This nursing home is excellent and no praise could be higher for every member of staff, they are wonderful. The only disappointment was the cost of the shared room my wife had. We were quoted £2090 per week for each room, but as there was only one available we accepted this. We received a 10% discount
and paid £7105.98 for this. We consider this very expensive for one room. I asked if there was any room for negotation but was told this was a head office decision. Does this remain the home's position?
Reply from Helena Maher, Home Manager at Royal Star & Garter - SurbitonThank you very much for your review. I'm so pleased that your two-week stay with us was excellent and that you valued the exceptional care you received from my team. I would just like to respond to your feedback on the cost of your care. As I didn't have two rooms available at the time, you did agree to share one room and paid the costs that we outlined in writing to you. We did offer a 20% discount for one of you and 10% for the other which helped reduce the total you paid - our care is costed per person rather than per room. It was our pleasure to host your short break, and I hope that we will be able to do so again in the future.

My father has been a resident for 12 months. During this time we have been delighted with the care he has received. From the outset he became part of a family who have his needs and desires at the forefront of the care provided and I am reassured he is happy, comfortable and respected.
Reply from Katie McCauley, Regsitered home manager at Royal Star & Garter - SolihullThank you so much for taking the time to share these kind words. It has been a privilege to care for your father over the past 12 months, and we're delighted to hear how reassured and supported you feel.
Our team work hard to create a true family atmosphere where every resident's needs, wishes and individuality are at the heart of what we do, so it means a great deal to know this has been your experience.
We're pleased that your father is happy, comfortable and respected, and we look forward to continuing to support him in the months ahead. If there is ever anything more we can do, please don't hesitate to let us know.

My mother moved to the Royal Star and Garter in March 2022. It was her decision to do so, reluctantly, as she was no longer managing at home, even with carers. The care she receives there is and always has been outstanding. The staff are friendly, professional and efficient. They treat the residents
with respect.
The changes in my mother were almost immediate. Eating regular, healthy meals, and her medication is administered regularly. She is always well dressed, hair and make up done, which is important for her. She socialises with other residents. There are various activities and outings. It is like a 5-star hotel! She is really happy there. It is her home,
The Royal Star and Garter is outstanding, with a wonderful ambience.
We cannot praise it highly enough.
Reply from Reggie Ballos, Home Manager - High Wycombe at Royal Star & Garter - High WycombeThank you so much for taking the time to share such heartfelt feedback. It truly means a great deal to all of us. We are delighted to hear how well your mother has settled in and that she feels happy, comfortable, and at home.
Our team works hard to provide personalised, respectful, and compassionate care, so knowing that the positive changes in your mother were noticeable so quickly is incredibly inspiring. We are also pleased that she is engaging socially and taking part in the activities and outings, we know how much moments of connection and enjoyment can enhance wellbeing.
Your kind words about the team, the environment, and the Homes atmosphere are truly appreciated. Thank you again for your trust and for praising the team so generously.

My Mother is a resident and my Father was briefly there for 'end of life' palliative care.
The home and staff are simply wonderful. Mum has early-stage dementia and her condition presents challenges. The friendly staff have always treated her with great respect and dignity and the management/nursing
teams are always seeking to make Mum's time there as comfortable and interesting as possible.
We could not have wished for a better place for my Dad to pass away. The care and compassion shown to my Father as he gradually slipped away was truly outstanding and of great comfort to us as a family at a very difficult time.
On a practical level the food, restaurant and entertainment are brilliant, the home and Mum's room are always very clean and the laundry service is very efficient. I am confident this home sets the bar for exceptional care - well done team Royal Star and Garter!
Reply from Katie McCauley, Regsitered home manager at Royal Star & Garter - SolihullThank you so much for taking the time to share your kind and thoughtful feedback. It truly means a great deal to all of us.
We are honoured that you entrusted us with the care of both your parents. Knowing that your mother feels respected, supported and comfortable, and that our team has been able to respond sensitively to her needs, is incredibly important to us.
We are also deeply touched by your words regarding your father's end-of-life care. Supporting residents and families during such a difficult time is a responsibility we take very seriously, and we are grateful to know that the compassion and care shown to your father brought comfort to you and your family. Your recognition of our staff, as well as the environment, food, activities and practical services, will be shared with the whole team, as feedback like this is a real source of pride and encouragement.
On behalf of everyone at Royal Star & Garter, thank you again for your kind words and trust.

My mother has been at the Royal Star & Garter High Wycombe since January 2022 and I visit regularly from Autstralia. My recent visit was the result of a fall my mother had. I have always found the staff treat mum with outstanding care and compassion. Most importantly Mum is treated with the utmost of
dignity. Living so far away hand on heart I know I leave my mum in the best of hands every time I leave which is never easy. I am always made to feel so welcome too.

I'm impressed with the quality of care and the whole environment. Particularly, I would highlight the social activities, medical care and quality of food. The staff are uniformly pleasant and upbeat, and take a personal interest in the residents. We really enjoy going for walks in the well-tended gardens,
and we have used the little room in the garden for private parties. My mother-in-law rates the food highly, especially the home-made soups. The staff are courteous, well trained and encouraging. We feel lucky to have found this residential home with its superior ethos.

The care here is consistently fabulous. My father has severe Alzheimer's been here for just short of 2 years and throughout he has been lovingly cared for - and we also feel supported and cared for when we find it tough. Dad has been settled and content from very early on and his challenges are managed
intelligently, thoughtfully and reflect his changing condition.
The events are varied and inclusive and residents are included and it is evident that the who team at the home understand and believe in the idea of residents doing as much as they are able as long as they are able. Dignity and respect are key too.
