My husband has been a resident for the past five years. Over that period both his mental and physical state has deteriorated. The care and love he receives has been amazing. At times he can be challenging. The staff are professional at all times but attentive and caring. This extends to both me and my family. Having to hand over his care I found it difficult at first. Knowing that he his receiving such excellent care has made it so much easier for me. Thank you so much to all the staff, from the managers to all the ancillary workers who are doing such a fantastic job. I would and do recommend Care for Veterans.

My brother has now been a resident of the Royal Star and Garter care home in their high dependency unit for nearly five years and looks upon all the staff as an extension of his family. The care he receives is exemplary with a daily exercise class and music group he particularly enjoys. He has been on many different outings to include restaurants, gardens and boat trips as well as the annual Remembrance Day parade in London. He has been able to give talks at the local high school and join his family for events on many occasions. The rooms are very well equipped with hoists that go right round the rooms and into the bathrooms. Everything is sparklingly clean and fresh. There are beautiful gardens with paths that enable my brother to move around quite independently in his electric wheelchair. I am delighted to see how happy content and safe he feels.

My brother joined the home in September 2025 when he was discharged from hospital. It was a complete change of living for him but the instant care and kindness he received was most heartwarming. During his stay, he was treated with great care and during his last weeks there, the close attention and kindness he received was absolutely amazing. I give my eternal thanks to everyone at the home who looked after my brother so well.
We met with Jean and Maria who were so helpful. They both put us at ease and gave us helpful information, while explaining factual information relating to care.
I cannot thank them both enough for their kindness.

Mum attends Royal Star & Garter regularly during the week for their day care services. She really enjoys going and we have seen a marked uplift in her wellbeing as a result of the wonderful activities organised and the lovely staff who run this. She also really enjoys the lunch and care taken re food as she is celiac. It's genuinely a wonderful well run care home. She particularly mentions the staff as being caring respectful and helpful. And finally she has fun!

Since my mum arrived in April, the care she has received has been nothing short of exceptional. From the warm welcome at the front door to the dedication of the nursing, care, housekeeping and hospitality teams, every member of staff treats residents with genuine kindness, dignity and respect. What impressed us most is how well they know Mum as an individual. They have taken time to understand her personality, preferences and the little things that make her happy.
The compassion shown by every member of the team including volunteers is evident every day and the standard of care is consistently exceptional. The food is exceptional, with an excellent choice of nutritious beautifully prepared meals. As a family we are incredibly grateful for the love, professionalism & dedication shown to Mum and all of us. We wholeheartedly recommend.

My Mum moved in to the Royal Star & Garter home after living for 50 years in the same house, the past 35 alone as a widow. We were worried about whether she would settle into a new environment. We needn't have been concerned - the staff have been brilliant and she settled in straight away. The quality of care has more than lived up to the home's wonderful reputation, as has the kindness of everyone she comes into contact with. What has really surprised us is how much Mum's quality of life has improved since moving in to the home, compared with living at home, even with carers and family visiting regularly. Whenever we see her she tells us how much "fun" she has been having. As a family it is a huge relief to know that Mum is safe, properly cared for and enjoying her life. Thank you!

Since the first moment we visited to the short and efficient transition to moving in, I have been delighted with how professional and friendly the entire staff and management have been. Our son has recently stayed at Care for Veterans again for respite. All of the staff are exceptional and so warm and caring. Our son is unable to communicate but the staff are familiar with his needs and always communicate with him directly involving him. Everyone in the home seems to have the ethos that the residents are the priority and this starts with the warm welcome at reception. As well as during his stay our son visits the home for regular physio sessions. This team are fantastic who are professional and knowledgeable working with him to maintain and improve his flexibility and movement and they do this in a happy fun and friendly way.

This nursing home is excellent and no praise could be higher for every member of staff, they are wonderful. The only disappointment was the cost of the shared room my wife had. We were quoted £2090 per week for each room, but as there was only one available we accepted this. We received a 10% discount and paid £7105.98 for this. We consider this very expensive for one room. I asked if there was any room for negotation but was told this was a head office decision. Does this remain the home's position?

Thank you very much for your review. I'm so pleased that your two-week stay with us was excellent and that you valued the exceptional care you received from my team. I would just like to respond to your feedback on the cost of your care. As I didn't have two rooms available at the time, you did agree to share one room and paid the costs that we outlined in writing to you. We did offer a 20% discount for one of you and 10% for the other which helped reduce the total you paid - our care is costed per person rather than per room. It was our pleasure to host your short break, and I hope that we will be able to do so again in the future.

The care she receives there is and always has been outstanding. The staff are friendly, professional and efficient. They treat the residents with respect. The changes in my mother were almost immediate. Eating regular, healthy meals, and her medication is administered regularly. She is always well dressed, hair and make up done, which is important for her. She socialises with other residents. There are various activities and outings. It is like a 5-star hotel!
