My mum was only in Astley Hall for a short period of time. From the first contact with the manager and all the staff, nothing was too much trouble. She received such kind, supportive care. They attended to her every need and in the last few days of her life she was made so comfortable. All the members of the family were kindly and warmly welcomed and spent as much time with her as needed. Helping us and giving us listening, caring support. I would very much recommend Astley Hall, with its high standard of staff and supportive care.

We were concerned about using respite care for Mum, however, there was no need. My mum was very content and happy throughout her stay. The standard of care was excellent, staff were outstanding. Couldn't have asked for better.

My mum was in Astley Hall for a short time. The care she was given was just the best, from the manager to the staff. As well as making my mum's last few days comfortable and attending to her needs, they made sure all our family were supported. I highly recommend Astley Hall nursing home.

Astley Hall Care Home was the right place for my father to be in for his last two weeks of life. The setting is beautiful. The staff are caring and the nursing care was just what he needed. His death was treated with the utmost dignity and respect and we shall be forever grateful for the kindness shown to us at a dreadfully sad time. He could not have had a better death.

I visited my husband's aunt at Astley Hall on 27.02.22. I felt apprehensive as I always find these places depressing and smell funny. I was so impressed with the care, facilities, ambience, sunny aspect, even a hotel feel to Astley Hall. I actually enjoyed the visit. It's sad for our aunt's health but couldn't be happier where she is and it makes all the difference knowing her environment is so lovely. Beautiful, thoughtful room too, pretty wallpaper and curtains. Great job to the staff.

The organisation was efficient, helpful, attentive and considerate. The manager clearly has an excellent relationship with his staff, which makes for a very good atmosphere. The location was excellent and beautiful. My mother enjoyed the views and listening to the birds singing. The rural setting was very peaceful but still easy to access by car. The care, professionalism, attitude and interest of the care staff was absolutely brilliant. Without exception, they all put heart and soul into looking after the residents. I would highly recommend Astley Hall Care Home.

My mother required nursing care following a fall at home and treatment at A&E. Astley Hall managed to accommodate my mother immediately, providing all of her care requirements. The staff were very helpful and professional with all of the arrangements. This was reassuring at a difficult time. My mother was very content at Astley Hall, she was welcomed immediately into the 'happy ambiance' and made some new friends. The care provided by all of the staff is greatly appreciated.

Dad was only at Astley Hall for the final 5 weeks of his life, unfortunately. He had been in hospital prior to this, where his health deteriorated, becoming very frail and requiring considerable care and support. The Team at Astley Hall were wonderful, managing all of Dad's needs and always making time to talk to the family – quite the opposite to our experience with the hospital system, where talking to someone was a real challenge. We truly appreciate the love, support and care given to Dad during his time at Astley Hall. The Team did a wonderful job during these difficult and challenging times – thank you.

Obviously, in these times I was really happy to see the staff taking temperature readings for anyone that entered the premises, and I immediately noticed the amount of protective safety equipment and sanitiser stations on every level and it was great to see all the staff in masks. I wasn’t sure what to expect as I’ve not spent much time in any care homes, but I was really impressed. I found the manager, and the rest of the staff extremely caring and sincere, and I briefly spoke to the manager and he told me they were about to do some engagement activities with the residents, and that they often do, I was really pleased to hear this as my grandmother is a resident and I was so pleased to see the actual manager and some of the staff involved whilst I was visiting, it made me feel extremely happy for my grandmother and I really wanted to let other people know. Keep up the fantastic work everyone here.

Mum came to Astley in a very frail and depleted state. With excellent care, though, she actually rallied surprisingly well for some weeks. The availability of staff to talk to us if we had concerns made a difficult situation much easier than it could have been. We were always very impressed by the commitment to make her life as comfortable as possible, catering for her particular culinary tastes and encouraging her to eat and drink, trying to try to lift her morale, encouraging her to take part in activities when she felt able, or just sitting and talking to her if she didn’t. Seeing for ourselves the way that their priority was to keep Mum free of pain and distress in the inevitable final stage I know is going to be a massive comfort in the weeks ahead. When Mum finally slipped peacefully away in late September, we felt so cared for ourselves by the staff. With heart-felt thanks to all the team for all you did for Mum and for us.

My partner was only at Astley for just under two weeks after being in 2 hospitals. Due to COVID-19, we couldn't visit at Astley, but my partner was very happy there. On our video chat, she told me the care, staff and food was very good, and she likes the view from the window. Nothing was too much for the nurses or carers. When she passed away (not COVID-19), the whole team were very supportive to us as a family (sent sympathy card) and can't thank Astley enough. I would have like to put excellent for everything, but due to COVID-19, and Astley keeping residents/staff safe, was unable to see for myself.

The staff and management are very compassionate and truly are what carers should be; friendly and compassionate. My friend was well taken care of with all his complex nursing care being met. The food was great, and I was invited to stay for lunch one day that I visited. The rooms were clean, and they took extra care for my friends woollen jumpers, making sure they did not shrink. There were lots of things to do, and my friend really enjoyed the back garden; we would often sit out in the garden for a visit. If I wanted to know if he needed anything; all I would have to do is ask, the management would sit and chat over my concerns. All in all, a very nice place to be.

Thank you to all of the staff at Astley Hall for looking after mum so well in her final 3-months of life. She was cared for with love and dignity even though she was unable to do anything for herself. Carers and nurses always spoke to her gently about any treatment they needed to administer to make sure that she understood what was being done. She was kept clean and warm at all times. Staff sat with her when she was frightened or distressed so that she never felt alone. She was protected and kept safe throughout the Covid-19 shutdown, and staff maintained extremely high professional safeguarding standards.
They took great care of us (her family) to make sure that we felt supported and were well informed. Any changes in treatment or her condition were reported as soon as possible, and permissions were gained if needed.

Grateful thanks to everyone at Astley throughout a very emotionally challenging time for us all. You were a beacon of light in the darkness.

My mother was admitted to Astley Hall in April 2020. She was in a very poorly state both physically and emotionally. Due to the Covid 19 restrictions, we have been unable to visit her in person. However, all of the team have done an excellent job to ensure she is well cared for and to support our family with regular updates and arranging skype calls with her so we are able to stay in touch during these difficult times. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the team, no matter how busy they are and they always go above and beyond. As I have not yet been inside the home, it is not really possible to rate some of the facilities/services, so I have rated these as good at this stage. But based on the care Mom is receiving and the wonderful dedicated care team, I cannot fault it and would highly recommend it. My mother has also said how wonderful the staff are and that she is happy at Astley Hall which is the most important thing, so we are delighted.
