happy and nothing too much trouble.
Staff always helpful, thoughtful and friendly both to residents and visitors alike (love my cups of tea)
I'm very happy with my husband being a resident, just knowing the care is always there I can
relax.
I am always informed straight away of any medical issues and if a doctor has been called, also I am always able to discuss any concerns I may have about my husband with staff nurses.

I believe the best decision we made as a family on my Dad’s behalf was to place him in the care of Rose Cottage back in early 2014. Whilst Dad’s deteriorating health in the ensuing 3 years was obviously difficult, the care, nursing support and loving family atmosphere at Rose Cottage were key to his
motivation and aiding his very determined fight against dementia, stroke and disabilities. I know he greatly enjoyed his interactions with the staff at Rose Cottage and I will always be grateful for their help in maintaining as much quality of life for him as possible in the circumstances.

I take great comfort in the fact my Dad lived a long and good life and in his last years, never felt loneliness or uncared for. The latter was in no small part due to Rose Cottage.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.739)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.739) out of 10 for Rose Cottage Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 13 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.914 for Rose Cottage Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (138 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 151 Ratings = 4.914
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.825 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Rose Cottage Nursing Home is based on 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.825
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 21 registered maximum number of service users is 4.2, which has been reached with 13 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
