My mum moved into Goodson Lodge, late 2025. The decline in her standard of living due to Alzheimer's was a very difficult time for our family. Mum had become isolated at home and was resisting help from 'outsiders'. With heavy heart our family knew mum would need more care than we were able to provide. Choosing Goodson Lodge was the best choice we could have made for her. She is well looked after by the whole team. Everyone knows her by name and speaks to her. She regularly has a good giggle with staff members. The activities schedule is brilliant. There are usually two main activities a day, mum has joined in with almost everything. Goodson Lodge has given her a new outlook on life. There's always plenty to see and do. Mum feels useful again. With the beautiful gardens, it opens the living space for her to wander around and sit with other people. It has helped me too, I am now a daughter again, working together with the Team means mum is safe and well cared for.

Always a pleasure to visit my father. Staff are always willing to listen & spend time with us. The daily activities are varied & fun, allows him to take part with assistance due to his lack of sight. All rooms are kept very clean & tidy but welcoming when we visit. Being able to join my father for meals & enjoy the fine dining as a family is a privilege.

My mum moved into Goodson Lodge from a different care home and the change in her has been amazing. She is so happy and all the staff make sure she is well looked after and cared for, she now joins in with activities and even goes to the dining room. The staff also makes sure that I am ok. And there is always someone you can talk to or just make a cuppa. It is reassuring that when we leave her she is in a safe, happy & cared environment which helps us as a family. So grateful for everyone at Goodson Lodge your all fabulous.

My dad has stayed at Goodson Lodge for 3 respite stays now and we are currently organising the forth.

Everyone at the home is so friendly and helpful and I know my Dad is very well looked after when he is there.

The rooms, communal areas and gardens are all lovely and well maintained and there are plenty of activities for Dad to take part in if he wants to.

Dad really enjoys his time at Goodson Lodge and looks forward to his time there.

Any queries are quickly dealt with and the team have been great at managing Dad's fussy eating, ensuring there is always something he likes available - it really is very reassuring to know he is so well looked after.

Initialy we felt Goodson Lodge was exellent, as time passed there were a few things we felt could be improved. At times checking in on the patient more frequently would have been helpful, particularly with bed bound patients. I feel on a whole, the staff were obliging and always polite. Our whole experience reflected GL need more staff on each floor. Then GL would be an exellent place to stay.

We knew immediately that this was the place for mum. Everyone was friendly from the very first visit, and this has continued. We particularly like that the rooms for those with dementia are on the ground floor, giving ready access to lounges and the lovely gardens. The care team seem to really know the residents and are good at maintaining communication/ The management team have been helpful with ongoing admin and financial arrangements. Everyone contributes to create a homely atmosphere.

My mother spent a week of Respite care at Goodson Lodge. She had been rather poorly before she went in and I was amazed how much better she looked after only 2 days! All of the staff were very friendly and made her feel special, and her care was adapted to suit her abilities. She ate well and took part in many of the daily and diverse activities, enjoying the social aspect of the home. The family had to fit our visits in to when she wasn't busy! She is already planning on going back for another 'holiday', possibly for longer.

Sadly I cannot recommend this care home. My mother's basic needs were often not met. I have made numerous complaints both to the care home, the trust, care quality commission etc. daily carers are very good. Night time staff and managers are definitely not good. My mother passed away in the home and an inquest is being held due to a fall shortly before her death. Quite frankly they must do better! Those who cared for mum during the day were compassionate and caring. Managers pretty clueless as were some care leads and overnight staff.

My mother has been a resident of this lovely care home for 16 months. The carers are wonderful & I'm delighted with the level of care she receives. She enjoys many of the activities laid on, especially animal visits & anything musical. The menus are varied and tasty. Everything is kept clean. The decor throughout the building is very pleasing & the garden pretty & well-kept. Her 91st birthday was celebrated with a cake & gifts. Knowing she is safe & so well-cared for gives me peace of mind every day.

I am an attorney for two wonderful residents of Goodson Lodge. They were both struggling to live independantly and chose to move to Goodson Lodge. The staff are warm and friendly and my clients who I was very fond of, both benefitted hugely from living with such a caring community. There was plenty to do and it provided them with somewhere that would look after them physically and emotionally. Previously the husband had been caring for his wife who had dementia and his health had begun to suffer as a result. Goodson Lodge was able to care for them both despite their very different needs and enable them to remain together as they had been for almost all their lives. I would recommend Goodson Lodge. Unfortunately they have both passed away but staff members attended their funerals even though it was not work time which shows the staff's devotion to their residents.

I was so impressed with the home when I visited to source a short respite stay for my dad and the actual experience far exceeded my expectations. I cannot fault how much one member of staff does to ensure his stay was a success. It took dad a while to settle and was quite anxious and confused with his dementia but the level of care and especially the night staff was exemplary in making him feel at home. He loved the food and the person with his never ending but relevant activities - which mum even enjoyed when she came to visit him. We will most definitely use the services of this home again in the future and recommend to anyone.

Both my parents suffered from Alzheimer's and my mother was physically very frail. With a heavy heart and much guilt my siblings and I took the decision to move them into Goodson Lodge in 2023 when they were in their late 80's. It was the best thing we could have done. Having become very isolated in their own home they had a better social life at Goodson than they'd had for years, both taking part in the musical activities, and enjoying chat and banter with the staff throughout the day. Previously it was a struggle to get a GP appointment but at Goodson the same GP visited weekly and got to know them both. They constantly praised the staff, the rooms, the furniture and the gardens. Having them so happy and well cared for was a massive weight off my and my siblings' shoulders, and we were able to enjoy our visits with them rather than fearing what would we would find when we walked in the door. We are so grateful for the care they received from the Goodson staff in their final year.

My mum moved into Goodson Lodge in October 2024. All the staff are amazing and it's very reassuring that many of the staff are the same staff who looked after an elderly friend from June 2021 to November 2022. Everyone is accommodating, helpful and very welcoming. Mum enjoys all her meals and participates in all the activities. She has made some new friends and is never alone. There is always someone to talk to and be with, she's not lonely anymore since moving into Goodson Lodge. My brother and I have peace of mind that mum is cared for, safe, warm and content in a beautiful care home with compassionate staff.

I can't praise the management and care team at Goodson Lodge highly enough. The home has such a lovely inviting feel and everyone goes out of their way to make the residents and families feel welcome. The transformation in Mum since she moved in approx. 4 weeks ago has been incredible. The staff and management took great care in making sure things were in place when Mum arrived, and it didn't take long before she settled which was such a relief. We now have peace of mind that she is safe and happy and being cared for really well. Goodson is a beautiful space, with lots going on and the fact that we can drop in and out, and join in with the many activities whenever suits us is great. Highly recommended.

My mum and dad moved into Goodson Lodge 18 months ago. They are set up with a shared bedroom - Goodson Lodge team were very helpful and flexible, enabling a second room to be set up as a 'sitting room' with many pieces of their own furniture, ornaments, pictures etc. - these were essential requirements for a couple who have been married for 66 years!
The staff are very friendly, providing a high standard of personal care. The premises are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness. Communication with next-of-kin is excellent, always responding positively to questions or requests. There is a wide and varied activities programme to meet the needs and interests of all residents, including many events in which family and friends can participate.
Possible areas for improvement:
- Induction process on day 1 and in early weeks
- A few other aspects

Happy to discuss this further with the management team.
