I have friends in this care home and as soon as I enter the building I feel welcome. If I feel like this, our friends who live there most certainly do. The staff smile and nothing is too much trouble for them and importantly, they treat the residents with respect.

My wife has had a five-week stay of respite care at Goodson Lodge and has been very happy. We would like her to stay and become a permanent resident, so having visited a number of other homes we have not found anything to compare with Goodson Lodge. Unfortunately, it seems that care is not available when funds run out and state assistance is needed.

I cannot praise Goodson Lodge highly enough. The care and support that Mum received from the staff at Goodson Lodge has been nothing short of outstanding.
Mum lived at Goodson Lodge for six months, following her diagnosis of Alzheimer’s. It was the best decision we made. We looked at five care homes but as soon as I walked through the doors of Goodson Lodge, I just knew it was the right place to call home. I will never regret that decision.

Mum’s last month was incredibly challenging but nothing was too much trouble for staff. Even at her most vocal, OSJT staff continued to show the highest levels of care, with the added bonus of much humour. At the end, they did everything in their power to ensure that Mum died peacefully, in comfort, surrounded by people she knew.

Feeling raw from the recent loss of Mum, I also miss the love, compassion and humour of the staff at Goodson Lodge. They have a very special ethos and exceptional, caring staff.

Goodson Lodge is the best care centre I've sever seen. My Mother has settled in extremely well as the staff are all friendly and happy, which in turn makes her happy. She told me that she can't fault anything, plenty of food, spotlessly clean, twice daily activities, lovely gardens and regular organised outings. She is treated with respect at all times and the nursing staff are quick to report of any changes or worries they may have about her. Doctors and medical staff from the health centre liaise very well. Family visitors are welcome anytime and are treated as part of the Goodson Lodge "Family". I'm very pleased to have found such a lovely place.

I can thoroughly recommend this home from the first phone call of enquiry to arrange urgent respite care for my mother, all the teams of staff have been very welcoming and helpful, which has helped to improve my mother's confidence and stability to walk around the clean, bright home. It has excellent facilities, lovely gardens, a good choice of food and a good programme of activities. A good find and at a reasonable price.

My next of kin found the transition from home to care home for respite difficult. She stayed for 12 days and by the end of the stay, she was beginning to relax.
My review is based on my views more than her's.

Thank you for taking care of her. I hope we will be back.

I cannot fault the standard of care at Goodson Lodge. The staff do their best to meet the individual needs of each resident, adapting their approach to make the individual feel as safe and comfortable as possible. My mother has dementia, but she frequently comments she is not talked down to or made to feel like she is being told what to do. She is encouraged to do as much as she is able to, or wants to do, in respect of her personal needs. She knows she can always ask for assistance. There is a lovely relaxed homely feel, with no imposed regimes. The building itself is clean, bright and looks more like a hotel than a care facility. There are regular activities and opportunities to socialise for those who wish to.

My mother has lived at Goodson Lodge since November 2018. Overall I am very happy with the care she receives. She has settled as well as I could have hoped for and I have peace of mind that she is safe for 24 hours a day. Staff at Goodson Lodge are caring and respectful to residents. The home environment is bright and clean with a lovely garden.

The staff were so caring, kind and considerate during my mother's stay. This was for two periods of respite care, separated by 10 days, during which time my mother had a minor fall. The care centre is an incredible facility, purpose built and planned with so much forethought and experience of the role of the building in assisting care provision. Mum loved her stay and my sister and I are reassured that specialist care can be provided away from home by The Orders of St John.

From the first visit to see if the home was suitable for my father moving in, it was a positive experience. My father is very happy, stimulated and very content so we are very pleased we chose this home. The design of the home and staff are excellent.

Our father was very happy in Goodson Lodge. He thought the carers were 'marvellous'. He enjoyed the company of the other residents. From a reclusive person in the previous home, he embraced and participated in activities and outings. For the short time he spent there he was able to 'live' again. Some very good memories.

This care centre is amazing. My mum settled very quickly coming from her own home. She is well looked after whilst still maintaining a degree of independence. There are lots of little touches which are ideal for dementia.

The food is home cooked and excellent.

My mother has been living at the care home for nearly 3 months now. The home has a good feeling, being welcoming, light and spacious. The home was only opened in 2017, hence is still being gradually filled. The management and staff are efficient and experienced. The food is excellent. The recent families meeting I attended was positive and staff do appear to listen and positively respond, particularly as the new home and residents settle in. The home is higher than average cost but it is new and to a high standard. Overall and given my experience of relatives in several other homes previously, I am very pleased so far.
