It is very difficult to compare The Royal Star & Garter with other homes as it is so obviously outstanding - this is obviously so in the dementia wing, where my wife has been a resident for six years.
My daughter and I are so glad that we were able to obtain a place for her, taking into account my
military service.
It is such a relief to know that she is so well looked after when I became unable to cope by myself.

My father was in this home in 2013 and my mother in law is currently here.
This home is so different to any care home I have ever been in, the residents are treated with such respect, love and dignity by very dedicated people.
The residents are really well looked after and seem very happy, which
is so important. The home is extremely clean and well maintained and they provide stimulating Dementia care in the specialist Dementia unit which has won them an award.

I have visited many care homes in the West Midlands area and in every aspect, this home far exceeds everything that any other care home could differ. My wife has been a resident here over three years, both my family and friends all state how fortunate we are for her to be in such an excellent home.

My husband living with advanced vascular dementia has been resident at The Royal Star & Garter Home for over two and a half years. Throughout that time he has been professionally cared for with great insight, understanding, warmth and humour. His emotional well being and contentment have always been
the top priority of his care plan, although of course his physical needs have also been carefully addressed. Family and other visitors have always been welcomed so we and staff all work together as an extended family team.

Katie McCauley

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2024

I qualified as an adult nurse in 2013 and specialised in Cardiology and High Dependency care at Solihull Hospital. I then went on to manage a local care home for three years before I had the pleasure of joining Star & Garter – Solihull, in June 2024.


I am extremely passionate about leading the team to provide gold-standard care for our residents, enabling them to provide person-centred, individualised care. I have a special interest in diversity and inclusion and keep up to date with the most recent research to support both the residents and staff. I have an excellent relationship with the local community, including adult health and social care, churches and schools to widen the access to and delivery of multiple well-being activities for the Home.
