My mother has settled very well at Goodson Lodge. The carers are always friendly and cheerful and treat residents with dignity. There are plenty of activities for residents covering a wide range of interests. The rooms are clean and welcoming and there is always plenty of food. Care is tailored to the needs of individual residents. I would highly recommend Goodson Lodge.

We had a review meeting with the Deputy Manager - very successful and pleased with the discussions. She listened to everything that we said, responded well and made suggestions as necessary in response to a couple of queries.

My mum has lived at Goodson for 18+ months and continues to say she is happy to be there. I have found that her wishes are respected on a daily basis. Her care needs, on a daily basis, are given with great kindness and consideration. The staff are always cheerful and encouraging. Although energy levels do not always allow my mum to participate in activities she says it’s nice to know they are there. As a family to join family events organised always brings fun and a chance for togetherness. Access to the home has improved over the past weeks.

My aunt has been a resident of Goodson Lodge for 4+ years and has a lovely ensuite room with a view of the garden and children playing at the school. She was in the home during Covid and although we could not initially visit, the staff made sure that we kept in touch. Once lockdown rules relaxed we were able to visit her in a separate room with testing, hygiene measures and masks in place. The staff are kind and caring and always have the resident's welfare in mind. Calling for medical attention when necessary and keeping next of kin informed. She used to enjoy joining in the various trips and activities but unfortunately, at 96, doesn't now feel well enough, having been in hospital recently where she became quite confused. Fortunately, she is now settled back in her room and happy to be in familiar surroundings with people that she knows. Grateful thanks to all at Goodson Lodge.

I have found the staff at Goodson Lodge welcoming, approachable and helpful. My mother is well cared for and much safer than she was in her own home. The staff have accompanied her on necessary trips to hospital and arranged for opticians and doctors to see her in the home when required. I would not hesitate to recommend this home to others.

Staff are supportive, caring and friendly. Mum is warm, well fed and safe - the environment is modern and welcoming - lots of natural light which makes a difference to Mum. Activities help her interact with other residents and us as family. Well done!

Our Mother came into Goodson Lodge at the beginning of the 2nd lockdown. A shaky start where we couldn't visit but the staff were amazing and kept us informed/sent photos. Now we are able to visit freely, we can see how dedicated and caring the staff are for ourselves. A beautiful care home, with home being the operative word. The staff are supportive, friendly and approachable.

A lovely room with an ensuite, which means Mum's dignity is kept when she needs bathroom assistance. I wouldn't want her to go anywhere else. Thank you, Goodson Lodge.

It doesn't matter how beautiful the facility is, it is the care that counts. The kindness, compassion and care afforded to our mother by the staff at Goodson Lodge is outstanding. All the staff go that extra mile to give person centred care to each and every resident. The purpose built building itself is wonderful, and always immaculately clean and fresh. The food excellent. I just hope that one day carers nationwide will be recognised for the outstanding work they do. Thank you all, from the cleaners and cooks to the wonderful receptionists and admin staff, to the activity co-ordinators, and to all the truly amazing carers at Goodson Lodge-we thank you.

I can not think highly enough of the staff and care mom received whilst she was in Goodson Lodge. The carers were kind, considerate and loving. They looked after myself and other family members after mom passed away with equal love and care. As a family, we can not speak highly enough, all care will be measured against Goodson Lodge.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Mum has been a resident for well over 4 years now and her dementia has steadily deteriorated. The staff are very caring to both Mum and me, which we as a family really appreciate. You can tell that the carers have a deep understanding of Mum's situation and show huge patience and care. I'm frequently telling people I meet how good the home is and we as a family have peace of mind knowing Mum is in safe hands. Being a charity, the emphasis is on care, not money, as it should be. If Mum is upset but can't explain, great effort goes into finding and resolving problems, whether that's her health or social well-being. Thank you so much, Goodson!

Mum has been at Goodson Lodge Care Centre for 8 months and we as a family couldn’t be more delighted with it. The home itself is so well designed, with hairdressers, garden lounge, cafe and cinema and fabulous gardens. There is always a warm welcome on arrival. She receives very attentive care, the staff go that extra mile for every individual making them feel special and loved. The medical attention to detail is very impressive and small changes have made such a difference to my mum’s health. The home is spotlessly clean and always updated and maintained in all areas. When my mum moved in after many traumas she was disorientated and agitated, since being in Goodson Lodge she is like a new woman! The wonderful care she has received and the stimulation from the activities team have given her a new interest in life. She joins in many of the amazing activities that Goodson Lodge organises all week long, even at weekends! I couldn’t recommend the home more highly. Thank you to all

Goodson Lodge is the kind of very special residential care home you would like to reserve a place at for your own later years! The high standards of the accommodation are matched and even exceeded by the staff, the management and the attention to detail.
Beautiful accommodation, akin to a hotel and every amenity including en-suites, cinema, memory shop, coffee shop and a stunning garden.
After a stressful few months, the staff at Goodson have made things so much easier and I know my mother is in safe hands. We are looking forward to my father joining her very soon.
I cannot fault the communication and the support which have been incredible. When you are placing your relative into a residential home, the care is just one facet of it as the family are the ones who need a guiding hand and Goodson Lodge has certainly given me reason to breathe a sigh of relief.

Highly recommended!

My mum had advanced dementia and a series of events last autumn meant we had to move her into a care home at short notice. It was clear from our first visit that Goodson is devoted to its mission, rather than to profit, and that the home has been designed throughout with the needs of its residents in mind. The staff did everything they could to expedite her admission, to provide my father and me with everything we needed and to make her comfortable and cared for during what turned out to be her last few weeks with us. After a few years of trying to manage on our own, knowing that she was in the best of hands and that we had the support we needed was a huge comfort. The peace of mind that Goodson granted us, during a difficult time, is something that will stay with me for a long time.

Managing and going through the situation of your mother with worsening dementia, living on her own, convinced she is fine and dandy, is so hard to deal and live with. The emotional impact for one and all is enormous as you only want your loved one to be safe and looked after. We tried continual daycare visits to the home, but this really was in no way sufficient.
We finally found Goodson Lodge, after significant research, and can say yes the transition for your loved one is difficult, very difficult for them, as they do not understand what is going on or why. But time means things do get much better, the care, help and support is superb. The fact that the residents are kept actively occupied, busy, entertained, treated as individuals, fed and watered means they have much more meaning to their lives than not coping (even if they think they are) at home on their own.

The peace of mind and security knowing they are safe is so important. Thank you!

My Dad has been in Goodson for just over 3 years and can't rate staff and care highly enough, which has been ever more important during Covid, when the team at Goodson have become pretty much Dad's primary family - I don't know where I'd be without them. Considering both before and during Covid activities and food are great; Skype contact brilliant and much better now with room visits. Also, little things like a random trip to little Tesco for a few bits or making sure the cricket is on TV are small in themselves but make such a difference. Thanks to all, and looking forward to 'normal' visiting again!

My mum fell 4 months ago and was unable to return home from hospital due to additional care needs. Arranging care at short notice during covid was a challenge but the Customer Relationship Manager at Goodson was very supportive throughout the process. Advanced dementia and hospital are not a match I’d recommend. My mum deteriorated rapidly during those 3 weeks before transferring. Settling, therefore, took some time but the staff were attentive and caring. Over the past few weeks, my mum is a lot happier and healthier. Good to see when we visit! Overall we are very happy.
