Reviews

9.4 The Royal Star & Garter Home - Solihull has a Review Score of 9.4 (9.444)

The Review Score of 9.4 (maximum of 10) for The Royal Star & Garter Home - Solihull is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 6 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for The Royal Star & Garter Home - Solihull in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.944 for The Royal Star & Garter Home - Solihull is calculated as follows: ( (68 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.944

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Royal Star & Garter Home - Solihull is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 12 positive Reviews (60 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 6 Reviews ÷ 12 Target = 0.500

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Staff were extremely welcoming of Mum and ourselves. Both day and night staff were skilful and kind to a very high degree.
Nursing staff were particularly thoughtful regarding Mum's individual needs and maintained a happy and positive atmosphere.
The standard of the living environment inside and outside was extremely high.
We are very grateful and cannot speak highly enough of the care that was extended to both Mum and ourselves as a family.

It is very difficult to compare The Royal Star & Garter with other homes as it is so obviously outstanding - this is obviously so in the dementia wing, where my wife has been a resident for six years.
My daughter and I are so glad that we were able to obtain a place for her, taking into account my military service.
It is such a relief to know that she is so well looked after when I became unable to cope by myself.

I looked at many homes until I found The Royal Star & Garter Home. It is by far better than any others I looked at.
From the facilities, activities to the amazing staff - The Royal Star & Garter exceeded our expectations.
My father has been there 18 months mow and is extremely well cared for.
The staff are wonderful and so kind and caring.
My father moved to the dementia wing a few months ago as his dementia progressed.
It is comforting knowing he didn't have to move homes and that the dementia team are so well trained.

My father was in this home in 2013 and my mother in law is currently here.
This home is so different to any care home I have ever been in, the residents are treated with such respect, love and dignity by very dedicated people.
The residents are really well looked after and seem very happy, which is so important. The home is extremely clean and well maintained and they provide stimulating Dementia care in the specialist Dementia unit which has won them an award.

I have visited many care homes in the West Midlands area and in every aspect, this home far exceeds everything that any other care home could differ. My wife has been a resident here over three years, both my family and friends all state how fortunate we are for her to be in such an excellent home.

My husband living with advanced vascular dementia has been resident at The Royal Star & Garter Home for over two and a half years. Throughout that time he has been professionally cared for with great insight, understanding, warmth and humour. His emotional well being and contentment have always been the top priority of his care plan, although of course his physical needs have also been carefully addressed. Family and other visitors have always been welcomed so we and staff all work together as an extended family team.
