Astley Hall was acquired by a small local group, Heritage Manor, in May 2012 and underwent an internal refurbishment of the Grade II listed building and its gardens. The most recent refurbishment of the lounge and dining areas was in 2024.

Set in a country house with wonderful views out over the valley, Astley Hall provides nursing and residential care, and there is a dedicated part of the building to look after those people with dementia.

The team provides homely care which promotes independence at every opportunity, in accordance with the aims of the Worcestershire dementia standard for care; this is care that does not impede upon residents' chances of building a satisfying day-to-day lifestyle, in a calm and welcoming social atmosphere.

The chef at Astley Hall has just won the best chef award at The Great British Care Awards for the West Midlands 2024 and now goes through to the National Awards. A senior carer was also a finalist at The Great British Care Awards for the West Midlands 2024 in the carer category.

Many activities and hobbies are available for occupants to enjoy, and the concerns of loved ones and relatives are taken seriously. Alternative health professionals are regularly consulted over personal developments.

The nursing team have a range of specialisms, from learning disability through to dementia and other associated mental health conditions.

My mum has been at Astley Hall Care home since February 2017. I would highly recommend Astley Hall. It's the last place you want your parent to land up but I can honestly say with hand on heart that the staff and the care they provide is to a high standard. I know my mum is being looked after 24/7 which
puts my mind at ease. The staff there deserve every penny they earn, so kind, loving and considerate. I would highly recommend this care home to anyone that needs their loved ones looked after. I would give them 10 out of 10 for everything they do.
Reply from Jayne Rose, Administrator at Astley Hall Care HomeThank you, Melanie, for such a fantastic review. Our staff work extremely hard to achieve this, your comments are greatly appreciated.

When looking in the area for a home for my mother I felt that everything felt right about Astley Hall. In the year that she has been there, she has become very calm and relaxed and I feel this is down to the excellent staff who really get on with all the residents and go out of their way to care and
show an interest in them.
The home is clean and secure and has a nice friendly feel to it, I have visited my mother at various times of the day and have always found the staff to be welcoming and looking after everyone, I have never found anything that I was not happy with.
Reply from Jayne Rose, Administrator at Astley Hall Care HomeThank you, Rob, for your very kind comments, we strive to provide the very best for our residents and their families.

My mother came to Astley Hall after she was discharged from hospital after breaking her hip. She had dementia and the whole experience was upsetting and stressful for her. I have to say she was put at ease straight away by the thoughtful and caring staff. We turn up at all times to see the everyday
running of the home. There is nothing I can complain about. The staff are so caring nothing is too much trouble. The activities are excellent and encourage residents to join in, especially the singing. The improvements in my mother are really noticeable. Sometimes they are very busy but still, they do the very best.

My feelings on Astley Hall are of great admiration for the nurses/carers whom take care of my mother and other patients.
Their willingness to go the extra mile is fantastic. Interaction is excellent. The food is of a high standard and the staff are always willing to go and prepare other foods to entice
my mother to eat if she doesn't like the main menu. I am always made to feel welcome. I am always kept updated on my mother's progress and health.
Reply from Jayne Rose, Administrator at Astley Hall Care HomeThank you Patrick for the exceptional review, we always aim to please. We are so pleased that Mother has settled well.

Dad spent the last 3 years of his life at Astley Hall and died there this week. The home is a lovely old building with ongoing upgrades, but disruption to residents during essential work has been kept to a minimum. The general feel of the home is that it is clean, caring and friendly. Throughout
his stay Dad has been well cared for by all the staff who got to know him well. He was always clean and shaved when we visited (unless he didn't want to be, and his wishes had been respected!) The end of life care he received was excellent and the care shown to us as a family by all the staff was faultless. Thank you.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.802)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.802) out of 10 for Astley Hall Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 14 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.952 for Astley Hall Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (158 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 165 Ratings = 4.952
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.85 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Astley Hall Care Home is based on 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.85
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 48 registered maximum number of service users is 9.6, which has been reached with 14 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
