We chose Rose Cottage due to its location & intimate smaller size with dad becoming resident in 2025. In the past year I am pleased with the level of care that dad receives. Although he'd obviously still like to be living at home he now seems very happy and settled in his new home that is Rose Cottage.
The whole team are very friendly and welcoming and always greet me with a smile, a chat and the offer of a tea or coffee. Although he has mild dementia, dad has told me that he hopes that he doesn't have to leave Rose Cottage. This for me is a good indication that he feels safe and cared for and is a good reflection that life from a resident's viewpoint is as good as I perceive it to be from what I see and hear during my visits. Although we have recently been hit with a large annual increase in fees, I feel that we still receive value for money for dads care. I therefore have no hesitation in recommending Rose Cottage to anyone looking for a care home with which to entrust a love one to

We would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to all the staff at Rose Cottage for the continued care and support our mother receives as a resident.

Our mum has been living at Rose Cottage for almost a year now, and since moving in, we have noticed a real improvement in her wellbeing-she

appears more alert and engaged. It is clear she is being very well cared for, and we are grateful for the kindness, patience and dedication shown to her every day.

She particularly enjoys taking part in the activities organised by both the staff and visiting professionals, which have made a positive difference to her quality of life.

Knowing she is safe, comfortable and happy gives us great reassurance. Being at Rose Cottage truly feels like the next best thing to her being at home.

Thank you all for the wonderful work you do.

Reply from Lee Thomas, Manager at Rose Cottage Nursing HomeThank you for your kind words and appreciation. It means a great deal to our team to know that your mother is happy and well cared for. What a marvelous afternoon! Rose Cottage did a Fish & Chip themed lunch for family and residents which went down a storm with everybody. Staff worked exceptionally hard with attention to detail with decorations & atmosphere. After lunch we were entertained with a singer who played all the old time
songs that the residents love and you could clearly see the enjoyment on residence faces. It was lovely to see my Mum singing along and remembering the words to the songs and thoroughly enjoying herself. It also gave me great comfort to see her like this whilst we navigate this horrible Dementia disease. Mums needs continue to be consistently met with the wonderful care and dietary needs that she requires. Well done Rose Cottage.
Reply from Lee Thomas, Registered Manager at Rose Cottage Nursing HomeThank you, A B, for your lovely feedback. We're so pleased your mum had such an enjoyable time, those moments are truly special.
It's wonderful to hear how much she enjoyed the music and was able to sing along. Moments like these are incredibly precious, and we feel privileged to help create them. Supporting our residents and their families through the challenges of dementia is something we take very seriously, and your kind words about her care and dietary needs are greatly appreciated.
I will be sure to share your feedback with the whole team, it will mean a great deal to them.

Mum has been a resident of Rose Cottage for 6 weeks and to date we have been impressed with the quality of care made available to her. She settled in immediately and remains comfortable and contented in her own room. All instructions from the hospital have been closely followed and contact established
with a local GP surgery. The nursing and care staff are professional, attentive and kind in their interactions with Mum. The food is plentiful and nutritious. The property is kept clean and tidy and the management appear professional and organised. There is a lounge, dining room and garden where residents can gather together. Mum was able to sit outside at the first sign of sunshine recently despite her lack of mobility which was a thoughtful touch. The home keeps in regular contact with relatives either by phone or newsletter and visitors are welcome at any time.
Reply from Lee Thomas, Manager at Rose Cottage Nursing HomeThank you Janet for taking the time to share such positive feedback about your mum's experience at Rose Cottage. We are very pleased to hear that she has settled in comfortably and that you are happy with the care and support provided by our team.
Our staff are committed to delivering professional, compassionate care while ensuring residents feel safe, comfortable, and well supported in their home. Your kind comments regarding the team, the environment, and the communication with families are greatly appreciated, and we will be sure to share your feedback with everyone involved.
Thank you again for your thoughtful message and for placing your trust in us to care for your mum.

My husband was only able to enjoy the wonderful care and friendly atmosphere at Rose Cottage for a few months, sadly. But in that time he quickly settled and became part of the 'family' unit. It is difficult to express how grateful I am to all the staff who made his time there so enjoyable, comfortable
and relaxed. As someone who always loved his food, he was full of praise for the quality, and the quantity. High praise indeed from him! I will keep in touch with Rose Cottage, and do what I can in a small way, to support their valuable work.
Reply from Lee Thomas, Manager at Rose Cottage Nursing HomeThank you, Sheila , for your heartfelt and touching words. It was a true privilege to care for your husband and to have him as part of our Rose Cottage family.
We are so pleased that he felt settled, comfortable, and well cared for during his time with us. Your kind appreciation means a great deal to our entire team.

I expressed a preference for my Step-Uncle to be placed into Rose Cottage after being discharged from Hospital with end of life care needs. I was the only really local family member and his placement near to me enabled me to visit him every day. He was quite ill and bed bound so didn't get to make use
of the communal areas but I certainly spoke to some of the the other residents at times and they all seemed to be very happy there. It is a small home with a very pleasant environment and with a homely feel to it and it always felt very relaxed and welcoming. The Managers, Nurses and Carers involved in his care were really excellent and always welcomed me by my first name and treated my step-uncle with the utmost care and compassion throughout his stay. They were really good at getting him to eat and drink until his condition, as was expected, declined. He was with them for just under a month and a half in all before he passed away peacefully and he was very calm and contented there.
Reply from Lee Thomas, Registered Manager at Rose Cottage Nursing HomeThank you so much for your kind words. We're truly grateful you chose Rose Cottage for your Step-Uncle's care, and we're glad we could provide comfort and support during his final weeks. It means a lot to our team to hear that you felt welcomed and that he was calm and content. Your message has been shared with everyone involved in his care, and it really touched us all. With heartfelt thanks,The Rose Cottage Nursing Home Team

Its been just over a year now since Mum moved to Rose Cottage and she continues to blossom. Only today she is telling me how happy she is and settled in her home. The carers are so lovely and kind both to Mum and our family. Only two weeks ago with the help of staff at her home we were able to arrange
a surprise visit from her two sisters. They had not seen each other for two years. The staff were lovely and arranged everything and were as excited as I was to see Mum meet up with her sisters.
I can only keep repeating myself in saying how kind, caring and thoughtful the staff and proprietors are in Rose Cottage. Thank you so much.

My mother has been a resident of Rose Cottage for almost a year and since then her general well being and health has improved due to the care of the management and staff. They keep me well informed of any health issues and are quick to react. Residents are encouraged to eat in the communal dining room
and attend activities. The staff even send pictures of my mum enjoying the activities. My father was a resident for three years under different owners and whilst his care needs were well met and the staff caring and competent the facilities and building itself were dated. There has been considerable work, money and effort by the new owners and the home is now bright, airy and well furnished with a lovely garden area where they have hosted family BBQs. Employee turn over is low with most of the original staff there from the days my father was a resident. Rose cottage is small with 20 rooms so it has a general feeling of a family home. Our family could not be more pleased with her care.

My older brother has now gone into this home since the end of January. The home was recommended to me by a friend who is already a resident, who moved there from another Nursing home, to find it far better. The staff are very patient, interact well with the residents and make this a very 'happy' home.
There is always activities going, the meals are good and both staff & management are extremely helpfull and caring - it is like joining a new and happy family!

Rose Cottage has such a wonderful, homely atmosphere and such excellent caring staff which I highly recommend. Unfortunately, my 94 year old Aunt did not have long there but received the best care while she was. I wish she had had longer there as she was happy and that was the most important thing,
as she had spent weeks bedbound in hospital, where no one has time to spend with patients. At Rose Cottage she was treated so well, with care and kindness by all the nurses. Her nurse washed her hair which she hadn't had done for weeks which made her feel and look so much better, they cut her nails and even fed her tea to her. We had cups of tea and coffee made for my wife and I when visiting and the staff had time to talk to us about her. All in all, we wished she could have gone to Rose Cottage much sooner and been looked after so well in such a lovely atmosphere. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a home for a loved one.
Reply from Lee Thomas, Manager at Rose Cottage Nursing HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share your kind and thoughtful review of Rose Cottage. We're truly grateful for your positive feedback and recommendation. It means a great deal to us that your aunt felt happy and well-cared for during her time with us, even if it was brief. Our team always strives to create a warm and welcoming environment where residents feel at home, and we're pleased that this came through in your experience. Your comments about the care and attention your aunt received from our nurses are especially appreciated. We understand how important those personal touches are, and we're glad they made a difference to her and to you. The care my grandmother is receiving is amazing, she looks healthy, clean, happy. It was a heart wrenching decision to move her to a care home, but after many falls we realised she needed more help. The moment we walked into Rose Cottage we felt welcome, it is small and cosy, the staff are so friendly.
My grandmother is enjoying the lovely freshly cooked meals and is eating better than ever. We now have peace of mind she is safe and well looked after.

My mother has resided in Rose Cottage since January and since she arrived there her general well-being has improved a great deal due to the considerate, consistent care she receives. She is very happy to be there as a resident and has got to know the staff well - they are very friendly and treat her
almost as family, keeping her smiling.
The care and nursing staff are always professional and friendly towards visitors and they inform me very quickly if they have any concerns about Mum's health. This may be a small home compared with some in the locality but from what I've seen they offer the same range of facilities as the larger establishments and I'm sure that being relatively small makes for a more personal experience for the residents.
I greatly recommend Rose Cottage to anyone looking for a nursing home in the area.
Reply from Lee Thomas at Rose Cottage Nursing HomeThank you. We appreciate your positive feedback! It's fantastic to know that your mum is happy in our nursing home. We strive to create a welcoming atmosphere where residents feel at home and well looked after by our team at Rose Cottage Nursing Home. Your mum likes her own company, reading books and watching TV, rather than coming to the lounge and participating in any kind of activities.

My mother has been in Rose Cottage for just over a year, compared with previous homes Rose Cottage is the best one in all aspects. My mother is well looked after, her health has improved and she is more aware since she moved in. Her room is always clean and well furnished and we always get a cup of
tea on visits. The staff are very friendly and her needs are forefront in their work, nothing is too much trouble for them and they always have a smiling face and work extremely hard to keep the home in tip-top condition. Management keep us well informed on her health and well-being, always informing us on how she is keeping and are quick to react if she has a problem in health or something else. For us, we very well pleased with Rose Cottage and we wished we got her in much sooner.

I did a review of Rose Cottage a year ago and was more than happy with Mum's care at that time. I would like to add to that now, please.
Since new staff members have taken over the care has improved further. The atmosphere is light and bright and not just because of the new decor, the residents are
more alert and happy to engage with visitors and staff alike. This is also down to the increase in activities.
I visit at least twice a week and always get told how Mum is doing and given a short update on her care plan.
The home is also engaging more with the community and residents have been attending the Memory Cafe run by the Parish Council.
I do not hesitate to recommend Rose Cottage to everyone in the area.

My brother has lived at Rose Cottage for four years. He suffers from Parkinson's and early-onset Dementia. I feel great comfort that he is treated with dignity and respect. He is also encouraged to eat meals in the dining room with other residents and take part in activities, even though he doesn't
always want to. The home is always clean with a high standard of hygiene, and the food is good too.
The management and staff are always cheerful, kind, caring and friendly. The home has a low turnover of staff, resulting in my brother knowing everyone on a first-name basis.
I am contacted quickly if there are any health problems, and the doctor is called promptly as necessary.
As I live in Cornwall, I am not able to visit as often as I'd like to; however, provision is made for me to Skype with my brother at pre-arranged times, which is great as at least we can speak face-to-face.
I can recommend Rose Cottage to anyone who is looking for total peace of mind that their relatives are well cared for.

Another 12 months having passed with our Mother resident at Rose Cottage, we can honestly say this has been a trying time for the family due to ill health and age-related issues, however the staff and management at Rose Cottage have kept us informed on all matters and relayed doctor's recommendations
in detail to ensure we the family are fully aware of what is being done to look out for our mother. They have put Mum's well-being to the forefront, and have shown care and kindness towards her over and above what anyone could reasonably expect. Mum has improved albeit she has age-related issues, but she is happy, she cannot praise the staff enough, they are caring, compassionate, and extremely professional in all they do. After 2+ years of care, we would not hesitate to recommend Rose Cottage. As we said before, we cannot fault the care she receives Mum is happy at Rose Cottage and so are we. Thank you to all the staff for being so kind and caring in looking after our loved one.

Mother has been a resident now for 12 years, she's very happy there. The staff are attentive to her needs and very respectful of her dignity. They are very quick to contact me if there's something that needs attention or needs my approval. their communication is second to none. The home is very well
maintained and always clean. Mum's hygiene seems excellent. She has access to a hairdresser and chiropodist which she loves.
couldn't ask for better carers. There is a low turnover of staff so the staff really care and take great pride in their job and do a top-notch job of caring for the residents, as they know the likes and dislikes as well as all the little quirks of their residents.
