The care here is consistently fabulous. My father has severe Alzheimer's been here for just short of 2 years and throughout he has been lovingly cared for - and we also feel supported and cared for when we find it tough. Dad has been settled and content from very early on and his challenges are managed
intelligently, thoughtfully and reflect his changing condition.
The events are varied and inclusive and residents are included and it is evident that the who team at the home understand and believe in the idea of residents doing as much as they are able as long as they are able. Dignity and respect are key too.

My dad has now been living at the Royal Star and Garter for a year and is finding it a wonderful home. The friendly staff very much treat the residents with respect and as individuals, helping my dad develop physically, emotionally and socially. Just as importantly, he considers it his home and feels
safe and happy. There are frequent trips out, the food is lovely and they offer a wide range of activities if he wishes to participate. It is a happy and friendly home where the care is wonderful. It gives one hope for the future..

My Mom has been going to the Royal Star & garter since September 2023 first to the day care then she became a resident there in May 2024. All the staff are wonderful Caring & dedicated.
They make you feel very welcome its like one big family. My Mom loves it there she is very happy.
It gives
me peace of mind to know she is being well looked after. They take her out on the mini bus to great places & provide a full entertainment programme every month.
The food is great and I often go and eat with my Mom in the restaurant. The restaurant manager is fantastic & go's above and beyond to make the restaurant look lovely. The attention to detail with the themed decorations is Fantastic.
The staff are always happy and friendly. The home is very clean and tidy.

My mother went into residential care some 18 months ago. She settled very quickly thanks to the wonderful staff team on her wing in Roundel. She has dementia so is unable to ask specifically for anything. The staff soon got to know her well and regularly checked with us regarding her usual routine,
likes and dislikes. She always looks lovely, her appearance was always very important to her and she was always well dressed. The staff have maintained her very high standards and always set her hair and apply her makeup beautifully. She regularly has her nails painted too. Mum always has a smile for the staff who make her feel special. She eats well and the staff take care to show the residents the meals available allowing them to visually make their choice and mix and match according to their preferences. Regular outings are arranged and an excellent well being and entertainment programme is provided. The standard of cleanliness, food and care is second to none.

The team at The Royal Star and Garter go 'above and beyond' to make residents and their extended circle of friends and family feel welcome and a special part of their care family. Everyone is greeted with a smile and treated courteously.

The highly skilled team care for residents with compassion and

a 'nothing is too much bother' attitude. The staff know their residents well and tailor activities to meet their emotional and physical needs.

My Mum enjoys her respite stays at The Royal Star and Garter. It is always a pleasure to visit. I would highly recommend this home to anyone looking for high quality care for their loved ones.

Our mom has lived at the Royal Star & Garter since May 2024. All the staff take such great care of her needs, she goes out on trips, they do lovely meals, and they even gave her a separate table so she can eat her meals alone. We booked a private lunch for her 90th birthday, everything was laid out
beautifully & the food was excellent. She was chosen to attend the 80th Anniversary VE Day in May & meet the King and Queen. It truly is a wonderful place and so much better than our Mom living alone and sad.

I have visited many services in my time as an independent advocate and have never been taken back in awe like I have with Royal Star & Garter - Solihull. After speaking with the clients at the service and from what I have seen for myself here, Royal Star & Garter have created an incredible home with

The staff have always been friendly, helpful and compassionate. The food is brilliant and the variety is very good. The home is very clean and spacious. My Mother moved into RS&G Solihull in early 2024, during her time here I have been delighted with the care she has received. I have observed the kindness and commitment of the various staff members who have looked after her; They know and treat her as a valuable individual, they all know what she needs
and deal with her cheerfully and professionally. She does physio, exercises, and movement to music classes, so gets stimulation and support. The food is very good, the room ad corridors are very clean. The home is expensive, but management was able to apply for and obtain available government support. Overall I could not be happier.

Mom started to attend daycare once a week after she developed dementia. She so enjoyed it. When she became ill and went into hospital, we knew she wouldn't be able to go back home and live independently. It is a difficult decision to make but has been the right one for all of us. Mom is so happy, relaxed
and well cared for. The staff are really friendly, caring and professional. The meals are delicious. Mom is eating much better, and we book in to enjoy lunch with her. It's spotlessly clean with excellent facilities. Mom enjoys all the activities and has regained her confidence.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.899)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.899) out of 10 for Royal Star & Garter - Solihull is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 25 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.899 for Royal Star & Garter - Solihull is calculated as follows: ( (269 Excellents x 5) + (28 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 298 Ratings = 4.899
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Royal Star & Garter - Solihull is based on 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 25 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2024

I qualified as an adult nurse in 2013 and specialised in Cardiology and High Dependency care at Solihull Hospital. I then went on to manage a local care home for three years before I had the pleasure of joining Star & Garter – Solihull, in June 2024.

I am extremely passionate about leading the team to provide gold-standard care for our residents, enabling them to provide person-centred, individualised care. I have a special interest in diversity and inclusion and keep up to date with the most recent research to support both the residents and staff. I have an excellent relationship with the local community, including adult health and social care, churches and schools to widen the access to and delivery of multiple well-being activities for the Home.
