We have been more than happy with the support and care that my mum has received at Goodson Lodge. Staff all lovely. Will contact me if they need to. My mum is very happy there and tells us when we visit her. Now we can go and visit, we are all made very welcome. My children love going in to visit, and it is always a really happy experience, and my mum's happy and settled.

Goodson Lodge is the kind of very special residential care home you would like to reserve a place at for your own later years! The high standards of the accommodation are matched and even exceeded by the staff, the management and the attention to detail.
Beautiful accommodation, akin to a hotel and every amenity including en-suites, cinema, memory shop, coffee shop and a stunning garden.
After a stressful few months, the staff at Goodson have made things so much easier and I know my mother is in safe hands. We are looking forward to my father joining her very soon.
I cannot fault the communication and the support which have been incredible. When you are placing your relative into a residential home, the care is just one facet of it as the family are the ones who need a guiding hand and Goodson Lodge has certainly given me reason to breathe a sigh of relief.

Highly recommended!

My mum had advanced dementia and a series of events last autumn meant we had to move her into a care home at short notice. It was clear from our first visit that Goodson is devoted to its mission, rather than to profit, and that the home has been designed throughout with the needs of its residents in mind. The staff did everything they could to expedite her admission, to provide my father and me with everything we needed and to make her comfortable and cared for during what turned out to be her last few weeks with us. After a few years of trying to manage on our own, knowing that she was in the best of hands and that we had the support we needed was a huge comfort. The peace of mind that Goodson granted us, during a difficult time, is something that will stay with me for a long time.

Managing and going through the situation of your mother with worsening dementia, living on her own, convinced she is fine and dandy, is so hard to deal and live with. The emotional impact for one and all is enormous as you only want your loved one to be safe and looked after. We tried continual daycare visits to the home, but this really was in no way sufficient.
We finally found Goodson Lodge, after significant research, and can say yes the transition for your loved one is difficult, very difficult for them, as they do not understand what is going on or why. But time means things do get much better, the care, help and support is superb. The fact that the residents are kept actively occupied, busy, entertained, treated as individuals, fed and watered means they have much more meaning to their lives than not coping (even if they think they are) at home on their own.

The peace of mind and security knowing they are safe is so important. Thank you!

My Dad has been in Goodson for just over 3 years and can't rate staff and care highly enough, which has been ever more important during Covid, when the team at Goodson have become pretty much Dad's primary family - I don't know where I'd be without them. Considering both before and during Covid activities and food are great; Skype contact brilliant and much better now with room visits. Also, little things like a random trip to little Tesco for a few bits or making sure the cricket is on TV are small in themselves but make such a difference. Thanks to all, and looking forward to 'normal' visiting again!

My mum fell 4 months ago and was unable to return home from hospital due to additional care needs. Arranging care at short notice during covid was a challenge but the Customer Relationship Manager at Goodson was very supportive throughout the process. Advanced dementia and hospital are not a match I’d recommend. My mum deteriorated rapidly during those 3 weeks before transferring. Settling, therefore, took some time but the staff were attentive and caring. Over the past few weeks, my mum is a lot happier and healthier. Good to see when we visit! Overall we are very happy.

Goodson Lodge helped us at a difficult time. For their calm and highly professional approach, we will always be grateful. My sister was very well cared for during her respite stay. In more normal times she could have joined in the range of social activities. Modern facilities with kind and sympathetic people. Highly recommend.

Mum has been a resident for six weeks now. Ever since the day she arrived, Goodson Lodge staff have been very helpful with the transition to the home. My mum's so happy to have company with the other residents. Due to covid regs, the staff are so friendly and happy to talk to me under difficult circumstances about Mum. Thank you, Goodson, for taking great care of my mum.

My Mother moved into Goodson Lodge 3 weeks before the lockdown, so I was just getting to know the staff and the home when all visits were cancelled. This was a very difficult time for me and Mum, but I had gained enough knowledge of the professionalism of the staff, and the care they gave Mum to know I was leaving her in good hands, and she would receive the care she needed.
This has proved to be the case. Goodson has provided virtual visits by Skype, by phone, and when restrictions eased, at a distance outside, and now in a designated room. Mum despite her increasing Dementia is happy and settled and tells me frequently how kind everyone is.
The one frustration I have is there is only one phone number, it would be useful to call directly to the household.

I would like to say thank you to all the staff for the love and care they give.

My father was very doubtful about the prospect of entering a care home but the majority of his preconceptions were blown away and he is happy to call it his home from home, his Shangri-La. At the heart of Goodson Lodge are the staff, who are kind, personable and thoughtful, and provide the appropriate level of care for each resident. If you want to join in, there are plenty of clubs and activities from growing tomatoes to trips out to see the Concorde Museum. If you prefer to stay in, that is fine too, as the rooms are well-appointed and the carers are always willing to devote meaningful one-to-one time to ensure you don't feel lonely. The food is good and there is a plentiful supply of tea, coffee, cake and biscuits throughout the day.

During the pandemic the Lodge have been proactive and careful, thinking about the residents first, whilst making every effort to maintain contact with relatives via Skype or socially-distanced visits. I have no hesitation in recommending them.

Goodson Lodge staff have been exceptional in the support of my mother, they have been professional, helpful and caring. The home is bright, clean and offers a relaxed living environment for the residents.
We can't thank the staff enough for how they helped my mother and my family.

During Covid, we have still managed to see her in the gazebo and staff have helped her use her tablet to set up FaceTime sessions with the family which has been greatly appreciated by all. Thank you, Goodson Lodge.

Before covid, I regularly visited my mother in the home. It was beautifully kept, the rooms are very pleasant, the food was good, activities varied and fun, and the staff are very friendly and caring. During covid, I have been able to continue to visit for 1/2 hour at a time in the gazebo outside. This has been valuable for us both and made a big difference to my mother.

A very good care home, who keeps us well informed of our two friends. The management and all staff are first class, well mannered, with smiles every time who are most helpful with any problems when they occur.

It is most reassuring to us, that they are both being looked after very well. Thank you.
