Astley Hall was acquired by a small local group, Heritage Manor, in May 2012 and underwent an internal refurbishment of the Grade II listed building and its gardens. The most recent refurbishment of the lounge and dining areas was in 2024.

Set in a country house with wonderful views out over the valley, Astley Hall provides nursing and residential care, and there is a dedicated part of the building to look after those people with dementia.

The team provides homely care which promotes independence at every opportunity, in accordance with the aims of the Worcestershire dementia standard for care; this is care that does not impede upon residents' chances of building a satisfying day-to-day lifestyle, in a calm and welcoming social atmosphere.

The chef at Astley Hall has just won the best chef award at The Great British Care Awards for the West Midlands 2024 and now goes through to the National Awards. A senior carer was also a finalist at The Great British Care Awards for the West Midlands 2024 in the carer category.

Many activities and hobbies are available for occupants to enjoy, and the concerns of loved ones and relatives are taken seriously. Alternative health professionals are regularly consulted over personal developments.

The nursing team have a range of specialisms, from learning disability through to dementia and other associated mental health conditions.

I couldn't have asked for a better place as a final chapter for my mother's life, I just wish it had happened sooner and longer.
The care was fantastic, activities on a daily basis, her nails done, hair done. Staff are very respectful and caring and attentive to my mother's needs. Lovely room with
a lovely view. I couldn't have asked for more. Simply fantastic. Thank you all.
Reply from Jayne Rose, Administrator at Astley Hall Care HomeThank you for your very kind words. Mom was a pleasure to care for. Please keep in touch and if you want to pop back anytime you would be more than welcome.

Found home welcoming to service users and visitors. Activities for service users so important for stimulation, music playing is a memory jerker and music and movement. Drinks encouraged, good to see. Cleaners do their very best to keep odours at bay. Carers very friendly and kind. Menu excellent. Service
users treated with respect. Doors knocked before entry. Senior staff kept me updated on service users settling in and behaviour. Photos and homely touches in room so important. Laundry and housekeeping good.

The residents of Astley Hall appear happy and invariably have a smile on their faces. With good food and regular entertainment, my mother-in-law seems to have improved her general wellbeing and enjoys the company of both residents and staff. Well done Astley.

My mum had severe dementia and joined the residents at Astley Hall in March 2018, having been transferred from a care home following a broken hip. She soon settled and I can honestly say, the last 18 months of her life were exceptional. The standard of care was very good, the food excellent and the
activities absolutely brilliant. Sadly Mum’s health started to deteriorate and she passed away at the beginning of January. Words can’t describe the love, care and support given to Mum and family during that time and the genuine sadness felt by the staff.
So, thank you to all the staff. You are all exceptional.
Reply from Jayne Rose, Administrator at Astley Hall Care HomeThank you, Sharon, for your very kind words. Mom was a very special lady to us all at Astley Hall. It was an honour to care for her and a pleasure to meet and get to know you and your family.

What an amazing place. Stopped in to see my aunt whilst passing through. The staff here are absolutely incredible. The manager was so chatty and couldn't have made me feel more welcome. You can tell they all enjoy their work. Very relaxed atmosphere too with plenty of things to keep the residents occupied.
Thoroughly enjoyed my visit there and my aunt certainly seems to enjoy being there. Keep up the good work.

Our brother has been at Astley Hall for just over 3 years. It really is a lovely place. Beautiful views at the front and back with a lovely garden where the residents sit in the summer and a lovely sun house which our brother loves to sit in with the fantastic activity staff they are great they organise
days out, bbq and entertainment.
The carers do a really good job and work very hard and are all very friendly and caring. The admin and most of the nurses are very professional and very friendly.

Thank you all for what you do for our brother we would definitely recommend Astley Hall.

My father has been at Astley Hall for the last eleven months. It is a lovely place, his room backs onto the back garden so he enjoys watching the wildlife, the surrounding gardens are well kept and the activity staff, who l have to say are the best l have seen, organise BBQ's in the summer as well as
lots of other days out and entertainment for the residents.
The staff, admin, nurses, carers, and housekeeping are all very professional and caring, making everyone feel welcome and do a great job.
My father really does enjoy being here and it has given him a new lease of life.
Thanks everyone, you do a great job.

Having had the misfortune to visit several care homes whilst sorting my sister's care, I can only be totally impressed with everything to do with Astley Hall. She has been there and, unfortunately, bedridden since December and I have never ever felt the need to query her care. She is not involved with
activities so I cannot comment and I avoid lunchtimes etc, so again, I cannot comment but I do know she eats well. Astley Hall seems to me to be a very high standard of care and I am so very grateful that my sister is in their care.

My initial impression was not good, * Care Home didn't strike me as a nursing home, unfortunately, it had a very unpleasant smell. Dad's room wasn't very inviting. However it is the care that is important, dad's carers were always very patient and polite but there was little warmth from them to my dad.
His call bell when I visited was never in his reach, despite him being down a long corridor. On one occasion his air pressure relieving mattress had become deflated (he has immobility due to stroke). He developed an infection pressure sore on his ankle and lost 6kg in weight in 4 weeks. I never saw any fresh fruit or veg served!

Both my parents live at Astley. Since they are both frail and unable to cope at home, this was transitional, firstly my Mother who has dementia and more recently my Father who is also requiring substantial care. The family visits the hall, and we always find them in good care. The home is well staffed,
and the carers friendly. No complaints about the food and the place has the credentials of being clean, and well run. Most importantly, I can trust the nursing staff to make the right decisions, on what they can cope with and when hospitalisation is necessary.

It is a difficult time when your parents need to go into care, however, I am comfortable their needs are being addressed and given the remoteness of the family the alternatives were simply not safe. For that, I thank all the staff at Astley Hall.

My mother-in-law has been a resident at Astley Hall Care Home Stourport-On-Severn about 3 to 4 years now and in that time we have had no concerns about her care. She is kept very clean and tidy although she is now bedridden her hair and nails are still kept clean and cut and her room is always nice
and tidy and kept very clean.
The food is good and varied and looks tasty. The staff are always pleasant and very helpful when needed.

Mother-in-law always greets the carers with a smile although she has dementia and can not really recognise many people she seems pleased to see them.
one thing that is very noticeable you DO NOT get the nasty toilet smell as you walk through the main doors like you can in some care homes!!

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.802)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.802) out of 10 for Astley Hall Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 14 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.952 for Astley Hall Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (158 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 165 Ratings = 4.952
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.85 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Astley Hall Care Home is based on 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.85
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 48 registered maximum number of service users is 9.6, which has been reached with 14 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
