Bowood Court Care Home

Carers are polite and helpful, giving answers or referring to who can help us when we have questions. I like the fact that on occasion we're allowed to visit and have dinner with our parents. Also, very happy at the amount of activities laid on for the residents. They have a hairdresser for both men and women and day trips out for meals or visits to different places.

Each resident is treated as an individual as to their care and needs and my father-in-law refers to it as his home, which is lovely.

My father spent 12 months at Bowood and was very happy there until his death recently. Staff always helpful and friendly, well done.

Choosing a care home for a parent is very difficult and confusing. Bowood Court were very helpful and understanding at this time. Facilities and service they offer are very good with some caring people on hand. Most important my father's needs are dealt with and he loves the food. The imminent refurbishment and extra facilities being provided will be a bonus.

From the day we were shown around the Mews in September 2016, we knew that this is where dad should see out his life and we were never disappointed. At the end of February 2018 dad fell and broke his hip, a total accident, and went into the hospital. Unfortunately, because of complications, his health deteriorated and he was sent back to Bowood Court & Mews Care Home for end of life care. If things can be pleasant under such circumstances, the staff of Bowood Court & Mews Care Home from the manager down to the cleaners made it so the last 10 days of dad's life were days that we can look back now and store as happy memories for the family. The care, affection, and compassion they showed not only to dad but to the rest of the family was exceptional, nothing was too much trouble and we can never thank them enough for helping to ease what could have been a harrowing experience.

Very caring, helpful, polite, supportive to the resident (my partner) and also to myself address problems quickly without fuss.

Generally, my grandmother's care has been excellent. There have been a few issues due to a shortage of staff on a few occasions, but this has now been addressed. The staff are caring and work hard. Nothing is too much trouble and she classes this as home. We visit all the time and are always welcomed. There are big plans for the year ahead and we look forward to being a part of it!

My mother has been at Bowood Court for only a couple of weeks but already, we are very pleased with the way she has been welcomed by all of the staff, which has helped her enormously during this settling in time.

Unfortunately, she has also tested their emergency service when she had a fall in her room. Again the care and quick response from the staff members was very reassuring for us as a family. Well done Bowood.

My mother has been a resident at Bowood Court now for over 2 months. She came from recovery from hospital with a broken hip. The care the staff have given her has been amazing. She has already put on weight, smiling and enjoying life. The entertainment and activities are first class. The managers and staff are so caring and keen to help giving the residents so much dignity and comfort.

My mother came to Bowood Court and Mews on 3 May 2017 after going walk about, and social services got involved.

She had, for a long time, said she felt unsafe at home and had not been able to look after herself properly.

On arrival, she liked it here. Her room was freshly decorated, the facility was clean and tidy and the residents were all happy.

She is now better in herself and says she hopes she can stay here because she's got friends and feels safe.

I feel that she is better, health wise, and very well cared for. Neither she nor my brother have any complaints, and we feel Bowood and the staff here have transformed our lives.

My mother has been in this care home for 5 weeks. She has received wonderful treatment from every member of staff. Everyone is very caring and nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent and varied.

My uncle has been a resident in Bowood Court for almost a year now. The difference in his health and well-being is exceptional. Bowood Court provides the security and stability he so desperately needed whilst the excellent staff give him the encouragement and confidence to join in, and be a part of the Bowood community. The staff genuinely do care and are very kind and patient and now happiness is a realisation in my uncle's life again.

My mother has been at Bowood Court for 6 years approximately and the care has always been well above average. It is a very rare occurrence for her to have to go to hopsital because they look after her so well, making sure she eats and drinks well. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending friends to send their relatives here.

My mother has been a resident at Bowood for at least 12 years and during that time I have always found the staff to be friendly, helpful and very efficient. A friend of the family who is an agency care worker recommended Bowood as the best in the area so we took her advice and placed mum there and it was the right decision. My compliments to all of the staff. Thank you.

Staff are very good. My husband came for respite and now has decided to stay. Lots of activities. Staff are so kind. I tell everyone about the home.

In my experience, my husband has, and still is being supported in all aspects of his health. The care home manager and all her staff are very supportive of his changing health and feel that he would not be suitable to be moved anywhere else. Both myself and our three sons have been very pleased with my husband's care. I myself would recommend Bowood Court to anyone who's family are faced with the decision to move their relative to a care home.

The care team are dedicated, showing compassion and empathy. The senior care worker is amazing, not only supporting my mother but the family too.

I feel that the care home could be better catered for in terms of those of different ethnic origins.
