Although mom didn't like being in a care home (whichever one she was in) I felt comfortable with her being there. She was well looked after and the staff were lovely and attentive to her. From what I observed, mom was treated with dignity and respect. Her room was spacious and she was able to have her own tv and personal effects with her. The only negative was no ensuite facilities. Mom was encouraged to spend her days in the day lounge with other residents and she did make some new friends. Mom was not mobile so relied on staff to move her around, but they were always available for her when she needed them. I wasn't able to visit more than once a week, but when I did visit, there did seem to be social activities, and the staff also interacted with the residents. Thanks for taking care of my mom. It's not easy getting old when you have to rely on others for support but you made her as comfortable as you could.

Stepmother was in for respite after being very ill in hospital. She was very stressed and disoriented when she arrived but within a couple of days was settled and very happy. She liked the company and all the staff were wonderful to her she wanted to stay.

I had to beg for my bed to be made each morning.

Food is good - the gluten-free provision is excellent.

Sheets are not white - laundry is questionable.

Showers were not good - flooded floors and assistance was hit and miss.

Certain assistants were excellent, others awful.

The staff at Perry Locks have been so supportive, helpful and very tentative to my mother's needs. She has had a skin condition all her life and since going into Perry Locks it has looked the best it has in years, we are so pleased she's getting great care and attention. Many thanks to all the team!

The overall standard is very good, quality of food is good and nicely prepared.

More activities for dementia patients could be provided as with my father, he isn't able to join in most activities. I would say activities for the abler is excellent.

All facilities were new and the room for my father was good. The staff were friendly and polite but seemed to be under pressure. Communication between the nursing home and myself was not brilliant and on 2 (maybe 3) occasions staff said they would ring me back, but didn't. I was informed promptly, however, concerning my father's visits from Perry Locks to the hospital to sort out chest infections.

Reply from Clare Sheehan, Careline Advisor at Perry Locks Care Home

Mom has been at Perry Locks for 30 months. The Bungalow has a homely, friendly atmosphere. All residents are treated as individuals and staff are knowledgeable of their personal behaviours, moods and individual needs. Staff are friendly and communicate to visitors. Personally, have good peace of mind showing that Mom is well cared for when I am not there.

I found Perry Locks a very good care home, very friendly.

My only concern was although mum is not very mobile her mental state is very good and it appeared most of the residents had dementia so she found that very difficult.

My husband, who suffers multi-infarct dementia, has been resident at Perry Locks since May 2016. Although able to walk when he went in, he was soon off his feet and now has to be lifted from bed to chair etc. Staff are always very kind to him and he is kept clean, tidy and shaved. He now tends to eat with his fingers and often I question the type of food given to him. Also, size of puddings and other foods. There is a lack of staff to help all residents.
