My terminally ill brother-in-law was recently admitted here from hospital, where we were told that he would not survive for more than 4 or 5 weeks. Thanks to the excellent care he was given, he lived for almost 10 weeks. The staff ensured that we were there at the end and for that we are all eternally
grateful. As a family we cannot thank the staff enough for their kindness, care and professionalism .
Reply from Karen Beale, Manager at Richmond HallThank you for such a kind review. The staff always welcome these positive feedbacks. It was our honour to care for him during the later stage of his life. I will pass this onto the staff.

I submitted a review in July 2025 due to my wife being given a short time to live, however due to the excellent care she she received from everyone, carers, nursing staff and even the cleaning staff, she lived well beyond the expected time, being comfortable and pain free.
I spent around 450 hours
sat with my wife and never once had any concerns regarding her care, repositioned on time every time, hygiene levels for her maintained to the highest level, help with feeding, one of most impressive thing was all the staff caring for her, every one always had a smile and such a caring compassionate approach so gentle and kind.
My wife went into Richmond Hall with complex, challenging nursing and caring needs and as those complexities and challenges got greater, the more all the staff excelled in there efforts to keep her to the highest standard of care possible, all of them were brilliant.
The care given at the end of my wife's life was amazing, compassionate loving and caring
THANK YOU ALL

My mom and dad are currently residing at Richmond hall and this place is a little gem. They are both really happy there and above all feel safe and loved. Their rooms are lovely and the food I am told is delicious and plentiful. The staff are a cracking team from the domestics through to the carers
and nurses. Activities are plentiful and every occasion is celebrated. It's a pleasure to visit them and always leave feeling calm and uplifted. Keep up the good work Richmond Hall.

Our Step-father, grand-father spent the last few months of his life here and although he wasn't happy not being able to get around as much, he was so very comfortable and well looked after there. The building, grounds and decor was lovely. But what truly made it outstanding was the amazing staff. To
me they genuinely enjoyed their job and wanted to be there and help. They were very caring, patient, kind and professional. They even made our relatives welcome. There was always someone to ask a question, get his oxygen tidy the room whatever we needed. I will truly miss your smiling faces, jokes and compassion so I've booked my place and hope to see you in about 20 years. Kind regards

The care and compassion that has been shown to our dad has been brilliant. It's very comforting for our family to know that our dad is very well cared for and happy.
All the staff are friendly and always ready to help if you have a query .
It was a hard decision to send dad into care and never thought
he would settle as well as he has .
Many thanks to all the staff

Mom was placed into this care home by the local council and we are so glad she was, the staff were so caring looking after my mom in her last few months. Everytime a carer walked into moms room there would always be a big smile on moms face. We were also impressed with the activities and the effort
that went into decorating the home for xmas and easter etc. The other good thing was all food was cooked on site and always smelt very good, no pre packed food here. Altogether a very nice place!

Our dear friend moved into Richmond Hall nursing home in August 2024, from the local hospital she had been battling complexed cancers for over four years. Going into Richmond Hall was like a dream come true for her and all of us. All the staff were so kind to everyone one of us nothing was too much
trouble. She had a lovely sunny room and nothing was ever too much trouble from any of the staff.
Food was also excellent home cooked.
The end-of-life care was so loving and kind couldn't have asked for more.
Thank you all so much.

My mom was taken into Richmond Hall care home for palliative care following a hospital stay.
I don't think it's possible to explain in words what a wonderful experience it was from start to finish.
When she came out of hospital she was very ill but with the care and compassion shown by all of the
team she bounced back and I honestly believe they extended her life by several weeks.
She enjoyed her meals there, especially the breakfast, and felt completely at home and comfortable.
As a safeguarding consultant, I talk often about person-centred care and The Care Act 6 principles and I can honestly say that Richmond Hall takes it to the next level.
On her last day, the family was welcomed to sit with her day and night, staff were very caring and supportive, and they offered us food and drinks so we didn't need to leave her side.
I will really miss the staff at Richmond Hall even though she was only there for 6 weeks, they became an extended family to us all.
Reply from Karen Beale, Manager at Richmond HallWhat a fantastic heartfelt review. It's reviews like this that make our days worthwhile. My sister has needed nursing care for the 7 years she spent in Richmond Hall. I am so thankful I found it for her all those years ago. She was treated with love and care throughout. I was kept informed of her health issues when necessary and the staff were kind and helpful to us and others whenever
we visited. We will miss them all. Many have been working there for years, a tribute to their working environment and management. The staff appeared well supported by their local GP. The accommodation was pleasant, spacious and always clean.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.649)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.649) out of 10 for Richmond Hall is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.649 for Richmond Hall is calculated as follows: ( (234 Excellents x 5) + (54 Goods x 4) + (20 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 313 Ratings = 4.649
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Richmond Hall is based on 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8, which has been reached with 25 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
